Jeez, he's not asking for $1.1 trillion in stimulus. That is putting the budget back on pre-sequester path, over 10 years.

 

Which tax cuts would those be? Last I checked, they were taken away....because reducing peoples income is always a great plan in a recession.

The sequester was his idea, and he promised obamacare was only going to cost 900 billion, when it actually costs 2.6 trillion....

I'm stimulating the economy. I'm the 50% that an economy needs to stay healthy...the buyers of goods.

 

If Obama had his way, he wouldn't be pushing for more stimulus spending? His pet Krugman is calling for more, why would Obama disagree?

Private Liquidation of the market is what's absolutely necessary, we need small businesses and the American People to get back to work again. That kind of activity can only be found by creating real, actual capital. Capital is money that you have, not money that you print.

For as much as the Democrats love Bill Clinton, they amazingly do not want to return to the Clinton economy. That magical thing called a surplus.

I want to, so I want to shave off as much of the debt as possible.

 

So you dont agree then? You dont get to say we need to slowly trim and then say we cant because it harms the economy. We have been spending more than we bring in for far too long, it is time to make common sense cuts. Not making the cuts create a $16 Trillion debt which is also bad for the economy.

So you are saying the economy has improved while we have cut spending? Sounds like a plan with a proven track record. BTW, Reagan was just as bad if not worse when it came to spending.

I am confused. Either the economy is getting better, which I think you have argued repeatedly or it isnt. If it is improving alongside the cuts "That has never happened in modern history" it must not be as harmful as you think. Suggesting that the economy would be even better without the cuts is just a matter of opinion.

Increased revenues along with reduced spending would be helpful. The only problem is that people are for one or the other for the most part. I am sure you would rather raise taxes without curtailing spending. This will only bloat the government spending more, when we hit an economic lull, the spending will be totally unsustainable and cause a deep recession. If we reduce spending and increase revenues, we will be in a position to reduce debt and withstand the natural ebb and flow of the economy.

Actually, you could have been many times clearer. You made it clear that you thought Obama wanted to spend trillions in new stimulus. Then you asked me if I thought he would push for it, "if he had his way", whatever that means. So, obviously you are simply making unfounded assertions about what Obama wants based on your preconceived notions. That's all you needed to admit. You make up scenarios in your mind that you think would happen under some context that you won't explain and you're pretty much claiming that you're a mind reader.

 

Haven't seen any of those. Not much sense going down election promises lane is there? I also heard you don't raise taxes during a recession, the border was going to be tighter, here come the jobs etc etc...

In the real world however, all that's happened is the people got saddled with the removal of the tax cuts.

Less disposable income to spend and stimulate a troubled economy.
