While I completely agree with your first sentence, I'll be honest. I can actually understand where he's coming from on that second part. Because personally, I have a very hard time being nice to people that I know support abortion. It's like living 200 years ago and interacting civilly with slave owners. How can that not influence your perception of them?

Yup. Which was already inevitable anyway after Christopher Nolan restored it to such greatness. Anything that came next was going to pale in comparison by default. But casting Affleck to follow Bale is going to make the new Batman look like the Star Wars prequels. :puke:

I have read and reread the letter and Eiynah's (if it really is her, it is too easy to just put a name on an open letter on the Internet) solution is to call upon Muslim's to stand against the atrocities being committed in the name of Islam and for outsiders (read Westerners) to support those Muslims that do take a stand.

    Is that what you read?

Pretty much. I also read the reason why Muslims do not stand up against the oppression of Muslim women is because countries like Saudi Arabia actually promote this behavior. It is the reason why most Muslims do not stand up against Sharia Law. To suppress honest dialogue about Islam and how Muslim women are treated will only encourage this behavior to continue. I think it is pretty well known by now how Muslim women are treated as second class citizens. We should also know by now the mutilation of the clitoris that happens to young Muslim girls by their own families. The author claims Muslim women and girls would greatly benefit from a truly open dialogue. Yet many feel this topic is not open for discussion. This is not and should not be a political issue. It is one of human rights.

By denying it happens and wanting to criticize others who want an open dialogue about the abuses Muslim women incur you are defending the right of Muslim men to abuse their women.

You have me confused with someone else. I didn't post anything about any of that.

Does Islam allow Muslims to join the Masons ?

From my brief search I know the Masons accept Muslims.
But, does Islam allow Muslims to join the Mason ?

    No Masons.
    No Enlightenment
    (ref in the Historical sense)

Btw I do e-mail with a high class Turk in Istanbul and he is a Mason.
But, Turks are Muslim - lite. Pass the Turkish wine. Gay resorts too.

Here is a cause that should be championed:

    http://www.rawa.org/index.php

    Here's an overview:
    Here's the rest of it.

    http://www.rawa.org/wom-view.htm

It's kind of long, but it makes some salient points about what women face in the middle east.

It's kind of sad to see liberals so caught up in their hatred of conservatives that they can't rise above it all and address these kinds of issues.

Any decent human beings would be able to.

These are very important issues, and women should not have to face this kind of violence just because.

And to deny these kinds of things just because conservatives acknowledge them and want to address them is childish, immature, and completely asinine.

Oh, and I've been reading this website for several years now, long before I even know of this forum.

Islam allows men to have three wives. Clearly an enlightened people. Islam makes Bill Clinton unnecessary.

Failed dodge. You made a claim, a bogus one. Where are the threads complaining about all the many LGBT children's books out there?

BTW, hopefully the books that are used in elementary schools have better material than -any- content on any type of family structure. "Family relations" is not a legitimate educational topic where there are lots of real topics such as history, math, grammar, science to be taught during limited hours. I'd much rather kids learn geography, which they don't even teach any more most places, than who has what parents and what they do at home.
