What proof, that it would make some a target of criminals? Really, if you do not believe that some big gangbanger that sees some small elderly woman carrying a gun on her hip would make her a target of opportunity then you do not know the criminal mind, for them it would be an easy way to get a gun. Since it is not legal to do so in the US, at least not until lately there are no true numbers but I would point out the fact that more than one police officer has had their own gun taken away from them and several have been shot by their own gun and these are people that are trained to defend themself in a fight and to be aware of the fact that it could happen, yet it does anyway, do you honestly believe some petite woman or even man would fair better.
