Interactive graphic The FBI stage-managed the sale of Spring Valley-owned land to snare the village's mayor and deputy mayor in a far-reaching corruption and bribery scandal that exposed a Democratic state senator's desperate bid to get his name on the Republican ticket in the race for mayor of New York City, authorities said Tuesday. Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin and Deputy Mayor Joseph A. Desmaret were arrested Tuesday morning by FBI agents and charged with mail fraud for their alleged role in approving the sale of the land that was to be used for a community center. They each face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
