    Nope.

Just healthcare. Like the military and highways, some things adapt poorly to a free market. There is nowhere in the WORLD where "free market" health insurance works.

Isn't that how Social Security was supposed to work? They take so much out of your paycheck all your working life, so that when you reach a certain age, you start getting some of it back?

You seriously think that sort of thing will work for medicare?

The problem is, I don't trust the government to implement and run a program...it'll be over budget before you know it, oand they'll take our money for some other pet project, never be seen again, either in monetary or services form.

If it'll work for healthcare, it'll work for computers and real estate. It'll save us money and increase access. If markets can't allocate healthcare, then there is no reason to think they can allocate anything else.

P.S. - Free maket healthcare doesn't work because the state won't let it.

Our costs would go down if you liberals would get rid of the shackles. Get rid of the restriction of not being able to buy insurance from across state lines. This will force insurance companies to compete nationally. Get rid of the restriction of not being able to buy drugs from other countries like Canada. Let people get the drugs where they chose to get them and prices for these drugs would drop.

Where are these so called jobs? And how do I get one?

What does "rich people" have to do with my comment? Spending TWICE as much for healthcare does mean only rich people can afford it, but that is the beside the point.

Or are you just not bothering to even read my posts and simply putting up a random-chosen "Leftie Criticism #92" from the Right Wing handbook?

This BS "cost saving idea" is simply a proposal by insurance companies so they can "state shop" for the state with the least laws that would control their ripoffs, like the credit card companies did with interest rates. There is NO state that doesn't have a big enough pool to get a decent rate.
BS. They will all crouch down in North Dakota or wherever that gives them immunity from responsibility for ANYTHING.

Insurance COSTS for the companies themselves would drop like a rock, but their PREMIUMS would not change by a penny! Sorry, irginai, there are no Santa Clauses in insurance pricing and underwriting!

Talk to the Republicans and the drug lobbyists on that one! No one is MORE "pro-government controls" than Republicans on the corporate dole! In fact, why haven't they introduced and passed a bill for that purpose?

Why don't the Republicans EVER do ANYTHING to improve healthcare and lower prices and increase competition? Obamacare isn't stopping them!

Yes, because EVERY product market is EXACTLY the same and are subject to analogous market conditions.

    What a goofy premise!

Healthcare insurance (which is all that we are managing with the ACA, not healthcare) is entirely different from "computers and real estate". Aside form the utterly different market realities and markets, one of the MANY problems we would have with 100% "free market allocation of healthcare" is all the dead and dying people that we would have lying around, and the plagues and other problems they would create, when the people with more money outbid the people with little money for services.

Gee, we would be just like India and Bangladesh! Wouldn't that make us a great example of "American Exceptionalism"!

Have you figured a way to do this without raising taxes?

    If not, go away.

Conservatives would rather ignore facts than admit how stupid their policies are.

How was it a strawman? You literally claimed that if one product market is inefficient, then all markets are inefficient.

I have zero problems with it... that is, with my private insurer through Medicare. I wish my whole family could get it.

Just take a look at the numbers for the health care battle.

The insurance industry spent more money fighting health care reform than the GOP spent on John McCain's presidential campaign. 80% of that money went to Republicans.

When George W Bush gave his big wet kiss to big pharma and the insurance industry in the form of Medicare Part D, the Republican Congressman who led the conference committee got rewarded with at $2 million a year job as president of PHARMA.

The old "they all do it" excuse doesn't work when it's that blatant.,
