Just thought I'd share this one. Looks like Mexico. But this is what happens when citizens are able to possess the tools to preserve their own lives--they don't become victims. The added bonus of course is that the vehicle owner probably saved countless lives by ridding his community off this worthless thug. That needs to happen more often, untill criminals understand they might come out on the short end of the stick.
Agreed. And this is whay the gun grabbers don't get: Even the dumbest criminal has to calculate the odds. Would I rather carjack someone in heavily gun-contolled Chicago? Or in Arizona where citizens are free to carry and many many do?
I have no problem with people owning guns for self defense....But the pro-gun people need to stop pretending things like this never happens, or worse yet defending it. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-57566529-504083/georgia-man-69-accused-of-fatally-shooting-22-year-old-who-drove-into-wrong-driveway/ This man simply walks out of his house with a pistol and starts shooting at the car with absolutely no warning because he decided that the man who pulled into the wrong driveway while going to a friend's house wanted to rob and kill him.
There are always exceptions and aberations and a small number of examples that go against the norm. But the bottom line is that gun control doesn't work. And you can't prove that it does. Because it just doesn't change human nature. Why raise false hopes by suggesting that gun control will eliminate gun violence? You are just setting up some innocent, naive young or old person into believing gun control will make them safe then when the violence invades a gun free zone or a city or town with strict gun laws and it touches that innocent person and they ask why didn't the gun control law keep them safe, what will you say? You tell them you were just playing politics and being more hopeful than realistic. You knew gun control laws disarm only the good guys. But you only thought about making useless politically minded gestures which, unfortunately, but predictably left innocent citizens vulnerable. Typical liberal.
The gun nuts who claim that the guy should not have been charged with a crime or have his gun rights stripped from him.
I see. You'd prefer the vehicle owner had been the one shot? - - - Updated - - - What crime do you think the man in this video committed?
The carjacker's mistake was in not shooting the driver immediately. Instead he thought that he could intimidate the driver, which gave the driver time to pull his own gun and shoot the carjacker.
Well the guy might be senile, but if it wasn't malicious then why should he be charged? If he legitimately believed that he was being robbed then charging him for murder wouldn't be right. I think the old guy should be sentenced to mental evaluation if anything, if it's true that the only thing that happened is someone pulled up in the wrong driveway.
He claimed that he shot him because he thought the man wanted to rob him. So he intended to kill the man the moment stepped out of his house.
Even the most liberal gun laws - and I mean liberal in the classic sense, not the restrictive - with regard to home invasion do not permit a homeowner to shoot someone for walking up to a house. I'm not sure what you think should have happened here. Do I think we need to have restrictions on gun ownership to make sure that the people that own them are sane and safe? Sure. Require people to go to a class and obtain a license to carry if you want... could be a class with education about the legality of using a gun... No reason to ban everything, as incidents like this carjacking are good deterrents to criminals.
People protecting themselves from carjackers is not a problem until they start shooting people who were walking towards their car because they "having a feeling" they are gojng to try and steal their car or hurt them. It's happened before, and in states like Florida, with STY, believing you are in danger is all it takes to get away with murder.
That is a problem. I believe the answer should be that people should earn the ability to carry by showing they are responsible and willing to learn the laws regarding firearms - i.e. a comprehensive gun-safety course required for certification to carry. If I draw a gun on someone, it should be to get them to stop what they are doing. If they continue being a danger to me or my family, then I can shoot.... but I can't comprehend how it is reasonable to allow people to shoot to kill right off of the bat.
