There goes another $4 billion flushed down the alternate energy toilet. 82 programs administered by 9 different Government agencies. How about one agency to oversee the different programs? Senator Tom Coburn is one of the few that has the guts to address these wasteful spending practices. Hundreds of billions of dollars are wasted every year with duplicate programs administered by multiple agencies. The Federal Government is twice the size it was 11 1/2 years ago, it's has to stop or we will have a crash that will make 1929 look like a mild recession. The video is 40 minutes long and is only for those with a strong stomach, but bring a barf bag anyway. If each and every taxpayer was to be required to watch this video, minus a few patriots like Coburn, tax payers would descend on Capitol Hill, drag them out naked, tar 'n feather 'em, chase 'em all the way to Annapolis with torches and pitchforks. Then toss 'em on a barge and tow 'em out to sea.
So you are basically saying that wind energy initiatives is fraud? Or are you saying that duplkication services is fraud? Or is it both?
Because it isn't that simple. Look at ERISA for instance. The tax part is handled by the Department of the treasury. The administration of ERISA is handled by DOL. And the prosecution of people violating ERISA is handled by DOJ. And yet, you want one agency to handle ERISA? We can extrapolate wind energy where you have DOE, Dept of Agricutlure and Department of treasury pimarily overseeing wind initiatives. So you want one agency to handle wind farms projects?. Granted, there needs to be improvement, but anything or any system or any methodology can be improved. But making only one agency handle the wind initiatives does not necessarily mean cost effectiveness or improvement.
the video goes through countless items some of which have close 80 different programs doing the same thing through many many different agencies. Its called waste.
The overall goal may be the same, but the specifics amongst the various programs differ. YOu have to look at the specifics and not the overall goal. For instance, if you read the GAO report and its recomendations, you will notice that some duplication is necesaary and that cooperation among the various agencies is waht the GAO was recommending to share its resources. ,
I did. The recommendations that the GAO gave as well as the Department of Energy agreeing to some of the recommendations do not match what Sen Coburn is stating on the typical doomsday responses about the Federal Budget.
Some duplication yes. 80 programs over 15 agencies no.... - - - Updated - - - Factual information is not doomsday. I guess that is the new talking point now eh? Go against the Krugman disciples and just throw out doomsday? Is it the new economic race card?
