Are you sure you were an LEO? I really hope you made that up. Gangsters don't walk into gun shows, they buy them from street contacts they trust. If it is such a problem, why does BATFE report that only about 4% of guns used in crimes came from legal private sales? You know what would stop gun violence? Serious penalties and hard prison time. No more 1 or 2 year sentences. Start putting them in prison for 10+ years and that will have a very real affect on crime. No law being passed is going to make a dent in crime when there is no penalty for committing such crimes.
I can't keep going over it with you. Mandatory training and registration would make guns more easily traced, reduce sales to criminals and help prevent accidents and suicide thru identification of people who should not own guns
No I'm not. Criminal A steals a gun, files off SN, sells it to criminal B. How are you going to stop that? Criminal A sends cousin in to buy gun for him, cousin tosses his own place and reports gun stolen. Criminal A trades the gun to criminal B,C,D, and E. Criminal E uses it in a crime. How do you trace it back to criminal D? How do you prove the cousin made a straw purchase? The only thing you can do is make the penalties for violent crime and illegal firearm possession harsh. It worked in Richmond under Project Exile, and it's the only methodology that will work.
Keep posting, it's entertaining watching someone so vociferously defend their ignorance and inanity...
No law is perfect. Traffic laws do not stop traffic deaths.....it just reduces them - - - Updated - - - Since you have no argument I accept your concession
None needed. You were already told a dozen times why what you propose is inane. I posted an arguement to that effect which you ignored. Keep posting, it is entertaining...
Do drunk driving laws prevent people from doing so? What stops people from breaking a law is the associated penalty. Do you think drunk driving laws would be effective if the punishment was only a $10 fine?
I suggest not buying a gun if you are worried you may commit suicide with it in that spur of the moment sort of thing. I also suggest not buying rope, belts, blankets or any other material that you could hang yourself with. I also suggest not keeping drano, sleeping pills, bleach, ammonia or any other substance that you could ingest that may cause death. I also suggest the immediate removal of all trains and automobiles, that way those spur of the moment suiciders will have less of a chance to throw themselves in front of something. I also suggest an immediate removal of all depressing movies. Depressing movies could push someone who is on the edge to go drink bleach that shouldnt be there. I agree with you....remove anything that could make suicide easier from everyone else.....jesincase.
And so, most people who die from gunshot in the US have themselves to blame. How does this translate into a sound argument for further limitations on rights of the law abiding?
More guns have not proved to be the cause of more gun violence and you know it. Guns sales have sky rocketed while gun violence has continued on a downward trajectory. No one can make the argument that more guns cause more gun violence.
Japan, Belgium, France, Russia all have higher suicide rates that the US but virtually no gun ownership. Point debunked. Next question.
Ayuh,..... I've been seein' more, 'n more suicides happenin' rather shortly after the deceased finds out they're terminally ill,.... The foolish use a gun, 'n burden their survivors,... The wiser go on one last bender with drugs, 'n alcohol,... accidental death, insurance pays,... As for this thread topic, as noted before, the victims of suicide have only themselves to blame, Not me,.... No reason what so ever to infringe on my rights,...
There is very little evidence to prove that even veteran police officers are qualified to carry a weapon.
Too bad that's not what happens and the FBI notes it. There are millions of stolen guns on the black market, how about worrying about clearing those up before trying to make new laws? Of course.... that would make sense......
LOL really? You know nothing about criminals... this is more obvious than ever with this comment. NO, criminals don't like to give up friends. Your solution is based on thinking a CRIMINAL is going to be honest and work with authorities. That's laughable.
It would weed out a lot of people that wouldn't have mattered anyway.... sure. You still seem to think no matter what FACTS anyone gives you that killings and crime are done by a majority of law abiding citizens. This is the first thing you need to get out of your head. The majority of killings and crime were done by repeat offenders, not the people you want trained. Besides, all training would do is make the killer better at killing.... Um... till their stolen like the majority of firearms that end up in criminals hands are. So... this doesn't work. < This should be obvious. - - - Updated - - - Only 8124 are from murders. The rest are irrelevant since it was their own decision.
