The obvious solution is not to try to find a way to keep the shooter from having this weapon, that would be crazy. No, if only those children were armed and could have been better trained for fighting a gun battle, that would be the constitutional way. Then maybe, just maybe they could have won the gun battle and not been killed, or maybe they still would be shot, but at least have a gun in their dead hands.

If only these people had hired armed guards.... tsk tsk tsk, the world would be so much better if we all needed armed guards to keep from being murdered by the sickos with guns.

now the details are still coming in, if the guns he used where from that house or somewhere else, that house look like they could afford a good 400 to 500.00$ gun safe [IMG] easily and it would of stop the nutty kid

I couldn't agree with you more and wonder why no one has responded to your op as yet. The thing is...violent video games, the "experts" say, has no lasting affect longer than say, 30 minutes on average kids. But, have they done studies on the kids who are autistic, schizophrenic, depressed, BULLIED, ect. Probably not. Those are the kids to worry about and lets no leave out the crazy adults...warped, armed and dangerous, like this guy.

    Jesus!

It was KNOWN this guy had a brain disorder, but he had guns anyway. And that on top of stabbing and dismembering a man. Come on... he was known to be violent before. GET HIS GUNS... put him under observation at least get him medicated and supervised for God's sake.

Imo...people who communicate threats should be taken very seriously. If they say they are going to "start killing people" ...BELIEVE them. If they have a violent background, particularly with a weapon... TAKE guns out of their proximity.

We are a stupid society that allows...forces out mentally ill and most violent to walk the streets...often homeless, often unmedicated and unsupervised. And then we demand we put guns ...guns, guns and more guns in every household, every hand... and then we wonder why innocent people are being murdered so often, mass murders, domestic violence, crimes from gang wars, robberies, vengence.

Coming to a vicinity near you soon... a gunman, armed with enough guns and ammo to take out you, your family and friends. And don't imagine that because you have a gun you can outmanuever him or her cause he will be ready for you.... have it all planned out...so that you will be caught off guard. That's how they seem to work it.

Do you think for a moment that the 15 year-old legally owned any firearm ? How does any of this matter ? He was going to take whatever firearm he could get and kill folks. As with Newtown, no doubt access to firearms was made available to a demented kid. It was negligent by whomever the owner was, but it is also the risk that comes with the legitimacy of the 2nd Amendment.

    Crazy folks kill people.

as you saying 15 year old, can't legal own or buy those guns ,so the registration of those guns and a background checks, magazine capacity limitations would of not stopped him at all from what he done today.
if he was older 21 years he still would of passed all those tested. so it the cause and the cause is why so many of these lately? the western movies of the 1950s and 60s and even dirty harry, Clint Eastwood [IMG] was good cops killing bad guys, good sheriffs shooting bad guys. now it crazy people [IMG] killing good people and video games that are slaughter arenas, for the mental kids to train them how too be better at killing.

Truck. WTF difference does it make what kind of gun was used ? Did the gun cause the crime ? What is your point here, unless it is to be a typical liberal know-nothing ?

could have done the exact same thing with a handgun. but in any case people need to protect their guns a lot better in homes where kids are present.

Where "mentally ill" kids are present. Some kids actually know how to respect the gun and not shot people. There was a time when guns were practically in every house and the majority of these houses didn't have a gun safe, trigger lock, etc... but kids didn't go on a rampage and kill their parents.

Yep Blame everything BUT the gun

When there appears to be defensive use it is a WONDERFUL weapon that kills the bad guys - when it is used in a mass shooting it is STILL a wonder weapon that kills.............Oh! Noes it doesn't kill then! It is the mentally unstable video game addicted wild eyed criminal

Should we assume that this would have been more acceptable if a Colt revolver was used?

The appearance characteristics of a firearm have absolutely nothing to do with it's ability to be misused for nefarious criminal purposes such as murder. The appearance characteristics have absolutely nothing to do with the functionality of a firearm and no firearm is designed to be used for nefarious criminal acts. A .223 calibur hunting rifle is just as deadly as a Bushmaster. In fact the .223 caliber hunting rifle is actually more deadly because it has a greater effective range and higher muzzle volocity than a .223 caliber Bushmaster while having the same rate of fire and magazine capacity.

The problem isn't firearms. The problem is the culture of violence in the United States. How many are aware of the fact that the United States has a higher murder rate than many countries based upon non-gun related murders? How many are aware of the fact that other countries have higher non-gun murder rates than the United States does including gun-related murders?

When are "gun control" advocates going to address the problem. It isn't guns that are the problem but it's the culture of violence that is the problem. Banning a firearm based upon "appearance" will do absolutely nothing in reducing murder in the United States. We look at horrific incidents such as this one but seem to ignore cases where people like Gary Ridgeway murdered 48 women and never used a firearm to commit any of those murders.

Serial killers murder more people and they rarely use firearms but the "control advocates" don't want to address these murders because it doesn't fit with their agenda. They're not concerned with "murder" but instead have a political agenda were murder is just an excuse.

AR-15 is designed and manufactured to cause more devastation than an ordinary handgun. For mass shootings it would be more efficient than a handgun, that is why it must be banned.

Military weapons are made as weapons of mass destruction, such as assault rifles. Handguns are not weapons of mass destruction

This merely reflects an ignorance of firearms. A handgun at close quarters, where most mass murders typically occur, is much more efficient than a rifle such as the AR15. The AR15 would be better suited for situations where the "target" is at 100 yards or more. A handgun is more effective for any shooting at less than 25 yards. Additionally, because most handguns are of larger calibers, they are far more deadly.

The AR15 is not a military firearm but is similiar in appearance to the M16. The M16 is designed for use in numerous military applications but rarely are those encounters at less than 25 yards and are more typically at about 100 yards where the M16 would be superior to a handgun. The M16 is not a weapon of "mass destruction" and I don't know where that silly idea originates. Perhaps, in the minds of some, a .50 caliber machine gun is but not an M16. The AR15 isn't even in the same class with either an M16 or a .50 cal. machine gun and I have no idea why anyone would think it is.

Well how about a handgun that shoots 30 rounds of 7.62 ammo?

The AR-15 is a weapon of mass destruction one cannot deny this fact, and it is a military style weapon at the very least.

Civilians can use the AR-15 to engage in extremely hostile acts domestically, but a far more important suggestion to be presented here is the banning of all assault rifles not just the AR-15.

Consider its cousin the Soviet made AK-47, no handgun of any caliber can compete with an AK-47 in a hostile, unfriendly, mass shooting on civilian soil. Any military or persons with professional firearms training would substantiate this claim. :salute:

That is not true. 9mm will make a bigger hole than an AR-15. 12 gauge shotgun does the most damage.

Evil Doers come in all backgrounds, now consider a military trained guy like Timothy Mcveigh armed with an AR-15.

A guy like him would position himself properly at over 100 yards at a place that is crowded, and cause a lot of destruction.

Banning assault guns is just common sense, as the President said.

Well this has been informative - you don't know what WMDs and assault rifles are. Thanks for sharing...

but you cant or don't want too consider what Timothy Mcveigh used [IMG] because it would take you off your agenda to take all guns away
