There's been skeptics about the end of the world and the end of America for a long time, but America does indeed seem in a decline. or maybe it's just my imagination, I'm not really sure. But I AM interested to hear opinions from different people on what they see as happening with USA over the next 10 years.

My vision seems to be limited, I suspect dollar will lose another 50% or so of its' value (I think it lost about 50% over the last 10 years)
I'm not sure about collapse of the system, though like any patriotic human beings, I wish it would collapse to make way for something new. Unfortunately I will not be able to take any comfort in its' collapse unless I am absolutely sure that it will be replaced by something better, IN FACT, I am very pesimistic about who may already be in line of replacing it. But I have no reason to care too much.

I am an optimist and never recommend betting against the U.S., Even in the worst of time. Our system is set-up to allow change when needed. Better times will always be ahead of us.

What's that phrase... Faster, Better, Stronger, Farther?

... Fatter, Buttier, More pungent, and Weirder.

A bigger question may be "can it recover from Bush"?

Well within 10 years, maybe within 5, the Dollar monetary system WILL collapse. The Federal Reserve is issuing $85 BILLION of worthless paper PER MONTH, to hide the horrendous economy and unsustainable debt.
The US Dollar will collapse as did the German money, the Mexican money, the Argentine money, and the British money. And the British POUND WAS the monetary world standard for over 200 years. The Dollar now holds that position but the collapse of the POUND and the switch to the Dollar happened in my lifetime. So the Dollar has NOT been the world monetary standard for very long and cannot be sustained by printing worthless paper with nothing behind it.

The Fed MUST have collateral to back the Federal Reserve Notes they print. They print $85 billion per month of NEW money (not replacing of old worn money) with that money they purchase interest bearing US Treasury Bonds. And what is the collateral the Fed uses to back their Federal Reserve Notes? The U.S. Treasury Bonds they bought! An endless loop of pure BS until someone, China maybe, says, "Hey, wait a minute, that's not collateral!"

    CRASH! Bunko game over!

WHEN it happens, we can expect inflation above 30%, and unemployment as high, or higher. And a depression lasting 5 to 20 years.

America is already about 40 percent minorities. And virtually all minorities are Democrats. Combine minorities with white Democrats and the total is about 70 percent Democrat -- and growing by the hour.

America has already elected President Obama twice, and he'll likely be succeeded by his wife. During her term in office the economy will collapse and America will become just another third world nation. Today's young people and children won't even know the difference -- they'll think it's always been that way.

The majority of Americans want socialism. Maybe it's a good thing after all.

I will bet it looks like a cross between China and Mexico in about 30 to 50 years.

Not socialism but socially responsible capitalism something akin to what Canada practices. But alas, it's probably too late for that now. The right has the ball rolling to fast in their direction.

And so I envision the bulk of the working class scrounging for a meal and probably trying to grow their own corn to make a meal of tortillas out of it. Gun crime going all out of control as people need to start getting into illegal drugs to make ends meet. As well as people shooting their neighbours to make ends meet and feed their spawn.

When a country has the highest per capita average income in the world but has the world's second highest income inequality figures, behind Mexico, the result has to be poverty. Any civilization that would ever be stupid enough to let the situation deteriorate to that point has to be stupid to ever have a chance of rescuiing the system to make it work for the people.

But really, is that a prediction or is it just a factual analysis of the alredy status quo?

Watch the movie Tekken. That is how America will look when the corporatists finally take full control after 10 more years.

the corruption, violence, caste system, squalor, collapse of Rule of Law, over population, gangsterism, cartelism, superstitious cutlism, abdication of personal liberties and responsibilities, death squads, political assassinations, murder, rape, torture centers, strong-man politics.

devaluation of the dollar, water shortages for irrigation leading to severe food cost increases, continued deterioration of infrastructure due to lack of tax revenues available after debt interest costs, marginalization of the republican party due to aging and dissatisfaction on the part of social conservatives, reduced standards of living due to lack of workforce preparation for a more technological world.

Well ya got me that time Dan, Canada's form of capitalism is really communism. It's a new conspiracy we have going with Russia to take over your country, rape all your women, and dovour your young.

But first, we have Obama workinig with us to take away all your guns.
Oh, and have all people who didn't vote for Obama sent to the Gulags in Siberia for re-education.

Don't try to resist Dan because we will kill you with our drones if you do.

It's very much up in the air. Most honest analysts would have told you that the GOP was going to pick upseats in the Senate in 2012, and the GOP would have topples the President. Most analysts didnt forsee such a drawn out primary, and most didn't foresee GOP senators saying stupid sh*t left and right to lose easy wins (dishonest partisans will tell you otherwise)

That being said, I'm not sure how the Dems will turn out. Hillary might run again, and she will probably take a more moderate route than Obama, even if only slightly. The GOP is poised to turn over a new leaf. All (practically, for those of you who take the word 'all' more seriously than a girl takes the 'L word) of the junior GOP congressmen are staunchly libertarian. We're going to see the lagging effects of RP.

The country's relative influence will diminsh, but the doomsday speak is overdone. China's growth will peak, the EU is hanging by a thread. America will continue to dominate for decades to come.

the US will be just fine. It's the citizens who will take the licking as the middle class fools will continue to vote against their own best interests. Corporations are rolling in it while income inequality is next in line with Mexico's for being the worst example in the entire world. That will have no detrimental effect on the country at all because the working class will bend over and take it up the a-s forever in America. It's the American way and they believe in it with their hearts and it will never let them down!

Best case scenario is that the 1% will goad them into going for their granpappy's squirrel gun to even the score and that's when the 1% will sic the military on em. Mow em down like the stupid obliging vermin they are tying to be.

If democrats can block republican "supply side" tax cuts, and block Social Security from being privatized, or deficits will go down and we will be ok.

But if republicans take power they will do "supply side" tax cuts like Romneys $6.6 trillion dollar of tax cut for the rich (in the following link.)
    http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2011/09/07/313068/romneys-tax-plan-cost-6-6-trillion/

The entire $6.6 trillion dollars above would have gone to our national debt, and financed the building of US factories in China.

And if republicans privatize Social Security Wall Street CEO's will take $750 billion dollars in fees from everyones retirement money. And the CEO's who pay for our politicians campaign fees will have a field day with everyone's retirement. And (if) the money is invested in the stock market everyone will lose massive amounts of their retirement money if the stock market crashes.

But if America can realize that Reagans and GW Bush's "supply side" tax cuts created our national debt with loss of revenues, and the rest of our debt was created by GW Bushs for nothing Iraq war we will be ok.

But if republicans take power and do a $6.6 trillion dollar "supply side" tax cut (it will not be good.)

Right-wing intransigence and obstructionism has indeed set America's recovery back by years, and that's what they pray for.
But we are better than right-wing revenge voters, and their numbers will dwindle each year as more angry old white men die off.
America will recover from its right-wing nightmare.

That's funny. You think borrowing and printing more money to spend more on Friends of Obama would speed up the recovery?

In about 10 years I figure the USA (and to a lesser extent the entire world economy) will experience a major crash. Things will be really bad economically and the politicians will do a very bad job of handling the crisis and the rapid drop in the value of the dollar as it loses its defacto status as the world's currency. High inflation will effectively wipe out some savings and hard luck stories will be commonplace.

The point is that this will not be the end of the world, but a necessary adjustment to the excesses and imbalance that has built up in both the nation and the global economy. Just as the Great Depression didn't last forever and in fact paved the way for a more prosperous global economy in the 1950s and 1960s, the New Great Depression will make Americans take politics seriously again (instead of the partisan drivel we indulge in now) and outrage at systemic failures will pave the way for much-needed reforms.

So a decade from now things will be going to h - - l in a handbasket but in the longer term this will actually be a good thing.

For some, maturity and reality will come as an unpleasant shock. Others won't even know they missed both.
