Obama hands out boys' toys to girls. Progressives rejoice.

There's not one word in the article about the boys getting girl toys.

 

You don't, but as you said yourself, these are LITTLE girls, so give them the toy suitable for their gender. You can tell by watching the child's face if they're happy w/the toy or not. If a kid here isn't, then effort should be made to give them a toy they want.

 

The conservatives wanted the girls to get burkas.

 

I was reacting to Channes "Instead he went the progressive route and claimed all toys were for all genders" statement. I asked if Meta agreed with that statement and he said he did. That is where that came from.

 

Yup, I agree, just couldn't figure a better way to word it.....

I think Obama has a great sense of humor and knows how to bring out the sexists

Add that to his calling only on women reporters and we can all have a good laugh at repub/conservatives screaming about sexism ...

 

I'm stating my point one last time. Most boys are not going to be happy receiving a barbie doll for Christmas. Will there be exceptions? Of course. But most would rather have the GI Joe or whatever.

Any they want or a toy they're programed to want or a toy their sexist parents think they should have?....and why oh why does a young girl's SEX have to be pointed out...at 6 she should be treated like a CHILD not shown that since she has a sex she should only play with certain toys....

 

The problem is President Obama did it and the conservatives haven't had their daily hissy fit yet.

 

I have a very wealthy successful and family oriented cousin with two kids who would play "The Barbie Doll Queen of The Prom Game" with me when I would visit when we were kids of about 9 years old. My aunt would tease him about it, but it certainly has not had any negative affects on him, just as my nieces that love playing with toy cars and trucks will not have any negative affects on them. And all kids love Legos, which is why they make them in pink for girls that prefer that color...or boys. I love a guy with a dark complexion in a pink shirt, btw.

 

I hardly think giving toy guns and tonker trucks to boys; and Barbie dolls and e-z bake ovens to girls equates to the absurd analogy "Why, girls can't be scientists?"

 

True. But then went on to make the more generalized statement quoted above that we have beaten to death now.

I would have no problem with the kid getting the doll or whatever if that's what he actually wanted.

 

Isn't it funny. If Obama hands out presents to little kids, and the progressives rejoice. But let someone dressed as Santa hand out presents, and the progressives want to shut the place down.

This is one of those rare occasions where I don't see what the president did wrong. Girls play sports, like Legos and do get into science.

Is say those are good gifts for both sides of the fence, much more productive than some stupid fad toy a kid will put down after a couple weeks.
