President Obama will be taking some executive actions in order to bring reinforcement to American manufacturing and competitiveness to Industry.

The Departments of Energy, Defense, Agriculture, as well as NASA will be making great contributions to that effort. The Department of Labor will invest over $100 Million dollars in an apprenticeship program

    Good news indeed.
I welcome such initiative with both my hands, though I don't understand why it took them so long to start doing something profitable for our economy.
I am pretty much interested what are those ten states to get the help with the adoption of the manufacturing.

The best thing Obama can do to help the industry is to stay the (*)(*)(*)(*) away from it. Play golf till 2017 is what will help.

Yeah, lets get it up and running here, and then crony capitalism, or the oligarchy will take it to china, or some other place. Crony capitalism first took every industry they could to a communist state, and now they want the taxpayers to help em out with new industry so they can take that away as well.

I think that order was out there long before Obama took office, but his vision of what it meant, Al-Qaeda was on the run, was slightly over exaggerated.

    Thread;

Does anyone here actually believe the Executive Branch, has the Constitutional Charge to pick and choose who is given contracts, without Congressional approval or that Congress can't hold back funds for virtually anything.

Anyway 100 Million, won't even cover the required permits, much less and R&D... maybe if they move to Brazil, they would receive more as aid.

I must question why ANYONE would decide to find fault in something that can do nothing but improve the country they pretend to care about. Do people actually hate the president so much that they no longer care about the country they live in?

Another slush fund for the "progressives".

No doubt some "progressive" cronies are in need of some "stimulus" so they can squander the funds in "bonuses" and political contributions and then go bankrupt.

Probably some prog "get out the vote" groups need some extra funding since its really hard to transport all those dead people to the polls.

Since we can't count on manufacturers to do any manufacturing in this country without 10 cent/hour workers, new airports for executive jets, and free box seats for all sporting events, I'd say it's about time.

Sounds good but being that it was pretty general in what I read I would need more details and would like to know where the funding is to come from. I would add that he may be able to push the agenda through executive order but he will still need the funding approved of by Congress and by next year the Republicans will control that so it will take a lot of work to get them on board. We shall see.

Did you REALLY have to even ask that question?

First, I didn't read anything that was racist. Second, you Dems have carried that one AWAY to far. ""You disagree with what the PRESIDEND is doing?? That makes you a RACIST"""!!!

"""Obama gave the order to find and kill OBL.... """"" USING THE NETWORK HE CONDEMNED BUSH FOR SETTING UP!!!

Obama is a Marxist, pure and simple. Show me in the Constitution where the Government can go into compaction with private business??? They didn't?? Just what do you think they did when they took over GM and Chrysler Motors??? And to dictate to the banks that they would have to take government money whether they wanted to or not?
""""Oh, but we were just BAILING them out"""!!!
    Ya, right??? BULL!!!

And then dictate what we as citizens must buy or get fined for not buying??? And offer 4 different plans?? And only 2 to some people??? With a $12,700 deductible??? THAT'S your idea of a caring President???

never assume, that's the sign of an inferior mind. when you keep hammering a lie over and over again in order to demonize someone in the current political climate it certainly is racism.

Again another inferior mind making assumptions. I am not a democrat, never have been. The private business doing compaction thing is just plain drug addles to the point of meaningless. Go back to school and learn what a Marxist is, more big lie crap.

What Obama should do is get government out of the way of manufacturing. Make the USA the best place in the world to set up a factory. Make international businesses know that setting up a factory here will benefit them in every way. Imagine, businesses from all over the world flocking to the States to build their factories and run their businesses. Imagine a day when there are more jobs to fill than workers to fill them. When a worker has wage bargaining power. When we are FORCED to bring in immigrants to be able to get the all work done. Imagine that day. It could happen, but it'll take eliminating the corporate income tax, and reducing regulations, and land grants to companies, and solid guarantees of stability.

    Always the same points:
Stop taxing the Big Businesses they are our Friends
Let's get rid of those pesky regulations that keep the manufacturing plant from dumping their byproducts into our air, lakes and streams
Yes, lets take private property away from their rightful owners, after all the Business needs it, and let's not forget those National Parks they are going to need that land also.
Guarantees? Like what, ensuring that none of them can go out of business through government backing, ensuring that they are not forced to pay a living wage and provide benefits for their workers.
Yes, sounds just like what the right would consider utopia, a polluted country where businesses have more rights than the people, but then again everyone will have a job, a low paying without benefits job, but just be happy with the fact that you can work until the day they are through with you or you die.
No Thanks I will pass on that version of America.

Of course the flip side of that is what we have; jobs flooding OUT of the country, only enough full time jobs for half the workforce, more and more people on welfare, etc. So our streams are pristine, and our air is clear, but our people are starving and our economy is dieing. Where is the middle ground? I did not suggest eliminating all regulations, I said 'reduce regulation'. Government's role is to regulate to prevent monopolies, promote competition, keep the playing field level, etc.

If you want more of what we got, then continue to do what we're doing. If you want manufacturing to come back, you have to give them incentive to do so. Raising their taxes and imposing more and more regulation drives them away (as we have seen).

I would think setting aside some land for grants to new business in exchange for commitments to our workforce would benefit everyone. I would think that providing them with clean, cheap energy would be a win/win. Looks like Harry Reid's state would benefit most of all.
