Really not a big deal. This would be like FOX giving Bud Cramer his own show. Pro-life Voted no on bills to make discrimination based on gender illegal Supports the death penalty Supports school prayer voted to withhold funding from the UN Support free trade Rated A+ by the NRA Voted to ban physician-assisted suicide Voted yes on building a fence along the Mexican border Opposes the death tax Supports business tax credits Supports the war in Iraq Supports workfare Former elected Democrat who served in US House until 2009.
I don't mind their bias, Fox is bias too. It's their dishonesty that I don't like. They are experts at manipulating video and audio tape that keeps changing the way things happen or are said. You can't trust anything they say.
I've seen video edited professionally and cleverly on virtually every network I've viewed. If the organization has a 'bias', some of that will be reflected in whatever they may produce. Dishonesty? They ALL project untruths at times (whether it is intentional or not). People just have to accept that they need to check against other sources, if they want to get more to the bottom of things.
But that just proves my point.....Fox won't even give a conservative Democrat their own show. So....who's more biased? Fox or MSNBC?
To deny that Fox and right wingers do not accuse MSNBC and other left leaning networks of bias is simply not true. Both sides are bias. The difference is while MSNBC slants stories to favor their brand of politics and politicians, Fox news outright lies. For fair and balance reporting I suggest CNN, which is not ideal but better than the two networks above.
Is it really? Though perhaps this perception is mistaken, my understanding is the political culture of the U.K. is somewhat more centrist than the U.S. on social issues, while on economic issues has influential factions pushing just about everything from democratic socialism on the left all the way over to far-right, laissez-faire capitalism - making both the Democrats and Republicans look relatively mild in comparison. Then again, I suppose the preferences of folk vary there from one region to another, eh? Anyway, I found Troiiani's posts quite informative and see that there are certainly imperfections, yet on the whole from experience consider BBC broadcasts to generally present a higher quality of journalism than what I ever see anymore on private-sector television broadcasters in the States. CNN sometimes seems to do well, but often becomes sidetracked on sensationalizing the news, treating opposite extremes of perspective on certain issues as if they are equally valid, spending a lot of time on pop culture topics, and so on. Hmm...
MSNBC and FOX both have their bias, as many have pointed out here. I watch both as I like getting every angle I can and forming my own opinion. I do wish however that MSNBC would at least show the opinion of the right. Almost every opinion block show there brings in two leftist people to debate back and forth or rip on the right. At least on FOX they bring in a leftist to debate, even though the right slant is definitely there.
MSNBC lies! Remember how they apologized after they edited the Trayvon Martin 911 tape? Or how they edited the video of Romney at an event to make it seem as if though the crowd was chanting, "Ryan, Ryan"? (Huffington Post called them out on that one, lol.)
On every debate on FOX I've seen, the resident liberal that they invite is just talked over and yelled at to the point that they never actually get to say anything to disagree with. All televised media is designed for the lowest common denominator and shouldn't be taken seriously if you consider yourself a moderately intelligent human being. (although 60 minutes is an exception and I do find myself watching CBS news from time to time)
I found a youtube link to a portion of the BBC documentary on Culloden, if you'd like to watch it. It shows an extreme bias, that I think you can easily see. Below I also have a clip of Sound the Pibroch, by Makem and Clancy, telling it a very different way.
Kamalayka, editing Trayvon Martin's 911 tape and giving the impression that the crowd was chanting Ryan are not lies, it's just not telling the whole truth. And that's what I mean when I say, they slant stories to favor their brand of politics and politicians. Fox, besides spinning stories and regurgitating conservative talking points (which MSNBC does as well with liberal talking points) Fox outright makes up stories.. Things like. "Obama is a Muslim or he spent 200 million dollars on a trip to Asia. Or he's not an American citizen, or his healthcare reform bill has a death panel clause...I could go on and on. These are stories which have no bases. Just made up by Fox. While MSNBC edits or doesn't tell the whole story, there is a grain of truth in their reportage. Fox just makes up stuff.
I disagree, some shows shout down the liberals such as Hannity. These shows are very hard to watch and I usually don't because of just that. Most shows on Fox do in fact have the liberal side at least present. I believe you are lumping them all with the Hannities which is very unfair. MSNBC literally doesn't even have the rights argument present. How people don't see this is beyond me. I take all news seriously, even Maddow and Schultz which I watch/listen to regularly. Wile Fox will lean to the right, MSNBC doesn't even produce the other sides argument without some condescending smile.
I'm not denying that MSNBC is bull(*)(*)(*)(*). It's childish and pointless and I refuse to watch it. I'm just saying that FOX isn't much better, in my opinion.
Funny how party registration "doesn't matter"....when it comes to Fox NEVER giving a show to a Democratic politician. Yet the "totally liberal" MSNBC gave its prime morning slot to a guy who was in Congress as part of the "Gingrich Revolution". Once Fox gives a show to a Democrat who got elected to Congress in the 2006 overturn....then they can claim "fair and balanced and UNAFRAID" ....becauase obviously they're afraid of something... maybe a Dem having a show that DOESN'T tell the Fox viewers that "the polls are skewed" and "it's going to be a Romney landslide"???
I am a Lefty and I know MSNBC are bias! But Fox News is Extremely Bias to the point of making MSNBC Look Fair and Balance. I find it Entertaining to watch both. I Find Fox news more entertaining lets face it Fox News is not News. Real News is boring! No fun to watch! Being bias is profitable! 2 Extremes making news entertaining I like it.
FOX isn't biased at all. FOX has many liberals on their shows to level the political playing field. MSNBC has almost entirely leftist hacks on their shows with very little Conservative balance. I watch MSNBC to get a dose of the ignorant/biased/uniformed leftist viewpoints in which to relay to this forum inmy all loving manner.
Come on get real buddy!. I am a Liberal and I can at least admit the truth. Hannity, Bill O, they even admit they don't "like" the president! Every Story I read is constantly bashing at the president in fact today they had a picture of a lady who committed voter fraud and the president next to her I mean give me a break! if fox news was Fair it would be very boring!. It is fine to have both extremes actually and not Just one side.
You seem to think that liberal and Democrat are inseparable terms. How does it follow that MSNBC is NOT liberal because they have a (liberal) Republican? If you don't want to answer good questions, I'll just leave you to your little world. Oh. Morning Joe started 13 years after the 1994 elections, so FOX has until 2019 to give a show to an obscure House Democrat who took office in 2006?
All corporate media has its biases; how those are expressed in actuality varies, but it is reality. As for Fox News, their ratings aren't as hot these days. I suspect that LYING to the people hasn't 'helped' them. Republicans need to talk to 'liberal' media, and try to win in the arena of ideas, but I doubt they will take that 'opportunity'.
It targets progressive viewers in the same way Fox News targets conservative viewers. Neither is news. It's dogma tailored to specific audiences. Is that some kind of mystery? Really????
