US officials: Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl to be charged with desertion

I'm definitely RW and I don't condone outright murder of him, but no way in hell should 5 top terrorists be handed over for him. That was just a stupid thing for dumbass-in-chief to do.

 

Not as stupit or dambass thing as it may seem at first, actually I think it was an opportunity for Obama to get rid of 5 Guantanamo prisoners. It was a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing political convenience. Is all there is to it.

 

The Taliban were the govt of a nation we invaded. They were POWs who would be released eventually anyway

Maybe obama could trade guns to drug Mexican drug lords for Americans in prison in Mexico.

 

Five or twenty five, what difference at this point does it make? It was an American soldier in danger, so he had to be saved at any and all costs.

How many years has it been since Benghazi... Going on third, right? Is anyone still looking for the perpetrators to bring justice and to avenge American Ambassador and four brave warriors? No, because there's no percentage in it for Obama and his bodies.

 

He's going to get his day in court. Why pretend otherwise?

 

Being held by the Taliban was justice in my opinion.

 

Taliban would be considered POWs only if

that of being commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates;
that of having a fixed distinctive sign recognisable at a distance (there are limited exceptions to this among countries who observe the 1977 Protocol I);
that of carrying arms openly;
that of conducting their operations in accordance with the laws and customs of war.

Taliban fighters regularly flout the laws and customs of war, usually attired to appear indistinguishable from the civilians they and their weapons hide among.

 

Obama traded 5 Taliban Commanders for this POS.

 

Without this trade he would not have

So I see you think that I will believe it was either the trade Obama made for Bergdahl or nothing else at all. Not exactly convincing.

 

There were better people trying to rescue him, and died. Don't you wish they lived, and he died?

 

I know I do. There's something terribly wrong when the best of our nation dies to try and spare the worst we have to offer.

 

Don't forget Bergdahl was also charged with Misbehavior Before the Enemy. That's also punishable by death.

This piece of trash didn't just desert. Lots of soldiers do that, usually they go home or to some neutral country. Bergdahl deserted to join the enemy. He wasn't a POW, being a prisoner requires you to be held against your will.

Obama gave 6 Taliban freedom in this deal.

 

This guy lived through five years of Taliban "captivity." They must have liked him.

 

From the moment I heard he traded FIVE for ONE...I knew he'd blown it!

 

Who gives a crap? The military even took him off the POW list and stopped caring about him. They knew he was a deserter POS all along.

Interesting...the POS was delisted as a POW. Fun!

 

They should have done us a favor and killed him.

If you had followed the case instead of listening to Fox or other parts of the right wing noise machine, you'd know that Obama had enough wiggle room to do what he did whether you believe it or not. Nice rant, though. Rush couldn't have done better.

Anyway, I found this when I woke up this morning:

On Wednesday, the Army announced that it was charging Sergeant Bergdahl with misbehavior before the enemy and desertion, raising the possibility that he could be imprisoned again, this time for life.

But there's a whole lot more to the story. We'll see how it turns out.

So, Obama broke the LAW, and you on the Left are just fine with that because, in your humble opinion he had "wiggle room"?

What we have here is a budding autocratic dictator masquerading as the president of a constitutional republic! He broke the War Powers Act when he stupidly launched wartime hostilities on the government of Libya, with which we were at peace. His "recess appointments", illegally undertaken to carve Congress out of the process was also against the law! This Bergdahl-swap thing was just the latest in his willful determination to grab all the power he possibly could, any way that he could, to do what he wanted -- and the Constitution be damned! It was a LAW, and, it was a LAW that Adolf Obama himself had signed into law less than a year before!

And that's fine with you on the Left? History reminds us of another enthusiastic, servile group of supporters for a "leader" of Obama's stripe -- they used to gather together and yell at the top of their lungs, "SIEG HEIL!"

 

Despite your ill-informed OPINION, he made a decision he was allowed to make under the existing law.
