Oh, our grannies used to cook and bake from scratch. Breads, meats, and everything fresh cooked. Fish bought fresh and live at the Fulton Fish Market. Challah fresh baked. Everything done with love and from scratch.

Those days are gone forever, I should just let them go?

Not everywhere...We raise our own chickens, beef, and pork. We have a large garden and produce a lot of our own veggies.

We buy our bread and milk...but a lot of what we eat comes from scratch...its less expensive that way....and it tastes beter too.

As usual, the US FDA is saying the US Food is "Not intended for repeated eating". Now US Consumers are forced to deal with the gruesome reality that their GM rice may be unusually higher in arsenic than other more natural varieties.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-19663082

An American consumer group is warning that higher levels of arsenic have been detected in rice-based foods than previously thought.

The US Food and Drug Administration said that it planned to collect data on 1,200 food samples by the end of 2012 to make its own recommendation on arsenic intake. FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg added that consumers should not stop eating rice but encouraged a diverse diet.

5 liveUp All Night asked Dr Paul Brent, a toxicologist with the Food Standards Authority for Australia and New Zealand, what he made of Consumer Reports' findings.

Your dog must be especially stupid as dogs go. Mine won't eat the "econoburgers" for instance. Sniffs them and walks away.

I have a theory that a lot of children of immigrants are getting really fat because their parents are so use to privation in their home countries that they don't know how to stop feeding their children. Beans, rice, and various other heavy starches are shoveled into them by the ton. Filipino's love sweet cakes of all varieties, and I watch the kids eat tons of it and the parents keep pushing it on them. While it's fantastic for them that they are now in a land of abundance, it's a problem that needs to be addressed.

Interesting. You rant against people who use the term "pink slime" as a reflection of submitting to group-think, and then you use a term like "liberal" to smear an entire class of people who probably have a number of different views on different issues. You, sir, are a hypocrite.

Well water is untreated and perfectly legal. You can buy your own cow straight from the rancher and have it butchered for you or butcher it yourself - no regulations or treatment there. You can grow your own vegetables or buy them at a farmer's market - no treatment or restrictions there. The toughest is to find unpasteurized milk, but there are ways to work around that too. . .

What's wrong with cooking your meals? 90% of our food is home cooked from fresh produce bought at the markets. We have always lived like this and will continue too.

That is a good marketing plan for pathogen-eating bacteria. Since ALL meat has bacteria growing on it, what's the harm with genetically-engineering a bacterium that eats E-coli and then slathering said bacterium on peoples' meat.

The problem with the "food already contains the" argument is that your fore-fathers already distinguished between VITAMINS and POISONS. Not everything on food is good.

Your precious AMMONIUM HYDROXIDE is classified as a health hazard by the National Institutes for Health. Look it up. You cannot eat it, drink it, take it as a supplement. It's not a vitamin, it's not a mineral.

It is in such high quantity in Pink Slime, that you cannot LEGALLY serve people a steak created solely out of Pink Slime. THAT MEANS IT IS NOT BEEF.

When you are prepared to display pictures of yourself eating 100% Pink Slime and claiming it's 100% Beef, MAYBE THEN WE CAN TALK. However you can't, so all of your babble Jedi-Mind Tricks are just lies.

Look, I GAVE links to FACTS stating what FTB is, how it's made and the fact is is made from BEEF and that it is called BEEF. Your 'pink slime' description is nothing but meaningless hyperbole. I also provided a link that shows ammonium hydroxide is NATURAL in foods and that it is used in many foods consumed every day.

Ammonium Hydroxide is indeed a poison of you DRINK the stuff full strength. The fact that foods (like meat) are treated with it does not mean one is consuming amounts that are enough to poison a human being. FTB is an ADDITIVE and is 100% beef which is why hamburger that includes FTB is called BEEF.

Actually, we have a vegetable garden and have fresh organic veggies in summer/fall. I am making a pumpkin stew today.

When I was working fulltime, raising a kid, taking care of a dog, a house, elderly parents, the yard, the hub, etc., etc., time was really tight and we ate worse for it. No time to shop or cook decent stuff as much, unfortunately.

I am all for equal pay for equal work for women but someone's got to take care of a house and do the cooking and cleaning, unless you are the 1% that can afford chefs, cooks, maids, illegal aliens and such. I guess you can eat fast food and live in a pigsty; not that I would eat off of my floors or anyone elses, if u know what I mean.

I never cared for nor desired that lifestyle ever, truth to tell.

I'm reading up on Aspertame AKA NutraSweet. That's the stuff they put in diet soda. It's suspected of everything from cancer to low birth weight. You should read about it:

You can drink unpastureurized milk if you like but there is a health risk. The reason milk goes through pasteurization is because before it became law milk was killing people.

And you can raise your own animals and butcher and eat them yourself without restrictions...but forget about vacations.

Trying to castrate baby pigs near the sow can be a health risk also.

Worrying about what you eat can also make you sick...I eat what i like...my wife is a great cook.

Alright, let's say that was the case. What makes you believe that the same situation would occur now? Modern processes and efficiency and hygiene have improved greatly, allowing dairy farmers to produce raw milk for those who want to consume it.
I know that there are rules that say it's bad, but apply some critical thinking instead of the typical circular argument that it's bad because there's a law, and there's a law because it's bad.

Giving consideration to what you consume is not the same as "worrying." Would you say the same about driving? If you pay attention to the road while driving, is that the same as worrying about being in a crash? No, it's not.

    Very good "not personal" response.

Remember... Pasteurization was discovered when Louis Pasteur discovered meat broth did not spoil as quickly after boiling and when stored in a covered container.

He drank fresh milk. Millions of people drank fresh milk. If there was more than 0.001% death or disease, they wouldn't drink it. PORK was more deadly than milk.

People drink fresh milk TODAY in Europe, Russia and other places. *I DRINK FRESH MILK*.

All one has to do is FREEZE a fresh cream packet. It lasts for months and stays FRESHER than American milk. Therefore, MORE PEOPLE drink spoiled milk in the United States, with pasteurization, than people in Europe who drink fresh milk from cream packets.

You can make anything with this cream, and you can TASTE the protein. Whipped cream. Deserts. Sour cream. Anything.

Simply put it on the stove with some water and boil it. You have delicious warm milk.

The United States has the most disgusting milk I have ever tasted in the world.
