Could be in syria, things are not looking too good there, could be in libya, they just killed a diplomat, could be side by side with israel against iran, these two don't take it too kind of each others, could be in east asia, the chinese and japanese are fighting already in UN.

So here is the question (s) has US spread too thin already? Can US afford another battlefront?

yes it can, Romney will begin the draft, we have potential to get many Americans, who are unemployed into productive members of the military.

Jesus christ, the desparation of the GOP is now past unbearable and is simply laughable - that's right, anyone reading this is actually laughing in your face.

It was GWB's plan to set fourth a popular uprising in the ME. He wanted people to take control of their own destinies, he wanted democracy in each country. He rolled the dice and they are still rolling.

GWB arguably set the wheels in motion when he threw Saddam out.

I don't really see where a concentrated battle-line would be. More just interventionist actions here and there.

That's been the American agenda toward the Middle East since FDR in WWII. Bush just revived it.

And the UK and France etc... We need to get our heads around the fact, that our constant interference into other people's business, i.e. installing puppet governments, which are Western friendly, then complaining and invading when it goes wrong is where many of our security issues go wrong.

We wouldn't do this if it wasn't for oil (on the whole), so why not address the root cause - oil dependence? Why keep on pissing these people off, then demonising entire countries and religions, when they do exactly what we would do; rebel against the external force?

The Army and Marines definitely need some down time for a few years. This means we should not participate in any land fighting apart from the possible use of Special Forces here and there. The Airforce and Navy has not been as strained, so a relatively short campaign involving them shouldn't be too painful, except in the pocketbook. Active deployment and use of the Navy and Air Force is very expensive and will run the bill up quickly.

The US need not get involved in Syria. The rebels will eventually overthrow Assad

Yep, the US should make it clear that it backs up Assad firmly.

    I'm sure you're right.
Many will be employed as fertiliser for the plants on their graves.

sell weapons to all factions in the mid east and let them fight it out until one side is dead. But make them pay for the weapons with gold bullion. After its over, tell the winners that we will destroy them if they start any crap or raise the price of oil.;)

You mean the Bush Plan about democracies?

Bush was stupid.. Democracy is organic... and it requires a free press, a literate populous, and a robust Middle Class.

The Middle East will be more like Turkey in 20-25 years.

    Do you have an example?

so, for oil we have improved the lives of millions of people in the ME. Some are able to build indoor sky resorts and have so much money that they have killed thousands of Rios to make knife handles. Yet they are pissed at us. We have sent our resident Black boy to bow at their feet but they still kill of ambassador.

In Iran we did back the Shah who lost support from the Shia clergy of Iran, particularly due to his strong policy of modernization, secularization, conflict with the traditional class of merchants known as bazaari, and recognition of Israel. The islamo pigs that overthrew him and still hold power weren't angry about the brutal actions of the secret police but because he wanted to give women human rights and didn't want to destroy Israel.

If Carter had backed the Shah Iran would be a modern thriving nation where even women had some rights. We would not have suffered the 9/11 attacks and the whole ME would be better off today. I expect that when the Shah died in 1980 Iran would have transitioned into a more democratic form of self governance.

Oh, for a minute there I thought you meant here in America. When the election's over, the economic **** is going to hit the fan. The fraud-balloon "recovery" based on manipulated money and a rigged economy is going to pop and reality will set in -- hard! All hell is likely to break loose by next summer, so I thought you were hinting at a situation where President Messiah has to call out the military in this country to suppress rioting and carnage....

I'm speculating, of course, that the dumb son of a ***** will be re-elected, which will be a certain sign that more of us are even dumber sons of *******. Martial law? An autocrat like Obama would do it in a heartbeat!

Yeah, the Federal Reserve makes hundreds of billions of dollars just pop out of thin air and continues the rescues for banks and the stock market. You'd think that this would make liberal Democrats madder than hell. BUT, because all this bull**** happens with President Messiah's blessing, they'll just stand there and cheer because they're getting their monthly welfare table crumbs from his regime. They're very easily pleased, but what a worthless, stupid bunch of "useful-idiot" *******s....
