Some admissions are now starting to emerge as Blair is awaiting damnation from the Chilcott report. It is very evident that the Iraq war created ISIS in conjunction with the Sunni Wahhabi movement in Saudi Arabia and finance and arms from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states.

Let us hop that Syria does not become another Libya-like failed state.

Whatever his opinion is/was it's too late now. The genie is out of the bottle. No use playing "What if Hitler died in 1939?" mind games. We are where we are. The solution to the entire Middle East problem is simple: we need a new, cheap & replenishable energy source as without income for oil the Muslims will revert back to Bedouins, ergo no $$ to fund terrorism.

    That was always the solution.

At least Tony Blair is honest. ISIS is America's "Frankenstein."

It's funny though with that "genie out of the bottle", it still hasn't stopped cons from playing the blame Obama game even though none of these would have come about if Iraq wasn't invaded and the Saddam's guard completely put out of work.

Honest? An honest man would have refused the job of Middle East Peace Envoy after participating in the worst foreign policy screw up in living memory. The irony is staggering.

Nice of him to be man enough to admit it...

Too bad our republican friends aren't that honest or man enough..

The r3eal problem with that is that the lesson to be learned is lost. Republican policy of militarism in the middle east has failed and created more terrorists. The FACT is that IRAQ HAD NO ISLAMIC TERRORISTS before we invaded. Not it is the center of terrorism in the world.. That is the consequences of the Bush/Republican policies on fighting terrorism. Now we have a bunch of right wingers who look at this, can't admit it was a mistake, and want to try more of those failed militaristic policies.

What's even stranger is that their front runner candidate, Donald Trump has said so repeatedly, and they don't hold it against him at all.

ISIS began in Syria. It seems possible to me that Tony Blair is pretending to be penitent when in reality he's pushing a new line of argument, which is to help more recent politicians avoid responsibility for the seemingly pointless chaos in Syria and Libya.

ISIS began in Iraq as backlash to the Maliki government.

Operation Mass Appeal was about selling the Iraq war to the Brits and it was exposed in 2003.. Blair denied it then.

Their original leader came from an Iraqi prison but their organization, territorial gains and manpower originated in Syria first and then spread to Iraq after.
