Your question is dishonest. You made it where any answer would be wrong and would portray the respondent in a negative light. You don't know how common your types are my friend. You really should learn not to bait people.

    - - - Updated - - -

How is it intelligent to bait people? See how long it took you to explain the premise? It's because it makes no sense, and has no basis in reality.

Yup, lots of reality and perfect sense....some dopes think a person exists from the split second it's conceived so getting rid of it is murder. If you don't believe in executing murderers why can't you just say so intead of whining about the question you can't answer :)

Gee, can't help it when I can see right through your petty tactics, I've been at this thing for years. Try being honest for a change. Realize that some people are simply too intelligent to fall for your garbage.

Where is the baiting and please show why it has no basis in reality, you seem to think that just because it takes a while to explain the premise that-that negates it

It really is a very, very simple question, one which anyone with even a hint of honesty should be able to answer .. so why do you evade?

Evasion - no one disputes that a single celled organism is life, just as sperm is life, just as a plant cell is life, just as a heart cell is life, just as a human (adj) cell is life. The question is when does that human (adj) cell become a human (noun) .. which TBH I think you knew already, but decided to try and be clever to avoid the question.

I think ya stumped them again.....no responses except for waffling and whining about not being a fair question.....or the question is too long to read...or there could only be a negative response....which is the point they can't get :)

No basis in reality....or no basis in what the rhetoric of the "pro-lifers" is?

Do the "pro-lifers" NOT claim that "abortion is murder"?

Do "pro-lifers" who favor capital punishment, not want the death penalty for people who are convicted of murder?

By their own words.....why is my question "fantastical"?

They attack the question as "fantastical"....when it is solely and completely based on what pro-death penalty "pro-lifers" SAY....and simple extrapolation. And not even extrapolation...merely asking them if they are consistant in their stated beliefs.

But obviously they see the problem in what they say they believe when taken at face value. So what are we to believe?....except they are either too embarrassed to stick to their beliefs....or they don't really believe what they say.

Of course a single cell (which is not necessarily an organism and nor does it have to be to be considered life) inside of a womb is life.

You must have misread my post as there was no suggestion to the contrary.

We are the heartless ones? So far we have not advocated for the slaughter of the unborn!

Why do you not say "Yes, if a woman induces an abortion at 3 weeks, she has committed murder and if capital punishment is allowed, she should be executed for that murder"....

if not because you see how your STATED BELIEFS and sticking to them....would make you look heartless?

The constant dodging and subject changing and attacking the question...proves my point. If you are "pro-life" ...believe "abortion is murder"....support capital punishment....you have to HIDE what you believe when those two things are intermingled.....OR...you don't really believe what you say.

There is simply no middle ground in abortion. It's either a human child or it isn't. In your make believe scenario, wouldn't making abortion illegal, sort of imply that society at the point consider abortion to be the same as murder? In principle, I generally am against the death penalty in most circumstances, and I believe in an advanced society such as America, there is pretty much no need for the death penalty, but the state should always have that option and only exercise that option if the state feels that it simply cannot keep it's citizens safe from the most dangerous criminals.

Another thing that should be considered is that the way things are now, America is kind of split on abortion. The question of weather or not a person who killed someone in cold blood is not nearly as not nearly as ambiguous as abortion is in our society.

Consider the fact that the OP asked the question just before midnight on a weekday, and you ask the question you asked 12 hours later. This gives me the idea that this may be another troll thread meant to bait the other sided into a senseless argument meant to win points against the other side rather than having a meaningful discussion about the issue.

Your personal opinion not withstanding on the application of sentences for murder, the legal standings a very clear on the matter. 1st degree murder is defined as "any murder that is willful and premeditated", there is not added definition to this, and IF abortion were illegal it would meet the requirements of being defined as 1st degree murder.

Personally I think it is a very relevant question to ask, and one that certainly requires a frank and truthful discussion from both sides.

The difference between the two is that society in general does not see abortion as a crime. As a nation we are divided 50/50 on the issue.

You may have misunderstood me. The poster I was quoting was asking the question "why haven't any pro-lifers replied yet?" Some people just have better things to do than to see who said what on message boards every five minutes. The OP itself is a reasonable question to ask, I'm just not sure about his motivations for asking it.

Understand what you are saying, but if abortion was made illegal it would be irrelevant how society viewed abortion, the law would still have to be upheld .. unless .. the law concerning murder were also changed.

My mistake, I thought you were talking about the OP.

I think the motivation is to see if pro-lifers who consider abortion as murder are consistent in that belief or if it is more a case of sensationalism

My scenario is based solely on three things-

    1. The desires of the "pro-lifers"....i.e. abortion made illegal

    2. The rhetoric of the "pro-lfiers"...especially those also pro-death penalty...that "Abortion is murder".

    3. Granting them a hypothetical of #1 and asking if they are consistant on #2.

Nothing more. And you see how fiercely they resist defending their supposed beliefs and rather would attack somebody asking a question based on them.

The next question is ...why do they do that? And THAT answer seems obvious.

Why should the fetus get legal protection if it's not a person, and it's just a part of the woman's body? Hypocrisy.

The OP is flamebait because Gorn Captain is trying to criticize pro lifers and prove that they are dishonest/hypocritical.

    - - - Updated - - -

Pro lifers are not contradictory. The only reason you claim that pro lifers are hypocritical is because you ask them questions that are absurd.

The reality is that actions like abortion and birth control are becoming necessary things due to human overpopulation and it's affects on the overall health of the planet and it's sustainability, and with human birth rates only getting higher and the life expectancy getting longer it' would be irresponsible to force people to have more babies because of someone else's personal morals. I'm sure that sounds cruel to people but the alternative in many ways harms all species including our own if it continues along it's current path.

I agree with your post 100%.

Just want to add that we can apply that on a smaller scale... to individual women's "sustainability", to individual women's "overall health" and their responsibility in not adding to their problems, their children's, or the earth's.

I DID prove it, Sam....by the fact, almost none of them will answer the question because it would be embarrassing to them.

YOU refuse to answer it....because you are scared to death of looking like a radical and/or misogynist.

    - - - Updated - - -

Nobody should address Sam's question....until he addresses the question in the OP.

since when has anyone said it is part of the woman's body, that is you assumption not mine.

The first part of your question already has the answer in the comment you replied to.

funny that, I thought he was just asking a very relevant question that, so far, pro-lifers have avoided and evaded as much as possible.

So Sam, you are a pro-lifer who says abortion is murder, do you support the full extent of the punishment available to the courts when sentencing a woman who is found guilty of taking RU-486 and self-inducing an abortion at 3-4 weeks, up to an including the death penalty .. if not, why not?
