Men have more interest in the sport in general.. Womens ratings are going up.

Both statements dont counter each other nice try.

Note the absence of facts. Just opinion.

Your statement was "Men bring more money to the sport so they are payed more" and now it is "Men have more interest in the sport in general".

    You are changing your point.

As I have posted, the tournament winnings at the 4 Majors are equal for men and women.

At Indian Wells, not included in the official Major tournament classification, the prize money is also equal for men and women.

It's possible I've blamed Title IX for something that has more to do with NCAA scholarship limits. Either way, the case I presented on my school is common across the US.

I believe pay equality should extend to the porn sector, for males.

Yeah, this is why trying to go pro in tennis sucks compared to team sports. I have a few friends who tried or are still trying and it looks like a grind that brings in nothing but debt. But I guess they will be paid well as coaches in the future.

I can imagine because each match requires several employees. And for winning those tournaments you don't get much money.

Yeah but those aren't presenting much of a complex issue.

He probably feels underpaid relative to stars in other sports. And he may think that if 2 different US Opens were held, one for each gender, the men's side would be bringing in more money.

I didn't find that, just something about how women asked for it and were turned down. Anyway, it seems like the WTA should do it if the athletes have been asking for it.

It's a privately-owned enterprise. They can probably do whatever they like, within the limits of the law. If what women are being paid offends you, you are free not to buy a ticket or to turn off the TV.

Personally, I would pay Sharapova an extra million to stop the Kiai shouts - she is not Bruce Lee.

It is clear you do not know much about the pro tennis world. That is okay.

The reason for the thread were the comments made by the former tournament director at Indian Wells. A tournament were equal prize money is awarded to both men and women. Djokovic jumped in and made comments, again, on this issue and he is trying very hard to walk them back.

Pay in competitive sports is limited by the take at the ticket office and other revenue. Male tennis (and golf, football etc) draws larger and higher paying crowds and endorsement deals. Female professional (European) football wouldn't exist if players had to be paid the same as their male counterparts. Same case with US basketball.

Where talent is concerned you can't always level the pay. One imbalance that comes to mind that benefits women is modeling. Female models make substantially more than their male counterparts.

True but remember that women have been impacted as well with the tremendous drop in womens college gymnastics. Further, in their haste to develop winning teams many schools hired male coaches in place of female coaches such as in basketball. Title IX is good law - it just needs to be applied equitably for everyone's benefit.
