As long as the working class, and working is considered demeaning, and worthless, this trend will continue, as will the rich/elites getting richer. The ying has abandoned the yang, and as long as the best government corporate money can buy remains the driving force in the economy, nothing is really gong to change for the better of the majority. So tighten your seat belt its gonna be a long ride.

The best way to solve poverty in America is to end welfare.

Government handouts attract marginal people to failure and rewards for failure.

Without the handouts deadbeats would be forced to work and earn for themselves.

Corporations do not control personal responsibility. In the 50's and 60's many parents including my own father worked 3 jobs to provide for our family. He put his best foot forward and went to work, all the time being grateful to have these jobs. Do you actually think our society has that mindset today?

Below is a poem that Dr Ben Carson's Mom read to them every time her two boys tried to make excuses. We should all live by this poem:

If things go bad for you
And make you a bit ashamed
Often you will find out that
    You have yourself to blame

    Swiftly we ran to mischief
And then the bad luck came
    Why do we fault others?
    We have ourselves to blame

    Whatever happens to us,
    Here is what we say
“Had it not been for so-and-so
Things wouldn’t have gone that way.”

And if you are short of friends,
I’ll tell you what to do
    Make an examination,
You’ll find the faults in you…

You’re the captain of your ship,
    So agree with the same
    If you travel downward
    You have yourself to blame

Hey...let's purposely increase their basic necessity expenses with our energy policies, and destroy the purchasing power of their dollars with our borrow / print monetary policies!!

The biggest lie ever told.... "We're progressives, and we're for the poor and middle class"

Then be prepared to pay much more in opening prisons and communal prisons, because there are no jobs to support all the people who have been trained to be dependent on the system that was created by the rich, not the poor.

Billy there is a reason why the poor could maintain an existence before WWII. Over 90% of the population was farmers, and most of them supplemented their annual income (off season) as domesticated help. They had just enough to survive on and did, because that is all they knew. Most of the people who have been indoctrinated into dependency, think milk comes from the grocery store, wouldn't know a tomato plant from poison ivy, and honestly have never had to fend for themselves, ever. It would be no different than taking a trust fund baby and stripping them of their inheritance and dumping them in the ghetto. Like tossing a lamb into a wolves den.

Certainly inspiring words for anyone who has unlimited opportunities at their disposal, good work ethics, a sense of responsibility, and reasonable intelligence, but for most of the dependency stricken, might as well be written in Martian.

Oh and the major corporations/rich/elites own therefore, control the government. And for the past several decades the government is the problem.

If it comes to that I would rather spend the money on prisons than welfare.

But I don't think it would be that bad.

First we would deport all the illegal aliens who are "just doing the jobs that Americans refuse to do."

Because even Obama voters will work if they get hungry enough.

Sure some will turn to crime but most will not.

Dr Carson's mom worked 3 jobs, you think that circumstance was easy? All things are possible in the United States, why do you think we have millions of illegals crossing our border with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Government is not the answer to all things

Do you really believe that all welfare recipients are just deadbeats?

    Nothing is ever 100%.

But a high percentage of them are underachieving because welfare allows them to.

And who will send the illegals home, Obama? Republicans? Please don't be so foolish as to believe such idiocy. Illegal aliens are not going anywhere but to the welfare office to supplement their already insufficient incomes, with fake ID's if necessary. IOW business as usual on that field of dreams.

I'm all for work programs to compensate for "partial" government subsidies to get these dead beats back to work, but it is going to take a while to teach old dogs new tricks if you know what I mean.

I also am in favor of charging anybody who hires illegals as the organized criminals that they need to be categorized as. Stiff fines and penalties per illegal, and all assets (ill-gotten gains) confiscated to be sold at state auction to cover costs, and refusal for those individuals to obtain a business license after their second offense, but that is just me. Both parties are against such common sense approaches to this crippling problem, because they are paid extremely well by their rich/elite masters to turn their head and cough at any aggressive action using the laws that are already on the books to eliminate this problem at the source.

Not sure what Dr Carson's mother has to do with generations of families being taught to be government dependents, but Dr Carson isn't the one living off the government is he? Or is he? It's so hard with so many rich and poor living on the government welfare system.

I agree government isn't and shouldn't be the only answer to all things but when the government is being directed to act only in the best interest of a small minority, the system goes to hell. Example, the last 40 years of what happens when the government is manipulated by the rich/elites. Cronyism rules, capitalism is bastardized, and competition is hamstrung, in other words doesn't exist, except in very limited quantities.

That makes no sense in light of your previous statements.

You want government to pay American citizens to lay around and do nothing.

So employers will not have them as workers.

And you want the illegal aliens to remain in the country but not allow them to work.

More people on welfare that we cannot afford to support.

So who will do the work?

Given the damage done to the economy since the mid-60s by the combination of excessive taxation, excessive regulation, excessive litigation and a pervasive culture of dependency, is this any surprise?

Oh don't say that. That's just being mean. Most are on welfare do to no fault of their own. They never did ANYTHING to put them or keep them there. Its the schools fault and business that won't hire them and colleges that won't accept them and banks that won't loan them money, ect, ect. Its rich people who keep people on welfare.

I just lost my warehouse manager and have been interviewing.

6, 19-24 year olds came in yesterday for an interview. Now I know it's not an amazing job but we pay $35k to move boxes and fill out the appropriate forms for 6 hours per day. Better than most jobs I'm sure.

The level of talent that came in was seriously just sad. Three of the 6 had not one bit of employment history.

I am just scared what this massive group of people will turn into in the next 15-20 years. They have no drive, no ambition and a massive sense of entitlement.

Question of the day during interviews was: "Between vacation days and sick days, how many Fridays could I take off for a three day weekend per year?"

I want the employers who use illegals to be put on notice and if they continue to hire illegals they will to be charged as the organized criminals that they are. Where does that say leave illegals in the country? They need to be taken off the welfare programs they never should have had access to begin with and the jobs they seek need to be eliminated, and the only way to efficiently do that is to go after the people who hire them "illegally". They will self deport when there is no government support or jobs to seek.

I said nothing that contradicts anything. There will be people who need help, but able bodied individuals who have been programmed into government dependency need to be reprogrammed into workers. If they can't find a job and need help the money that tax payers provide for them to meet their basic needs (partial subsidies not full welfare) needs to be worked for not just handed over. They can pick up trash on the side of the roads, beautify the poverty stricken neighborhoods, work at disposing of old condemned structures (safety/health hazards), and babysit for individuals who are doing that work.

Let's say they get $600.00 from the government to help them get by while they are living in somebodies basement. That would require them to work around 90 hours to pay for the money the tax payers are providing to 'help' them. The rest of their time needs to be spent actually looking for and obtaining employment from the private sector. This was started back in the 80's but the republicans who took the initiative to start such programs, mismanaged the program and misused the workers, paying them less than minimum wage for the work they did, while still giving them access to full benefits, and the programs were stopped. IOW they screwed the pooch on a system that should have eliminated the need for government dependency for many in the day and their children to come. Because it was misused by a bunch of greedy bastards it was deemed a failure. Probably done on purpose.

NO! And why was the government manipulating such things? To benefit the rich/elites and to eliminate self reliance as well as competition.

Groucho Marx has nothing to do with it. It is all about Karl Marx and Engels. I pulled myself and my family up by the bootstraps from making $60.00/week to a middle class level. All without help from the unions, or the Democrats.

Well good for you, you are an inspiration of how things in the 60's were so much better for the economy than the cronyism that rules the day today. Lots of us remember the old days, but don't try to compare the two examples of then and now as the same. It's apples and oranges really.

The reasons for excessive taxation, regulation, litigation and the culture of dependency are irrelevant. All four have to go.

You said nothing about illegal aliens who forge documents to get jobs.

But let's assume you mean employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens.

In some cases I will agree that when it takes place on a large scale at large companies such as Tyson's Chicken there is a conspiracy to break the law.

They were actually helping to smuggle the illegals into the country and bring them to their plants to work.

But put yourself in shoes of Pilgrims Chicken who is losing market share because Tysons has a lower price.

You complain to Janet Incompetano and Eric Holder but they give you a bunch of double talk about how the border has never been more secure and prosecutions are up 5000% since Obama became president but they don't investigate your competitors.

    What will you do?

Just quietly go out of business?

    [/QUOTE]

As for weening Obama voters off welfare I don't see any sort of economic methadone program as the best way to do it.

They will have to kick the habit of government dependency cold turkey.

It will be painful at first but the best for them and us in the long run.

Yes them and the little old lady who hires them to mow their grass, all criminals who need to be held accountable.

We are running to completely different problems together here, so it is easy to see why you are confused about what I am saying.

But as far as the cold turkey response, you don't want to solve anything at all you just want to create more chaos and mayhem, got it. Nobody is going to hire anybody who hasn't held a job in a couple years, much less somebody who has been on welfare for 10 years. People who have been milking the system for their unemployment benefits to run out are considered unemployable since they haven't had a job in more than a year. Going from one extreme to another isn't going to solve anything, just (*)(*)(*)(*) (*)(*)(*)(*) up worse. This is why the two party scam is such a sham. Extremism isn't the solution to anything.
