You refuse to acknowledge corporate greed and it's associated pitfalls because (I would assume) you thrive on such a thing. You don't want your own gravy train upset. Once again, I understand. Bain was the "pioneer in outsourcing" and Romney was still collecting a fat check as CEO and his name is all over Bain, so, gimme a break with that nonsense. The CURRENT form of corporate raidering IS what is killing this nation. Corporations are fatter than they've ever been at any point in history (primarily through outsourcing/eliminating or otherwise hacking labor).

Corporations suck, big time. Republicans/conservations (I make do distinctions as one is the other) aren't far behind, and arrogant fat cat corporate people that THINK that THEY "worked" for what they have are only BSing themselves. They got it through attrition, not through some wonderful vision or intellectual prowess they THINK they created. They TOOK. That's why the fat cats are the fattest right now (and they got really good at taking and blaming the poor folks for our current problems, which is a cute trick but not very "creative", more like cunning). They continue to have lobbyists write all their rules and laws to benefit THEMSELVES, they pay off the corrupt political corporate pigs and they cook the books while they hide their stolen wealth somewhere offshore. THAT is corporate America bud, and we can do MUCH, MUCH better (except we won't because the public is largely completely ignorant).

We make very little of anything. We move piles of money from one spot to another and call it "successful business". We've sold out own country out for profit and you've here to defend it. I understand.

No my horribly naive little gnat, I do acknowledge that some corporate larceny does go on. Some goes on in churches as well. some goes on in every walk of life. But corporations are role models compared to the larceny of parasites that DEMAND others support you from the cradle to the grave. Your parasitic existence IS a life of larceny with NO redeeming quality whatsoever.. Corporations aren't picture perfect, but the do provide jobs and paychecks to be taxed. They do produce profits to be taxed. They PROVIDE the govt with the funds to support you parasites.
You parasites produce nothing but whining.

Did your liberal eyes fail to see the words: DEFINED BENEFIT PACKAGE? That is total and complete support for my FACTS, not contention.

Someone else posted a link and an except to the bill that requires pre-funding for the USPS.

So your idiotic claim is that its Congress's fault for insisting that the USPS FUND the insane and UNAFFORDABLE pay agreement with their unions?
The FAULT is the USPS agreeing to contr4acts that they cannot pay. Congress is simply insisting they live up to the retirement agreements they made. The USPS will NOT live up to those agreements, but the pre-funding will ease the burden on the taxpayer WHEN the USPS defaults on their insane and stupid and corrupt contract.

Here is what I read in a previous post; you, however, have yet to even provide a link to establish more confidence in your sincerity.

They "provide" less and less of anything except evaporating payrolls than ever. That's why they're the fattest ever. The first thing a new CEO does when they come in is look at how much they can cut the labor force. That's ALL they do. They're not there to help any employee do anything, only hurt them. Corporations suck donkey ******* dude. You know it. I know it. So who are we bsing here?

And you and the rest of the parasites have provided nothing ever, and you never will.

And your total misconception of life is exceeded only by your out of control, raging, paranoia. You should seek counseling.. The world at its worst is not half as bad as you're convinced it is. Living in your head must be horrendous torture, 24/7/365.

How typical the moral of "goodwill toward men" manifests itself on the Right.

Merely increasing the circulation of money in our money based markets is what can engender positive multiplier effects on our economy.

We do everything for mega profit..right here, right now, and screw tomorrow. Not like the days of old when one could actually earn themselves a decent future simply by working for a living because corporate tycoons have sucked everything dry and your work means nothing to the fat cat. Your loyalty means nothing, and you mean nothing. You're just an unfortunate expense that gets in the way of mega profit for the very few. The world wasn't always this way but, it is today only a small piddlin' of what it used to be, all thanks to the greed of the mighty corporate snake. Not half as bad? In your elitist world, probably that's true. For the regular working slob, it blows. I need no stinkin' counselin' man. I just need the corporation to die and their fat cats to fall off the stock market roofs. Our society is as dysfunctional as Washington is nowadays. Wonder why? Living in your head must be a real treat too. Self righteous, indignant and and evil.

Nope, Proud of the life I've lived and the COMPLETELY HONEST and lucrative living I've earned. Neither thing will you ever be able to truthfully say.

I doubt you'll even be able to say that you were an efficient and effective parasite. Just a routine boil on the backside of the nation.

You rant and wail and whine about fat cats and you know NOTHING about people that are capable and determined to make their lives better. All you know is you don't have the ability to compete with them. So you cry and lie about them.

Parasite 101, YOU are the poster boy.

The corporate shysters I refer to are determined to take everything for themselves. Long term success isn't possible any more, thanks to the corporation.

Your self delusion and paranoia are sad to observe. The ONLY thing that stops anyone from success is a THEMSELVES. Otherwise, everyone that is determined and makes the concerted effort, WILL be as successful as their own abilities allow. Many successful beyond their own abilities.

    YOU won't be among them.

Your wish to blame others for YOUR failures is understandable. Sad, but understandable. Always easier to blame some mysterious "others." Just look in a mirror. All your troubles will be reflected there.

Just for the record, you know nothing about me, what I do, or what I've done. Further, I'm doing okay despite the corporate stranglehold that will soon destroy all that breathes, so, that's that.

People like YOU (those that rant against government at every turn and brag about how successful THEY are and badmouth anyone that criticizes the corporate circus that is killing America) are the poison that insures the corporate murder will continue. They take, you take, and leave everybody else holding the bag with the aftermath. The difference between you and me is that you celebrate the rape and applaud more of it and I point out what it is in reality. Now, go pop some fine champagne, get drunked up and continue your never ending rant on all that hinder your corporate dream.

I think narcissism and sociopathy is a prerequisite for CEO positions of many large companies.

Not all of them... but many of them, including some i've worked for.

And for the record, I'm doing quite fine and am happy with my life. I'm certainly not in the "1%", but I'm upper middle class. I've worked directly under the executives of multi-billion dollar corporations most of my adult life, and have lived comfortably from it, but ultimately left to change my career path after seeing the type of lifestyle and corruption going on. When a company becomes too big, it becomes all about the money and nothing about the community.

I'm tired of the abuse I see by corporate america, pretending that everything earned was "worked hard for and deserved" rather than taken through manipulation. And again, I'm not saying all of them.... but many of them. Corporations are, by definition, self-interested and beholden to the stockholders. When they get too big and the owners become separated from the communities they impact, society is left footing the bill and picking up the pieces of a disaster left at the hands of the "job creators". And while I generally consider myself "left", I don't think the dichotomy between "left" and "right" is quite accurate, the government can be just as bad, especially when it is bought and paid for by corporate america... and to that extent, I am with the Right when they see that the government is being used as a tool by special interests at the expense of the people.

    Good post.

There is little to no difference between corporate America and government today. Right, left. It doesn't really matter any more at this point. It's all one big lump of green and those that don't have piles of it will be the ones paying the price for the corporate slaughter. I'm happy that some (like you) apparently DO have a conscience though. It's a rare sight to see for sure.

You saeem to be operating under the delusion that everybody has some skill set that can make them a decent living from a small business while the Walton larvae are running small businesses out of business. Very strange view of how the world works,

If they did away with the postal service, the same people who are bashing it would complain about no longer getting the service.

What needs to be done is to fix it so it does not use as much money. What are the reasons it uses so much, and how can they be fixed?

I can tell you one thing, it would turn Nevada into an almost 100% blue state. Much of rural nevada (the republican dominated parts) rely on mail-in ballots during election season. Big businesses rely heavily on USPS for billing, payables, marketing, etc. Much of the country would be marginalized if the rates for delivery were determined solely on the profitability.... specifically, rural areas. Older people and poorer people who do not have access to computers or don't know how to use them effectively will also be marginalized in their ability to access information and conduct personal and political affairs. I suspect that eliminating the service would be felt to some degree by "left leaning" segments of the population, but it would have the most dramatic effects on right-leaning segments.

Hey, look, someone actually interested in discussing the problem and how it can be addressed rather than just trying to entertain themselves with partisan bickering :)

Well for one, they could figure out that pre-paid health plan they've got going on. Most private employers do not offer guaranteed pensions any more, it may make sense to switch this up for the government sector going forward as well.

Then again, I read a report that at the current rate, by ~2020, the pre-funded health fund will have so much money in it, the balance plus interest it earns will be able to pay for its expected expenditures for the next ~70 years with no additional funding. At that point, if they stop putting more funds into the program, they will be making a very large surplus again. Of course, they don't need to completely stop funding it. They should probably keep adding enough to the fund to make sure that the balance + interest is enough to cover expected expenditures indefinitely, and make periodic adjustments to the amount they fund to reflect changes in those projected expenditures.

Other things they could be doing? First we have to understand that this isn't entirely in USPS's control. They are governed by Congress who mandates the services they must offer, the services they can't offer, and the price they can offer it at. So congress needs to make the changes, or relinquish authority to some degree. As for changes they can make, 6 days of delivery probably isn't necessary. Most new neighborhoods don't have door-to-door delivery any more, but they could convert old ones. They already do this to some degree, but bidding contracts for private companies to run some, if not all, of USPS might be effective.

    Dan ran! That's a shocker.

Yeah let's just have private entities take over the mail system. It'll cost 10 times as much and take 10 times as long to transport. No thanks. Next thing you know they'll want bailouts.

Republicans want to abolish the US Post Office, so large corporations can take their funding and business.

How much money would it cost (you) every year, for FedEx or UPS to deliver your mail 5 days a week ??

The US government takes in $2 to $2.5 trillion dollars a year. The amount of money that the US government spends each year on the Post Office is chunk change.

FedEx charges $10.00 to send a small letter, the US Post office charges .42 cents.

But if America's conservatives would cut the wasteful spending in the US Post Office, it could cost .37 cents to send a letter.
