A futile effort. That toothpaste is out of the tube. That's just like giving someone a pair of flippers and telling then to swim across the Pacific ocean.
I fundamentally disagree with the premise underpinning the 'war of all against all' as outlined in Leviathan, for example, which is often used by its apologists as the ideological justification for capitalism.
What counts as porn? Pictures of naked women? Those silly "porno" videos with bad plots? Most pornographic material is pretty tame. I don't see what's so horrible about videos depicting men's fantasies where gorgeous women want to have sex with them, they're obviously not meant to be realistic and most men are smart enough to see that. Your brand of psuedo-feminist puritanicism is disgusting, you want men's sexuality to conform to what you personally find within your narrow range to be acceptable.
It's a result of the conflicted nature of the people of the US, which flows from the fact that the wealthy want to increase their profits infinitely. This results in them needed political power, which they get from appealing to elements in the religious right. Also they want people focused to the max on making them money, At the same time, they want to profit from the sex industry. The result is conflict and the situation that you mentioned. Of course if you have money, and you look hard enough, a prostitute can be obtained. It's amazing that although we purport to be a progressive, fun loving, modern country, we can't even do something as simple as that right. Really amazing how people inflict so much unnecessary suffering on themselves here.
The rich can't get people to vote for them for policies that simply make them money. So they pay people like Bill O'Reilly to spout propaganda designed to get them votes. But what does O'Reilly really want? ROFLMAO @ "little short brown woman" asked to see his penis and was "amazed."!!!!
To finish up on Mr O'Reilly Evidently the lady decided to leave the job. Any rate, the point is that much of the conflict that exists in the psyche of the US public can be traced to influence of the rich and powerful.
I can't say I know for sure, but I would speculate that what is behind this push for morality in Uganda has more to do with power, than with a genuine desire to create an atmosphere of true righteousness.
I don't agree with Hobbes perspective either but the aristocracy really liked him. His social contract did not respect the rights of the individual and was not derived from the Golden rule. Locke is much better IMO. Here is a brief comparison. http://jim.com/hobbes.htm The point was not to embrace any particular perspective but to show that there are various theories by which one can come to same conclusion.
Look at the track record of countries that ban things like porn and certain articles of female clothing. They're usually all poor and ultra religious. It's better to emulate the west.
Let's suppose they ban mini skirts and pornography. What are they going to do about the internet? How will they keep people from smuggling pornography into the country? What about the pictures that are already in people's minds, how will they stop that? Like I said, it's like giving a man a pair of flippers and telling him to swim across the Pacific ocean.
I personally don't see this a huge issue. In the U.S...a woman baring her breasts will find herself in jail...unless its not in public or in a topless bar of course. Morality and modesty does differ from society to society. The point is....who is dictating this decree? Is it some authoritarian? Or do they have a republic where the people have a voice?

Yes, I understand that. In some areas and events the obscene laws are ignored or lenient dependent on that city's laws. Which really is why our system of government allows individual societies within our republic to contruct morality laws fitting to those societies. Another example might be gay pride parades and some of San Francisco's more colorful festivals. But as a rule in less depraved America---if a man walked about with a string bikini and a leather leash around his neck or a woman walked topless they would end up in jail or court.
Between that pic, the Femen threads and the French Study goes Bust thread, we sure are seeing a lot more boob action at PF. You really have to wonder if the mods find it titillating, or are they thinking of nipping this in the bud?
