This ^^ is not proof that "the Europeans ASKED for these workers, to do work they couldn't be bothered with."

    I am European. I didn't ask.

I see. So now you change it from "the Europeans ASKED for these workers, to do work they couldn't be bothered with to "The Government".

You have the last word. This goal post shifting is boring me. :bored:

Don't you worry about Europa and our ever growing grasp on the facts.

She is speaking about who is behind this 'transformation'. It's relevant. Why are you so worried? PS. She makes no mention of Israel.

I've been thinking that it's some kind of agenda by someone(?) to destroy European cultures. Don't ask me why though!

Others would say she tried to help desperate people in need. The fact is that most of the Middle East neighbours already have millions of refugees to support and unless Europe and the west helps take some of these people we risk a domino effect spreading to states that until now have remained stable thus creating even more failed states, civil wars and ultimately more refugees.

Given that the Bush administration is directly at fault for the mess in the Middle East it would be nice to see the USA take in a couple of hundred thousand refugees.

That reminds me. Bush thought he was doing good by removing Saddam because of daddy issues and oil. And now you have the nerve to criticize Merkel for actually doing something humane and good. The world is bizarre.

[IMG] For every 10 refugees, there are two hundred economic migrants. You obviously don't know the difference any more than Merkel. I'd bet that you wouldn't be quite so sanctimonious if one of them took over your job? Merkel has screwed up big-time.

Really? And where did you get those numbers?
The official statistics can be seen here http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Asylum_quarterly_report
As you can see and as any honest person would know there is a rigorous identification process behind every application and anyone who does not meet the requirements are refused and sent back. But what good are facts and truth when you have an agenda?

When are you going to stop ignoring the other half of my posts by the way? USA has a responsibility for the mess they created and should be taking at least a few hundred thousand refugees. But maybe you are so blinded by partisanship that you automatically exclude information you can't handle:roll:

Taking them in is one option, and a poor one.

Supporting them with temporary shelter, food, medicine and such closer to Syria is the better option.

Do you honestly think these people are going to leave?

    Europe is screwed.

So we let people die and suffer on the other side of our border? Excellent solution. And one that as I explained previously will put even more pressure on the Arab states that already have millions of refugees. Which in turn risks turning into more chaos and more failed states and even more refugees.

Europe is not even close to being screwed by this. Actually... For many it is a blessing in disguise as European populations are dwindling at a terrifying rate. Much worse than whatever you think a couple of million refugees is going to do in a union of 500 million.

Will they go home? Personally I imagine most of them would return given the chance and their homes stabilised again. Some would stay. But as mentioned earlier we need more people to maintain the welfare systems we have and to have stable populations.

Why are so many people of forums, racist, xenophobic and afraid of everything?

When Sicilians and southern Italians immigrated to north of Italy after WWII it was the same bull(*)(*)(*)(*). And we are talking of people of the same country. When Italians and Turks immigrated to Germany in the 70's it was the same. People should inform themselves better.

Not to mention that all this doom people see in Europe's future really shows a lack of historic context. What about when the turks were at the gates at Vienna? When they reached Poitier and had all of Iberia and southern Italy?

What about a bit more recent history? The 60's and 70's where huge numbers of Europeans identified as Communists and wanted to open the gates to the Russians? All the while terrorists killed and maimed at a rate Muslims haven't even been close to? Hitting prime ministers, politicians, presidents and ordinary people. You guys would have died of heart attacks if you had lived back then.
