I think China and Russia want to stand on the sidelines and watch the show if war breaks out between isreal and iran. And they expect the U.S. and it's allies to do the same. Think of it as tag team wrestling. Once the buddy jumps in the ring with a folded chair the other steps in with a folded stepping ladder and all hell breaks loose and we got a rumble royale on our hands.
The media is only quiet because Obama is their guy! Yet just for exercise, tell me just how much power can Russia or China project into the ME? Are they first gonna take over the Air-Space from the US and Isreal or will they attack us with superior Naval Power? Oh wait, they gonna fly in 100,000 troops in mere days to attack us??? Or will they just send in Nuclear Weapons an hell with it? I just don't understand the idea that Russia or China have the power to project in the ME, or anyplace outside of thier own borders.
The Russian and Chinese economies combined trump the U.S. I think they have more than enough funding to pump quality, military equipment into the ME. And if worse comes to worse the two can easily deploy their navys to defend Iranian coasts and help supply air power over the region. I wouldn't underestimate the two. That could serve as a deadly mistake.

Iran NEEDS nuclear power.. they have since the 1970s and in those days the US was training their techs while the Germans were building the facilities.
