http://dcclothesline.com/2013/08/29...-terrorists-in-official-government-documents/ I'm extremely appalled by this list. I'm pretty progressive, but damn, about half of these apply to me. I'll respond to a few of the points here: 1. Those that talk about “individual liberties” I guess George Washington is a terrorist now. 3. Those that want “to make the world a better place” Would liberals also be profiled under this one, or just the conservatives? 7. Anyone that holds a “political ideology that considers the state to be unnecessary, harmful,or undesirable” Well, it is all three of those things. Recognizing the truth is now terrorism. 30. Anyone that “complains about bias” That's because bias is a problem on both sides. Don't try to tell me what to think. 48. Those that “believe in conspiracy theories” If I want to believe in green, shape-shifting reptilians that transform into politicians, it's my right, dammit. 64. “Anti-abortion activists” The peaceful ones who simply believe it's murder, or the radical ones that bomb abortion clinics? There's a distinction that's lacking here. 60. Those concerned about “illegal immigration” Gee, that might be because it's "illegal." I'm not going to refute them all, but this list is pretty worrisome in general. If followed seriously, almost anyone could be labelled a terrorist, according to this criteria.
I am very concerned about privacy invasions going on and what that means for the future but the list of 72 (often repeating itself) is taken out of context and doesn't accurately represent overall the 5 or so articles the list linked to Of what I read from the 133pg doc "FSS 0910 EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND TREATMENT INCIDENTS (EOTI)LESSON PLAN PART 1" you have the military identifying extremism within the military and what to do about it. There's definitions of terms being used, meanings of symbols, tattoos, what beliefs are of certain groups. It mentions how these groups often want their members to enlist to get weapons and combat training which is probably why you usually see only retired military working for the Republican party. The military has a lot of problems but of what I read, it looked like at least officially, the military doesn't endorse extremism even if right wing extremists, political party/corporate reps that so often align themselves with the military act like they are on the same page about everything.
You are right, they don't endorse extremism. That is why 67% of military members vote republican consistently.
Entirely laughable. Our government is in no position to determine what is "extremist" here at home. J Edgar Hoover was that kind of moralist, remember? And no one likes his sorry ass, and no one respects it either. Clearly, J Edgar himself turns out to be the extremist, not the people he was wiretapping whom he considered "dangerous".
The list speaks for itself. All of those 72 points are supposed to be traits to look for in potential terrorists.
All good points I agree with. And rest assured Obama would love to consider anyone who questions him or his policies a terrorist.
Except opinion is not evidence. What the government said was that extremists use those kinds of ideas to cloak their extremism. Not that saying those things makes you an extremist. Good Lord why do I have to keep pointing this out?
You sure can mince words. So my anti government website that tries to make the world better by etc..etc... wont be given special scrutiny? Why dont you get this stuff has a chilling effect on speech?
And to think there's still fools out there telling us that we have nothing to worry from a powerful and intrusive state?
It looks like you (and others) didn't notice that each point linked to something. And if you did, you didn't bother to click on them to see what that was. But let's say you did. you couldn't possibly have READ it before you decided to post Michael Snyder's "opinion" as fact. And if you did read any of it, you would have noticed minimally that nothing linked to shows a list of 72
DC Clothesline is nothing more than someone making a post on this forum. None of the people who make entries have any credible background in what they talk about. Therefore this list is just as dumb as it sounds.
