The Republican party is a gangster party. As are all so called modern conservative parties throughout the West.

Wishful thinking from gutless (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s is the only reason they get voted in. People assume they have policies which they do not, nor do they ever state these imaginary policies.

Name for us ONE Democrat who even talks about National debt.
In fact,Harry Reid refused to even debate a budget.Let alone submit
and vote on one ... In all Obama's first term.
Conversely each of those years Reid refused to submit a senate budget,
Paul Ryan not only worked hard on a budget for approval but also
went on shows like MSNBC to explain it.
It's the democrat party who fixes NOTHING. They just break stuff
and then play the blame game.Obama and Pelosi Broke our health care system
and Obama is now trying to Break the Middle East.

Bush jr.was handed a recession by Clinton. The balancing of four straight budgets
was done entirely by The New Republicans under Newt Gingrich.
Bush jr. fixed the Clinton-inherited recession in about the same time
{ a little over a year } as did Warren Harding in 1920-21.Harding cut taxes for
everyone and also cut the size of Government spending almost in half.
Bush cut taxes for everyone who paid federal income tax.

Truly .. Double speak is the dogma of the day. The party that touts themselves of upholders of the "Constitution - individual rights and freedoms" turn around and claim that it is our patriotic duty to give up these rights and freedoms. "Patriot Act".

They are the party of Puritans who want to force their prudish ways on the masses through law.

They claim "limited Government" while bloating the bureaucracy. Since when has any Republican President decreased bureaucracy as a whole during their tenure.

They claim "free markets" while allowing Oligopolies to engage in anti-competitive practices, price fixing and making tax laws and regulations to keep the little guy from competing.

GOP is the party of double speak.

There's no doubt that republican presidents have been terrible at handling money. Reagan spent like there was no tomorrow. But you're looking at deficits, which is not what creates debt. Deficits are the difference between a budget and income. So if I say my beer budget is a hundred dollars a week, and I spend a dollar over that hundred dollars, I have a budget deficit of a dollar.

The only problem is that I never had a hundred dollars to spend on beer in the first place. I actually had five dollars. So I have spent 96 dollars more than I had, but I only went a dollar over budget.

That is why Obama has gone into debt a whole heck of a lot more than the 500 billion you refer to.

Actions speak louder than words but regardless, there are many democrats who talk about the National Debt. Bernie Sanders is one of them.

    http://www.sanders.senate.gov/top10

What has the Republican Party ever fixed in relation to the national debt ? I just handed you the numbers and you completely ignored these facts and go on some rant about health care and foreign policy.

The fact of the matter is that Republicans are the ones who ran up deficits and it is the Dem's who have reduced them.

"Obama is trying to break the middle east" ? WTF what planet have you been living on ? The Middle east has been broken for decades.

Obama's first fiscal deficit was $ 1.4 Trillion.
Bush's 2007 Budget was $ 161 Billion under Rob Portman as Budget Director.
Bush took the Debt from around $ 5 Trillion to a little over $ 10 Trillion.
The debt stands at over $ 18 Trillion. And Obama still has a year and a half left.
What part of $ 5 trillion added debt to $ 8 Trillion and counting are you not
    comprehending.

Bush Jr took a balanced budget to a 1.4 Trillion dollar deficit in 8 short years.

His administrations reckless management of the economy resulted in a massive housing bubble and financial crisis on a scale not seen since the depression.

Who cares about Harding in the 1920's ... are you for real ? What does Bush have to do with Harding. Bush did not cut government spending. Bush increased government spending.

Those republicans you mention "under Clinton" balanced the budget. What happened to those same republicans under Bush ?

"Bush Cut Taxes": Yeah, mostly to large corporations and the rich and in the process racked up huge deficits.

Sanders is virtually THE only one and he's an Independent.Sanders is
Not a Democrat. He may caucus with them but he's an Independent.
NO democrat I can recall has talked about our National Debt since Obama
took office. The only ones are wonky cabinet aides like Austan Goolsbee and
only because he appears on - Hannity - and Sean makes it a point to talk
    about our debt.
    Little Timmy Geithner left town.

The Obama Admin has failed to produce a balanced yearly Federal Budget every year since he got elected. He and the Democrats keep finding more reasons to run a yearly deficit.

They got their Bush Tax cut ended, which theoretically added 600 Billion/year revenue and the Democrat party and Obama STILL found a way to spend ANOTHER Trillion dollars'/year and CONTINUE to run a yearly budget deficit.

Time for this spend crazy, insane Democrat party and its fake image of a USA President to go. Time for some RESPONSIBLE people and party to take over and manage this mess, before the USA implodes beyond repair.

It is deficits that create debt. The 500 Billion represents the majority of the debt we will accrue for that fiscal year.

The deficit is the difference between our revenue and what we spend. If spending exceeds revenue then we have to borrow money to cover expenditures. You kind of say this but your example does not really follow your "budget and income" statement.

In the case of the 2009 Deficit of 1.4 Trillion:

Income was expected to come in at 2.7 Trillion. The Budget amount proposed by Bush was for 3.1 Trillion which would have resulted in a 400 Billion dollar deficit.

They never agreed on this budget but this was the amount that was pretty much baked into the cake for fiscal year 2009.

What happened was after the market crash of 2008 revenue dropped from 2.7 Trillion down to 2.1 Trillion .... Ouch.

Add 600 Billion to the deficit + 400 Billion baked into the cake = 1 Trillion.

Then you had TARP which added roughly another 250 Billion = 1.25 Trillion.

This is what Obama stepped into. He spend roughly another 150 Billion, the majority of which was trying to put out fires caused by the crash for a total deficit of 1.4 Trillion.

    Deficits are what case debt.

You are near clueless.Obama is the one who posted a $ 1.4 Trillion deficit.
yes, that was for one year.Sounds nutty doesn't it.
Like I stated what was even more nutty was Harry Reid failing and
refusing to submit a budget { refused to even Debate a budget } in all
    of Obama's first term.Obama's Presidential budgets { lawfully HAS to submit one }
kept arriving later and later.Obama managed to postpone them.
His Budgets { 99-0 in 2013,97-0 in 2012 } voted down by every member of
    the senate.

Yes! In Australia they privatised the energy providers. We have a government company called energex but our conservative party made all these retailers, middle men.

Lo and behold, the cost of energy doubled. It's retail 101. Double the wholesale price. And you are right, they aren't in competition with each other.

If we didn't have mass immigration and a stable population, we MIGHT be able to force them to compete with each other. Might.

Right wing capitalism is just oppression. Their crazy new conservative world view is a lie. The market has needed to be regulated ever since we moved past the hunter gatherer stage. Heck, even then the chief would have had to mediate.

The new conservatives are in total alliance with the far left. They are having a field day with anyone who is decent, honerable, good and truthful.

    Complicators belong in prison.

No actually ... the clueless are those who think the 2009 Budget deficit was Obama's fault.

The fiscal year 2009 starts in October 2008 and goes to the end of September 2009.

Obama was not even in office when most of the money was spent.

The Bush 2009 Budget proposal was for 3.1 Trillion. Revenue was estimated at 2.7 Trillion and the deficit then was estimated to be 400 Billion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_United_States_federal_budget

This Budget was never adopted but this amount was baked into the cake. 400 Billion deficit.

What happened was after the "Bush Crash" revenues fell from 2.7 Trillion to 2.1 Trillion Add 600 Billion = 1 Trillion deficit

TARP enacted under Bush represented roughly another 250 Billion = 1.25 Trillion.

The most you can pin on Obama for fiscal 2009 is about 150 billion but most of this money was spent on trying to stabilize the financial system due to the crash of the housing market and near collapse of the financial system so that you can not really blame on Obama either.

This would be like blaming a fire fighter for using too much water.

Bush (regardless of who or what was to blame) handed Obama a 1.4 Trillion dollar deficit.

Which is precisely why during Clintons middle term the National debt never
    got raised because Newt's New Republican Majority { first in 40 years }
Balanced 4 straight budgets.Obama is such a shylock he tried as excuse to
explain how his Budgets as a percent are dropping at historic level.
Of course ... as a percentage Drop. You ring up a huge deficit one
year and drop it substantially the next there's gonna be a big difference in
percentage drop. But don't let that confuse one into thinking Obama's deficts
aren't massive and the biggest in our history. They are massive.
What else explains $ 8 trillion added debt since Obama took office.
Obama racked up THE Biggest Deficits in our History. They're still huge.
Obama has presided over 5 of 6 of the largest budget deficits in history.
Bush did have $ 459 Billion deficit for 2008 but the prior year was $ 161 Billion.
Obama still has larger deficits than Bush's biggest.

    2009 or $ 1.4 Trillion is a shared fiscal accounting.Obama presided over 2/3 rds
    to Bush's 1/3rd.

There has been no balanced annual Federal Budget, since Obama became President. Only continuing resolutions and continual debt ceiling lifted. Its like a spendaholic with credit card asking for more credit when he has not even managed to make the minimum monthly payment.

In 2010, a wave of Republican newly elected representatives, the Tea Party, (Taxed Enough Already), representatives had a balanced budget ready to be signed by the President. Obama refused and then shut down the government, which included VETERANS MEMORIALS.

Try to blame it on Republicans all you want, its not going to fool the electorate this time around.

Funny thing to say given that the only president to balance the budget in a generation was a Democrat.

If we collect the same revenues as a percent of GDP as in 2000, the deficit would virtually disappear.

    - - - Updated - - -

Funny thing to say, given that spending has actually decreased over the past five years, a first since WWII if not before.

    - - - Updated - - -

The deficit was already running at $1.2 trillion when Obama took office.

The deficit was already falling dramatically before the Republicans took control of Congress in 1995.

We saw their true nature when Bush was elected, and Clinton's surplus budget was quickly squandered. It was a real tragerdy.

Just like a Democrat to take credit for what Republicans made possible.
FOUR Straight Balanced budgets was the imminent result of a New

That GOP austerity is working out just like planned, eh?

    - - - Updated - - -

The deficit was already heading towards a surplus before the Republicans took Congress. Clinton held off their big tax cuts with his veto.

We saw what the Republicans made possible when they got one of their own in the WH. The golden opportunity of a surplus budget sqandered for tax cuts that mostly benefitted the richest, and massive military spending vaporized the surplus and returned us to new record deficits within a couple.

You can spin, but you can't re-write fact.

You'll know when I spin.I make it funny. There is nothing funny in the least
about this Obama economy. The weakest " supposed " recovery and most sustained
recession in history.Obama actually thinks he can talk his way around fixing

In the USA both Red and Blue serve the oligopolies.

Extreme Capitalism and Extreme Socialism end up at the same nasty place with a few elite owning all resources and means of production ... living fat while the raging masses are forced into a form of indentured servitude.

The USA has managed to combine the worst of both extremes by fusing the oligopoly into the bureaucracy. This horrid beast has many heads.

The Military Oligopoly is one of the biggest gobbling up over 1 Trillion dollars per year. Retired Generals appear on news networks touting war while at the same time are in the pocket of defense contractors. That these talking heads have a clear conflict of interest is of course not mentioned which violates the idea of editorial integrity.

Healthcare is another head. There is a reason why the US pays more for healthcare than any other first world country but is the only one that does not have universal healthcare. Its called "price fixing" and anti competitive practise.

The beast is not some cabal though. It is the natural outcropping of selfish greed.

Congress is allowed to insider trade (illegal to everyone else). They can sit on a committee, or know a buddy that does, allocating contracts to ABC company and then invest in ABC company before the news hits the streets. Its al license to print money for the investment savvy.

I want in on that Game !

Sure from time to time there is a voice on capital hill saying "perhaps this is a bad idea" but this voice is quickly drowned out by the cacophony on the take. This maintains the "necessary illusion" of free speech while maintaining the status quo.

The Beast works on the basis that most are going to act according to their own self interest.

Every time some regulation or tax law is made the Oligopolies are sitting at the table and they have a right to be there. The problem is that the politician that is supposed to be representing the interests of the people is more often than not supporting the interests of the oligopolies who put him in power.

Over time, table after table, the interests of the Oligopolies prevail.

They manage to funnel money to their rich shareholders by avoiding taxes which downloads the tax burden onto the worker.
In the 1950's the tax burden split was roughly 50/50. These days we are lucky if the Corporations are paying 15% of their share which means the worker has to pick up 85% of the tax bill. This is one way indentured slavery is imposed.

Why these Republicans rush to support policies which force them to pay McDonalds share of the taxes is a function of ignorance more than anything else.

Don't raise the minimum slave wage because it is better that money goes into the pocket of some nameless faceless shareholder who may not even living in the country never mind spending that money in the local economy.

Of course almost every penny of a min wage increase is going to be spent "directly" and immediately in the local economy.

Merging of corporations into larger and larger entities stifles wage competition. I worked in sectors where there was really only two choices and so there was no real choice. I was in sales which normally the salesperson is rewarded for increasing sales. It was disturbing how they were able to pinch every penny out of the salesperson. You make the company more money and they would give you squat.

This is much harder, if not almost impossible on a realistic basis, to do when free and fair labor competition exists.

How many small towns now have a Walmart. Used to be there were 5 or six shops supplying various goods. Walmart comes in, sells goods below cost until those shops are driven out of business, and then raises prices. This is an illegal practice but ... Oligopolies get their way.

Those shops are closed and the income generated by the owners is gone. Again that income would have been spent in the local economy.

Instead we have a Walmart and none of the profits get put back into the local economy.

As the slice of the total pie that the rich control increases, the slice that he rest of us slaves have to subsist on decreases.

This of can only happen for so long before something snaps and civil unrest increases. The beast is preparing for this war by increasing police powers and decreasing individual rights and freedoms.

Popcorn theory 101 - When you make popcorn you add oil and seeds to the pot and turn on the heat. You can look into the pot and see the oil sizzling but you can not tell me which seed will pop first !

What you can say is that at some point one of those seeds will pop. If you keep the heat on eventually lid will come off the pot !
