    That sounds terrible!

Good thing she was not a church or she would lose her tax exempt status for that.

Any churches that start to enter the political process should have it's tax exempt status investigated. Across the board for all churches or religions, no matter how they endorse.. The less the better. ;)

No, some people have looked at REAL reasons why they don't like Obama or his policies, and I respect that (even if I disagree).

What I do not respect is people shouting their mouth off about totally ridiculous and racist/prejudice based propaganda like the "muslim, communist" comment.

If you can show FACTS from an unbiased source that CONFIRM (at any time in the last 10 years) that President Obama is a Muslim and/or a Communist, I am willing to look at it.

But at this point, the birthers have tried EVERYTHING, and NOTHING has shown that support that ridiculous, hateful propaganda.

Although, let's face it, if President Obama was a Muslim (or a Mormon, or a Jew, or a Buddhist), there is NOTHING in the Constitution that would prevent him from being President anyway!

I hate it that the government tells the churches what they can and cannot say. And yes I argued for Wright's freedom of religion/speech when he was spewing his racist politics from the pulpit last go-round.

I do believe a Church can speak out against any candidate or cause.... they just cannot support a candidate. It's alright to call Mitt a Polygamist, Dog Abuser or Barack Obama a Communist Muslim.... you just can't say vote for the Communist Muslim.

No biggie to me personally. Silly, perhaps... so is Rev. Wright with his rabidly derisive sermons, and the current president sat in his congregation for 20 years.

On another note, I thought this was a cool pic (taken from the linked article in the OP)...

Well, clearly in this case it says to vote for Mitt. That appears to be supporting a candidate.

Yep. Westboro Baptist are Democrats so I doubt they'd be supporting Romney.

I thought you were for the rule of law regarding churches and political activity? This is your second thread on the topic today. In both cases though, you have targeted conservatives and not progressive churches. Why?

What Church are you talking about?

If it is Wright's church, he hasn't been there for almost 5 years. ..

It was his church when the probable violations occurred. Nevermind, the OP is probably done with his two threads on this topic because Obama's church got away with it.

Hmmm I wonder which candidate the black preachers in the inner city are telling their patrons to vote for.

Think for myself, don't believe everything you read on the internet. The author of that article has not offered any proof that anyone from the IRS is even contemplating sending that guy a strongly worded letter. People can hope, but as long as this type of activity is confined to stupid churches in town with less than 400 people in Texas the IRS ain't going to do squat.

    Much ado about nothing.

Not anymore! President Obama left that Church quite a few month BEFORE the elections and Reverend Wright left that Church in March 2008.

And if that Church should have lost its tax free status. . .I would have seen nothing wrong with that!
