You are mistaken. Many Christians support marriage equality, find nothing in the Bible espousing hatred of homosexuals, and respect their fellow citizens despite differences in life style choice. You might want to return that courtesy.
Marvel tried one out in the early 90's, BoyGrabber, who's mutant power was whisking the underwear off of pre-teen boys with the power of his mind. Surprisingly, the character didn't fair well and was discontinued, but hey, times change and he can always come back as it becomes more socially acceptable.
I'm always surprised by how leftists try to medicalize opinions they disagree with, even in this case when they don't even understand what the other opinion is.
So why respect a man's life style choices when it's easier to just assume the worst and treat his kind uniformly as "know nothing sheep herders?" Stereotypes, prejudice, intolerance... hard to argue against them when that's how you live your own life. Offer no respect, you won't receive much. "Plan" and simple. .
Comments like above crack me up. The old respect comment. In Iraq they hang homosexuals, in Uganda they kill them, in the US we deny homosexuals their rights. All over a fairy-tale, that no one on this Earth has ever produced one shred of empirical evidence. I'm supposed to respect this? I’m supposed to tolerate this? I’m not supposed to be prejudiced against barrack behavior? Here is a hint, respect is EARNED, its never given. So far, the various religious mafias has not done anything to EARN my respect.
I'm not asking you to respect someone who hangs homosexuals. I'm asking you to not assume anyone who believes in Christ hangs homosexuals. If you reserve respect until it's earned, you have no respect for the next stranger you meet. Treating new people you meet without respect will likely cause you difficulty. Your assumption that you are entitled to disrespect strangers and that they will attempt to earn your courtesy despite this will often be incorrect. Few strangers will think a self-entitled disrespectful kid is worth the effort.
You can ask all you wish, but christians have shown themselves to be anti-gay over and over and over and over...................... 44 Percent of Americans Believe Homosexuality Is a Sin, Survey Says This says it all. 71% of people who attend church say homosexuality is a sin. This does NOT deserve my respect. Let me tell you another thing. The various religious mafias have no respect for me right off the bat with not even knowing me. The stereotypes, prejudice and intolerance, automatically comes from their end, not mine. If 8% of church goers said homosexuality was a sin, I wouldn't have much to go on. There will always be a certain percentage of people who simply do not like another group for whatever reason. 8% do not like homosexuals. OK so what? If you had an honest poll, I’m sure 8% of white people wouldn’t like black people and vice-versa. You cannot extinguish bigotry. But we are talking a whopping 71%. Respect is EARNED, not given. The various religious mafias defiantly have not earned my respect. If anything, they have purposely alienated me.
You see other people only as a stereotype, you disrespect them until they've earned otherwise. You have no grounds to expect anything but the same in return and it's unlikely you'll be lucky enough to find strangers who believe you are entitled to better than you offer them. If you choose alienation and disrespect, you have no right to complain when it's delivered.
I heard you. I heard your bigoted remark that "christians have shown themselves to be anti-gay" and your repeatedly stereotyping people don't know as members of a mafia. I heard you blithely assert bigotry was acceptable. I've heard you prejudge and disrespect people you've never met and demonstrate no tolerance for their beliefs. And after that came from your end, I heard you say "The stereotypes, prejudice and intolerance, automatically comes from their end, not mine." I heard you. Did you hear yourself?
Because I try and keep my word, I did in fact come back to check on this thread.....and found that according to some, my "personal story" has no reference here. Mercy no! Why in the world give any credence to one who has actually, you know, lived and worked with and been around gays who are against NAMBLA? Who find it disgusting, repellant and fight against it. Makes much more sense to rely on unproven, out-dated, full of lies, propaganda just "proving" there is a link between a disgusting pedophile group and ....well....consenting adults. Oh and this X-man has been out since longer than Disney has had "gay" day---not a huge Disney is at fault link there.
I have many Christian friends and while all of them say homosexuality is a sin (their book says so) very few of them think gay people should be hung. Most of them do not agree with the way the right and the "churches" are attacking gay people over a couple of lines in the bible while ignoring the major ones (heard anyone calling for the death of adulterers or stoning of unpure women). Most of my Christian friends, the ones under 40 at least, also feel there is no reason to deny SSM because the government has taken it over (it has lost its religious meaning). Again - just because someone does not agree with something someone else does, does not make them a bigot or prejudice...
Is there really a need for a gay X-men character? Does it somehow enrich the story line or plot in a way that makes sense? Or is this agenda driven, or perhaps compulsive PC compliance?
Or possibly just a different kind of character that reflects the diversity of real life. There wasn't really a need for a black X-man, a female X-man, a Cajun X-man, or a one-eyed native American X-man either.
Yet you ignore the fact that 71% of church goers label homosexuals as sinner w/o even meeting them. Religious folk bring stereotypes, prejudice and intolerance to the table automatically. Hey, if you dont want to listen to facts, I cant help you, but dont throw around ad homs because of your own willful ignorance.
Too bad the facts do not agree with your assessment. SSM will happen, only because the Constitution will allow it. We live in a republic governed by a Constitution that protects the minority from being over ran by the majority. If it was left to the will of the people, SMS would be a pipe dream, because there are too many christians who believe in fairy-tales over the Constitution.
Why do you think same sex marriage is wrong? And why would the left attempt to legalize pedophilia? You're just speaking nonsense...
