I never said it wasn't. I happen to agree with the environmental causes. Our environment on this planet dictates everything. What makes some birds fly south for the winter? A changing environment with the seasons. What changes the seasons? The amount of daylight and the tilting of the earth. All these things affect and change our environment. Our environment also dictates fluctuations in populations of animals and humans, and the causes are many. As are the cures. Sometimes the actual cure is a disease, flooding, drought, and yes, even homosexuality, that causes populations to balance. Every natural occurrence on this planet is dictated by environmental factors. It's up to you to deal with that reality. For some, hate will never let them break through that barrier of understanding.

Sure it does. Why? Because there is no logical reason to be against it. One of your buddies on here proved it was all about hate by declaring Homosexuality natural, yet it was abnormal, but it ends up being an act of perversion. First off, that makes no sense. Secondly, to have that kind of knowledge and wisdom to make such a statement that doesn't add up, the only one I know of that might understand his claim, would be God. So I guess, he must be God. The only one that could declare Homosexuality a perverse act and know what they are talking about, would be God.

Oh Please! The very claims of homoseuality being "perverse" alludes to not believing that gays should marry or even act upon their natural urges. Let me put it this way...do you support gay marriage?

Commercial fast food is garbage and commercially raised chickens are gross...where is the revelation here? Fact is, this guy did get rich on feeding people inferior poultry.

Okay, so Homosexuality is natural, but, it is abnormal. Which makes it perverse I guess? Shrug? My question is, how does he know it is perverse? Who or what told him, and how and where did he get his sources? I know of no link proving that Homosexuality is abnormal, making it perverse.

I want to teach folks? No, all I want is for all same-sex couples to have fully equal treatment before the law. Marriage is the absolute gold standard, and in nearly every case the only institution that confers any form of legal status on a couple, so that is what we are aiming for. I know your problem lies with usage of the word "marriage"- but I'm afraid the courts do not have the power to create a NEW legal institution such as a civil union, they can only remove existing prohibitions on same-sex couples marrying. And of course, civil unions and registered partnerships would likely be deemed unconstitutional under the unlawful "separate-but-equal" principle.

As I said: I have never had the experience of finding a woman attractive. I'm sorry that doesn't convince you, but it's absolutely true, and you can ask others and they will tell you the same thing. As I've said, the existing evidence points to undetermined biological and environmental factors, but the fact that there were environmental influences involved does not in any way imply conscious choice was involved, nor does it mean it can be altered in any meaningful way (since those factors whatever they may be are likely to have occurred at a young age). Personally speaking I knew I was attracted to males aged 6 or 7.

Except for the fact that being gay does not make you infertile... gay people can and do have kids. Surrogacy for gay men, in-vitro fertilisation for lesbian women. Studies show that about 25% of same-sex couples are now raising children, with that figure increasing all the time (with equal marriage no doubt boosting the number of same-sex couples wanting to have kids). Homosexuality will never be the preferred behaviour because most people are, as you yourself say, born with strong & innate compulsions to the opposite sex. This isn't an argument to be taken seriously by any stretch of the imagination.

Look, the vast majority of people, even most who disagree with SSM don't regard homosexuality as an existential threat to the human race. You are demanding proof you will probably never get, and meanwhile the ground is shifting beneath your feet towards a more socially just society. I think you just need to relax and stop worrying about such an unrealistic scenario. Global nuclear war, extreme environmental changes and asteroids from outer space present a FAR more realistic existential threat to us. I think a gaypocalypse is as likely as Joan Rivers rising from the grave tomorrow and doing that (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) show I booked to see her in.

Very few "homosexuals" claim this, and the ones who do normally later admit they're bisexual (which no doubt creates the illusion of choice for obvious reasons), Cynthia Nixon being a pretty good example.

I'm not saying it "proves" anything, but Jesus Christ if it were as easy as simply saying to yourself "I'm going to like women from now on, no more craving (*)(*)(*)(*) for me!", why do people kill themselves? Why does so-called "conversion therapy" have such a spectacular fail rate (I would argue 100%) and lead to suicide, depression and self-harm? To the point Exodus International apologised and ceased all operations? What is so attractive about homosexuality to make someone want to choose a mindset that makes family members hate/disown you, "friends" ditch you and bullies want to kick the living crap out of you?? Why choose that sexuality when you can just have heterosexuality, it's all just sex, right? Why choose the difficult, undesirable, hated-by-billions-around-the-world lifestyle? I know this is anecdotal stuff to you, but think man...

Lol, sexual orientation and political persuasion are NOTHING alike. I had a major political persuasion shift the other day when I realised something. I'll let you know when I wake up one day and bang suddenly I'm straight... Hahaha.

You know what, I had the distinct feeling you had some emotional stake in this. Looks like I was right... well first of all I'm sorry you lost a loved one to that terrible disease. But, you can't be bitter towards gay people. The vast majority of us will never catch HIV/AIDS thankfully.

Actually, it is the gays, that hate being treated like everyone else. They claim they want to be treated as equals, but they really want special treatment. When they are treated like everyone else, they complain and hire lawyers. Nice try though. Just be man enough to admit that you prefer a world where everything that disagrees with you is punished. Its not illegal to feel that way. I am not sure why you are so ashamed to admit it.

Perverse means being contrary to a purpose or meaning. Humans aren't hammers, there is no demonstrable purpose to our lives. Perverse doesn't apply easily to people. He happens to believe in one morality, so things contrary to it might seem perverse to him. But it's a poor use of the word and it demonstrates a stubborn and intolerant fixation on the opinions and judgements expressed by that morality.

Normal is an easier word. Normal means average, unexceptional, ordinary. Anything that isn't statistically middle of the road isn't normal. The only folks who can aspire to be normal are those in the bottom 50% of any sample (and that's rarely good enough to earn a passing grade). Einstein, Hemingway, Picasso, Bruce Lee, Steve Jobs, Babe Ruth, Richard Feynman, Carl Sagan, Willie Mays... all were exceptional, abnormal.

Someone calls you abnormal, thank them. It means you're in good company.

Thanks! That's kind of what I thought, but was trying to get into this guys head trying to piece together his logic of the word perverse, as he was applying it to abnormal. Your explanation sounds pretty spot on to me. I'm sure our friend will have a different take than the one you pointed out for me however.

Ultimately we are all meant to mate with the opposite sex. That is the purpose for having genitals. If you are having sex with the same sex, you are perverting the purpose of your genitalia. It's that simple, doesn't matter what you think about homosexuality and it's moral implications. Homosexuality is perverted by definition. Deal with it people...

"People aren't hammers, they have no purpose".... That's a load of crap.

It doesn't help their cause in the slightest. But neither does portraying the lunatic fringe as representative of the majority of gay people help yours.

So Jesus was celibate and didn't mate with females. So was he perverting the purpose of his genitals by not using them for the purpose God intended?

And how do you know that? Who told you this? How do you know a male animal with genitals doesn't serve another purpose? In the animal kingdom all species are working towards self preservation. If animals overpopulate and the environment cannot support that population, massive die offs can occur, disease, drought, natural abortion, and even homosexual behavior are indicators of an animal population exceeding its capacity. These are all Biological control mechanisms to balance a population, and to insure the species existence. It's just nature doing what is necessary to help a species exist. Trying to depict it as perverse is total nonsense and ignorance. You should pick up some books pertaining to science and Biology
What definition? Your definition? You haven't a clue of what you are talking about.

I find it laughable that you liberals like to lump all the christian right as the lunatic fringe. You liberals seem to avoid the conversation with muslims as them being just as vehement in not accepting the homosexuals, why is that?

As I say again, I am not the least bit religious, I just want clarity and consistency, and not hypocrisy

We'll, you know, Homosexuality by definition is perverted according to him. Even though he hasn't linked that definition. That maybe the reason Jesus was celibate. Goodguy didn't post the definition for him, thereby confusing Jesus.

The man has boxed himself in with the same old tired explanation, that he is unable to back up with facts. "Homosexuality is perverted by definition" is definitely a load, because no such definition exists in the English Dictionary. That is his definition, not the Dictionaries.

if a Muslim was trying to implement their religious law in our government, we would be right there stopping them too - the only difference is you would probably be on our side then screaming something about Sharia law....

However, as you know, not everyone has the ability to, or desire to. With some people, for whatever reason, the biochemical compulsion towards the opposite sex isn't there, and for some seems to be instead towards the same-sex.

Humans are highly complex social animals... usually, the more complex the animal, the more sex you will observe takes place for social needs, beyond the mechanical procreational behaviours seen in less social species. In Bonobos same-sex activity is noted for it's place in their "society", sometimes being used to diffuse tension and encourage tribal cohesion. Dolphins also appear to have sex recreationally, like humans. It's likely that the more developed the animal brain, the more pleasurable sex is perceived as (in addition to being able to exercise more conscious control over their actions). Studies have shown that sex is also a great way to relieve stress and promote happiness, mental-well being, and provides a "boost" to the individual which increases productivity in almost all areas of their lives ... so at least in our case, there are definitely valid social purposes for sexual pleasure and intimacy other than procreation.

No more than a person who isn't using them at all, or a straight couple using contraception.

If calling gay people "perverted" is what you like to do, go for it. You won't win yourself any friends. Technically if you're a straight couple having sex with no plans to procreate, you're also perverted. But "perversion" doesn't just apply to sexual stuff. Humans weren't built to fly, so travelling in an airplane is technically "perverted" too. We can say all kinds of 'factually correct' stuff, but it's painfully clear that you are using that term because of your animus towards gays, knowing full well the negative, hurtful connotations and social implications of that word, which are much more complex than it's literal meaning.

You're smart enough to get that.

The bottom line is no one is going to stop being gay because Juan here is telling them they are perverting what they were "supposed to do". No-one, and I mean NO-ONE goes through life without doing something which deviates from "natural law", and most of us do "perverted" things on a daily basis. No one cares. Babies are still being made, the world's population is increasing exponentially, the sun still rises reliably each day... and best of all, there's no sign of the sky falling.

You must have been asleep, because they very much want their religion to reign supreme. I haven't seen christians want any more than their opinion heard, something you vehemently oppose.

Winnie Okafor went to Tawfiq Islamic Center in north Minneapolis on Friday stumping for yes votes for the proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. The Rev. Grant Stevensen was at the opposition headquarters, working with young Muslim staffers to get out the no vote.

If perversion can produce such awesome things as I mentioned then I'm proud to be a raging pervert ;) that's what you don't get. But I reject the negativity you believe applies to the term.
