The European Union on Monday launched a new law enforcement center to coordinate the fight against violent extremism, saying Europe faces the most significant terrorist threat in over 10 years.

There is every reason to expect that IS (the Islamic State organization), IS-inspired terrorists or another religiously inspired terrorist group will undertake a terrorist attack somewhere in Europe again, but particularly in France, intended to cause mass casualties among the civilian population," Europol, the EU-wide agency for law enforcement cooperation, said in a report. "This is in addition to the threat of lone-actor attacks, which has not diminished."

The report coincided with the official opening of the European Counter Terrorism Center. Europol director Rob Wainwright said his organization's new unit in The Hague, Netherlands will be staffed by 40-50 experts in counterterrorism and deal in intelligence-sharing, tracking foreign fighters and sources of illegal financing and firearms, and assisting EU countries in counterterrorism investigations.

They should ask for the cooperation of their citizens. Ask the citizens to remain on alert and take notes/pictures/videos of anyone/anything suspicious. Try to get down as much information as possible.

I agree Citizens should be checking out any Arab Muslims. Engage them. Talk with them. Feel them out. Then give them that mental check about.....should they come down with or catch Jihadi Syndrome. That the infection won't spread. Like giving them a guarantee.

That too is one way to combat terrorism. It however will never be the only way. The unfortunate part is that some terrorists are citizens...

Yeah that's a good idea, lets get back to the handshake and see eye to eye with them.

Well I don't know about a handshake.....but if they start speaking Arabic. Then let them know that they want to talk in a way that lets others know what they are talking about. As we wouldn't want to take what they say the wrong way. As then we might think they are infected with Jihadi Syndrome.

Which will not be good for them.

They are going to need more than 50 people, and definitely some numbers on the ground.

    Well Yay!!!

It's about time Europe got serious about terrorism.

They get a star for effort. ✰

Now all we have to see is whether they can do this right or if it's just an empty agency with no other purpose than to give a few people a desk job.

If it fails perhaps the EU should consider a partnership with USA intelligence agencies. Perhaps hand over all the functions over to us. We might be the only ones who can do it right.

They already should have partnered up the USA and EU intelligence agencies. They should create a task force to watch people on their terrorism list. What good is a data base of these offenders if no one is there to enforce the rules. They should definitely create a task force suited for the job.
