'Historic' storm set to slam Northeast; airlines cancel flights
    http://edition.cnn.com/2015/01/26/us/weather-storm/

    It seems that:

If the weather is abnormally hot, it clearly is "global warming", since it is "warming" after all?

If the weather is abnormally cold, it implicitly suggests that GW is real, because GW cuases abnormal weather.

If there is any meteorological anomaly at all of any kind, it clearly is because of global warming, because... well global warming is just true.

Heck, glaciers could start covering the north again and it would be caused on AGW.

I have a rash on my butt and I'm sure it was caused either by George Bush or global warming.

I can remember years ago when a team of "scientists" went to Iceland to measure the effect of global warming on the shrinking glaciers. They discovered the glaciers were growing so they got busy and explained why glaciers growing were because of global warming.

When I was in junior high and learned that much of the U.S. and Europe were covered with glaciers a mile thick 25,000 years ago it was a warming climate that melted those glaciers. I don't feel all that bad about that although I realize it must be devastating to the global warming hysterics.

If man could control the weather, would you trust the government to do it? I wouldn't.

Let us not confuse climate with weather. Although granted that both are unpredictable. Weather changes because it always does. Climate changes because it always has.

Folks who do not understand the difference between weather and climate should not attempt to discuss climate science.

And some folks believe that man can control both.

The blizzard of 1978 was bad and we didn't think it was due to climate change.

Climate change and global warming are both real, you can go out and measure it and see.

    That is not the issue.

The issue is how much of it is because of man and that is something that cannot be scientifically shown yet.

Some folks believe that the moon is made of cheese, although I fail to see what that has to do with ignorance of climate science.

Who believes the moon is made of cheese? Using the word "Some" is a part of your science?

That's why you never offer anything useful on such subject right?

Actually I mostly agree with that.

I just love to poke fun at people who think GW is without a doubt caused by humans, and the only solution is to abandon any and all modern way of life and live like cavemen.

I do find it likely that changes in the weather world wide have something to do with Climate Change. I also however, do not feel the primary reason can be directly tied to human activities....some of it perhaps, but certainly not all. Regardless, whatever is happening is going to happen and we cannot do anything about it. There have been many powerful storms throughout human history, and there will be many more....deal with it people, like your grandparents did.

Calling it "Global Warming" in a veiled attempt to minimize and debase the concept actually makes your OP less useful by the way.

What a hoot cold and snow = global warming. If warming is true, it should be a heavy rain storm.

Well there is no doubt that humans have some effect, you can't do as much as we do on the planet without some sort of impact. However, nature can make our actions seem absolutely minor when it wants to. In the 1990's when Mt. Pinatubo erupted it lowered the global temperature for a few degrees for about 4 years. That is simply a massive change from one event that humans could not duplicate without doing something like setting off every nuclear weapon we have.

To say that humans are the cause of everything is just foolish. The problem for scientists though is that they do not yet have the ability to determine the extent that nature changes the climate or affects global warming. If they could build a basis for what would be happening on the planet if humans did not exist then they could compare that to what is happening today, do some simple arithmetic, and say that humans are causing this % of the problem.

That is not possible for scientists yet.

The best they can do is look at past records and find averages but even those averages are skewed by events like the Younger Dryas. So basically, nobody knows at this point if humans are causing 99% of the problem or .000000000001% of the problem.

Political ideology aside, this particular storm is historic because of the unusually warm water off the coast of New England. This storm is basically a winter hurricane. Look it up. Enlighten yourself.

This is Jan. If this super storm was a rain storm I might give some consideration to it. But it is a SNOW storm. Is it unreasonable to think if we had global warming the storm would be warm rain?

    Correct!

And toxicity of air and water are going to trash us, and millions of other species long before global warming. Global warming is a distraction from a much more immediate problem.

I agree that Global Warming is more of a distraction than a valid political issue, since there is very little that we could do to stop it, even if we tried. Some folks, however, do love to wallow in the pride of their own stupidity by denying objective reality. I guess that's why denial of global warming and the theory of evolution are so popular among the Luddites within our society?

I'm the one connecting the dots here.

Clearly, it's GW. No doubt about it. If it were a warm, rainstorm, clearly it's GW. It's warming after all.

How do you deny something that can use everything as evidence? Deny you can not!
