You proved nothing! The ONLY reason Switzerland is (relatively) safe with more guns (much fewer guns per capita then the US, by the way, and MUCH safer than the US) is because of the STRICT GUN LAWS!

When you bring an argument to the table, it might help you to look at he WHOLE argument first, and not just the "headlines" that are taken out of context vy the NRA and the Right wing propaganda!

    You fail!

Why are Americans, across the board, more violent than any other civilized country! That is the question!

And the Swiss only have assault weapons because they do not have a standing military, but a country regulated militia. . . You know. . .the kind our founders really met to exist?

And even then, ALL the guns are under strict control and very severe gun laws!

Tis was already discussed two weeks ago!

You seem to have a very short memory, but If you would like, I'll be glad to post the related link. . .AGAIN!

I'm not sure if you guys are just really thick or just pretending to be!

People drive cars EVERY DAY, and most of the driving they do is a necessity (to go to work or shoppin, or medical appointments). accidents happen, it is unfortunate, but it is the truth.

Now. . .how many hours in a week does the average American spend in a car?
And compare that to how many hours a YEAR the average American spends holding a gun in his hand?

Then, try to figure out if it is more dangerous to drive a car or to hold a gun in your hand, based on the time you spend with both of those objects.

Yeah and it was also negligence. Turns out the lady was texting.

Just like this pastor, it was an accident but it was also negligence on his part. Same thing

So your recourse to anecdotal evidence, is to provide anecdotal evidence.

    Logical.

You wonder why we resist your attempts to force gun control on us?

calling us 'gun nutters' explains a lot..

Holy crap this argument is so ignorant it's ridiculous. Cars were made to transport people, not kill people. That's why we keep cars around. Guns were made to kill people. Please stop with the garbage about how many ways people are "accidentally" killed by everyday household tools. When a gun is used to kill someone, it's being used for its intended purpose, unlike all of these other absurd examples.

If the gun is the problem then isn't the car responsible for all these kids deaths? Maybe we should ban them and go back to horses. We need to do it for the kids.

Concealed carry . They are concealed carrying it. How is this not being used for its purpose?

gun are design to shoot, its more efficient at killing compare to car, thats about it. if i goto range and shoot paper target, then its no different when i drive a sport car for fun. if someone use gun to shoot another person then its no different than someone try to run over a person with his car in parking lot. its like a sword vs kitchen knife, the sword is more efficient at killing compare than kitchen knife, but its always the person handling the tool decide what purpose they want to use for.

also since we have speed limit at 65-70mph, then why do we have to have car that can move faster than 70mph. and if drunk drive kill more people, then why not ban all the alcohols. same arguement for guns.

I don't think it matters to the person who gets killed.

It matters to those of us who wish not to be killed, whether by accident or by intent.

Yeah , as it sits in the garage and gets charged ( Chevy volt ) it's being used exactly as intended .

Really? I don't want to be run over by a car or shot by a gun an equal amount. That desire to not be killed is separate from what either object was made for. I don't care if Dan Aykroyd's Bag O' Glass was intended to be a children's toy or an object meant to cause harm. It has zero effect on my desire to not be killed by it.

Their addiction is not limited to guns, it extends to all of the terrible implements of war...but it's okay because they don't kill innocent civilians...okay, well they do kill innocents, b-b-but it's different...somehow.

Obviously you know better. . .Not the best "example" of intelligent sarcasm I've ever heard. . .but whatever.

And, I do not think it is the Left who is so concern about shrinking our defense spending!

Let's make something very clear. I do not like ANY guns and ANY "defense" arms.

For what I am concern, they are merely "necessary evils" because our culture MADE them that!

I am not more crazy about "guns" owned by the government than I am by guns owned by individuals. But I know it is necessary for the government to have SOME defense (although, in my opinion, since we spend about 7 times more on defense than the next country. . .it is a huge waste of funding that would much better be used to improve American LIFE, and HEALTH than to invade foreign nations and to kill foreign nationals).

I can even accept that some individuals feel (falsy) more "safe" owning a hand gun, or a rifle for hunting, or some other firer arm for sport or competition. However, I do not see why ANYONE in his right mind needs to own an arsenal, and CERTAINLY not military and assault weapons.

But, I still trust an elected government, even imperfect (as all governments are) than most individuals who feel they must have more than one hand gun to "defend" themselves!

I believe that if people have that increasingly paranoid feelings that they cannot be safe unless they are able to purchase a fire arm, and unless they are willing and ready to shoot anyone else for just about any "reason" (or lack thereof), they, themselves are not "safe" for others in their environment! So at the very least, I am completely in favor of every fire arm being REGISTERED, and every gun owner to be LICENSED after a careful and thorough back ground check that should include taking a psychological test with a specifically designed instrument (i.e., I believe police and military already have to go through that process).

I also believe that every assault weapons and high capacity magazine should be outlawed for any one else than law enforcement an the military.

And obviously, this will not resolve all our issues (even police officers and military personal can obviously go rogue!), but it would at the least reduce the availability of guns . . .and guns to crazy people.

Please, understand that I KNOW this opinion will be attacked, tore apart, belittle, ridicule, and that I will be the person that many in this forum "love to hate!"

And I don't care! In fact, I will just leave it at this, and not answer any of the attacks I know are coming!

    Have a nice evening!

Why are you so gunphobic? There's nothing wrong with guns. Have you ever spent any time around them? I used to be rather indifferent to them, and now I'm quite fond of them. They're cool.

That explains the differences in where people are coming from on this issue. You trust the government more than your neighbor. Personally, I trust my neighbor much more than I do the government. My neighbor never put anyone into concentration camps based on their ethnicity or imprisoned anyone without a trial. My neighbor also never gave people LSD without their knowledge just to see what happens, never killed an American citizen, and never let black men suffer with syphilis as a science experiment.
