To be fair and accurate, the "original Religious Right"....the Salem Puritans HANGED girls for being witches.

Like we've evolved away from them, we've also evolved away from a country founded by white male property-owners, many of whom were slave-owners, who wanted the country run by "guys like themselves."

And it's never "going back"....despite the hopes and dreams of a few demented fascists, theocrats, racists, and bigots.

.... But taxation is theft and communism. If only we didn't steal so much from the rich, they would trickle their profits onto the rest of us. God hates (*)(*)(*)(*).

You want to show me where I claimed the constitution mentions God or Jesus?

And if they are contradicting the doctrines of Jesus then by definition they're not christian.

Good, then you admit America isn't a Christian nation since the vast majority of Christians besides the Westboro Baptist Church aren't actual Christians. America is like what, 0.002% Christian?

So whether or not someone is a Christian is not determined by if they accept Jesus as their personal savior?

Jesus requirements for being a good Christian differ depending on who you talk to.

Fun fact: There is no heaven, or God, or even Jesus, so this debate is pointless.

Lol westboro is what you think real Christianity is? Coming from someone who knows less about what Jesus teaches than he does what the label on the back of his bottle of product says I'm not surprised.

    - - - Updated - - -

No. It's dependent upon their obedience to his teachings.

    - - - Updated - - -

You're more than welcome to wallow in your own ignorance but don't expect everyone else to.

Further show me one just ONE contradiction within the doctrines teachings and examples set forth by Jesus christ.

    Don't worry I'll wait.

So anyone who fails to follow the teachings of Christ is not a Christian and will therefore burn in hell even if they accept him as their savior?

Atheists exist, don't they? therefore they were created by something. Deists often call it "Providence". In any case people are "endowed" with rights by existing, according to Locke. That's why they were called "natural", they are given us by nature and are parts of our nature within larger nature. God is not necessary to their existing.

And further, rights must not be asserted by the individual themselves to exist within that individual. Are you defending that the religious may deny Christian rights to the non-religious? That is utter hypocrisy by your own admission.

And that society was created by the Slave Trade.

Are you saying that sub-Saharan Africans were more warlike and violent than the Mongols, the Vikings, and the Romans?

SSA are also the unique victims of their geography. Read Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond

Actually we didn't burn any, we hanged them.

Jefferson was technically a Deist, but respected Jesus a lot and believed he lived. He just didn't believe in the supernatural aspects of the Bible.

    Oh, you don't believe that.

In fact, I'll bet that you would make up an excuse for a supposed "Christian" deliberately, freely, and constantly violating the Scriptures....and still claim he was a "Christian".

As a Christian we are expected to repent of our sin if we commit one. But repentance doesn't simply mean saying God im sorry please forgive me. Repentance means that you turn away from your sin. If you do not turn away from the sin then you haven't really repented.

And if you haven't repented you can claim Jesus is your personal lord and savior until you turn purple but it's not going to do you any good.

    - - - Updated - - -

Don't tell me what I believe. I certainly do believe that you must follow Jesus' doctrine to be a Christian.

So America has never been a Christian nation. It has never repented for its sin of murder against the natives of the land or for the abuses against slaves it held.

America is not an individual. Therefore it cannot repent.

Its funny when people claim you are weaseling out of something when you don't give them the answers they want.

Wtf are you talking about. It's not Christian because it's obedient to the will of God. America is Christian because it was founded on christian principles.

Just like how Saudi arabia is a Muslim nation even though it does things against Islam at times. It's a Muslim nation because it's founded on Muslim principles.

She didn't give me any answer at all. Hence why I had to ask her several times and she eventually just admitted she wouldn't give me an answer.

you want to go backwards? seriously? a fan of devolution?

and comparing the society you (and other western nations) had then to the present one is frankly terrifying for anyone not utterly certain that had they lived then, they would have been a well-to-do white male. Even then, you took your chances with regard to life expectancy.

Morals being subjective simply means that not all morals are universal.

For example. Christians considered homosexuals to be an abomination. Not everyone shares that belief. And so, it is an example of a subjective moral belief.

There are many universal beliefs. Murder and rape is pretty much universally considered immoral, for example, but certain morals are not shared by all.

You claim that atheists somehow, with a god are unable to sustain single morality and their morals change with whatever they fill best helps them is based on nothing. You pulled it out of your ass and presented it as fact.

You realize that societal "evolution" is not necessarily a good thing right?

Take the Greeks for instance. Soon after their normalization of homosexuality they began normalizing the behavior of those old gay men having sex with little boys.

That is societal evolution. Do you think their society would have been better or worse by devolving away from that "advance"?

No see that's where you're wrong. Murder and rape are NOT universally considered immoral. Neither is having sex with little children.

So given that you believe morality is subjective what grounds do atheists have to deny those types of behaviors seeing as how they're just as moral as not murdering, not raping and not having sex with children.

the morality which allows rape within marriage and the keeping of slaves. awesome. let me guess, just like many christians, morality to you is the control of other peoples' genitalia. how very noble.

Jesus never condones rape of any type.

And I'll ask you the same thing I asked the other ones who ran away after.

Were the slaves better off as slaves in Africa or dead or slaves in colonial America?

And the descendants of those slaves are they better off in America or in Africa?

I don't know, we don't think about those kinds of things. It's always conservative wack jobs bringing up things like sex with animals and children, legitimizing murder, etc. Then we're forced to respond to your stupid, baseless assertions about things we don't think, nor have the desire to think about. When I see two gay people marrying, I don't all of a sudden envision myself jerking off a goat or going on a killing spree while marrying my sister. Such thoughts almost always come out of the heads of conservatives like you.

Is there something we need to know?
