It's not clear about who was arrested. Were they able to get customers or only the operators? I'm all for busting pervs but the anonymity of Tor is important.
Serious question. How do you treat someone that is attracted sexually to children? Would it not be like trying to treat someone who is gay?

 

Children cannot consent to a sexual relationship with an adult. being gay isn't an illness. But being a skeevy pedophile is.

IMO every single user of that site needs to be put on trial.

 

On the flip side I believe there needs to be a way to reliably track down child molesters and cyber-terrorists; the anonymity of the internet allows many to get away with crimes like this with impunity.

Rights end where others' begin, molesting children isn't a right just because they're "attracted to it".

 

It's not popular, but I do agree with you. I think instead of just throwing people in jail, or threatening them, we should try to help them. With things like this and drug users it would actually help society to give them the opportunity to over come it, but instead we take the option that just insures that they will continue.

 

Child molesters are not equal to drug abusers. I agree that with child molesters we should choose the option that ensures they won't continue.

 

I should hope that the FBI would be slick enough to just take over the website at first, and run it as if nothing was happening for awhile. Ve haf vays of knowing who comes to visit, where they are located, what they download; how much and how often.
Then, eradicate them with severe prejudice.

I've aid it once and I know I'll say it again on this site.

If you can't tell the difference between two consenting adults of the same gender having sex and an adult raping a child....you shouldn't be allowed around children.

 

I believe the TOR browser works as long as it is being used properly, so I suspect the website host made some kind of mistake that revealed the server's location.

That said, people who sexually abuse children should be imprisoned for life, chemically castrated, or both.

TONS of porn sites have under age children on them. You can click and view them. The instant you upload or download and share them, you become a criminal.

As a very Libertarian leaning person, things should only be criminalized based on whether they hurt other people. Otherwise the law is morally wrong.

I've never been a fan of the way children's sexuality has been addressed in society--the whole "kids can't consent" thing. It's insulting to children's intelligence, frankly.


That said, not all child porn is filled with willing participants, so figuring out a way to monitor that part of the internet would be great.
