No, but I can only imagine, coming from Monty Python. As for fetal rights, one who looks at things in an intelligent sphere, as you obviously have already done, you addressed the dilemma of not being perfect. However, their is a perfection that comes from this. And that is the very real fact that the fetus does not have, or should have rights. As mentioned before, the fetus doesn't own your body. You do. Therefore, your guilt is not necessary, and down deep in your gut you know that. Your reasons for an abortion can be many. Your health, the babies health, you yourself are not ready, or old enough for a child, rape, incest, etc. Remember, as you say humans are not perfect, neither are your friends. Nature is the most powerful force in the universe, beside love, in my opinion. And sometimes, it tells us what we must do at the time, and not necessarily what we want to do. It's unfortunate that many humans do not see that, and lay guilt upon themselves instead. As for you, I sense that you see more than some of your friends. And for you, I think that is a good thing. Have a great day, and never second guess what you and your body must do for each other.

I am a full time student who takes out Stafford Loans to cover what Pell and Zell Miller don't.
Psych classes are prereqs I took a long time ago.
I can't wait to start getting paid when I get a "real" job... I loved staying at home with my kids and being there for everything...wouldn't trade it for the world...but I'm excited about my new venture!

    GeorgiaAmy,
I think it is great that you are going to school now and trying to improve yourself, intellectually by being a nurse, financially, and emotionally. However, I do worry now because you have provided some personal information that may be used against you, well, some of it already has, because of insecurities by certain posters. The question you asked in the OP is a question that has been asked politically, ethically, spiritually, etc.

I wonder who is paying you to post your drivel?

    You're thoughtful and sweet.
I am 39. Immature behavior from youth certainly doesn't hurt my feelings.

    Even YOU used future tense.

And, you did it in a thread where that is the WHOLE POINT!

"""I am a person who likes the color blue and long walks on the beach, my sign is Virgo, I love puppies and kittens, and write books for a living, I don't love my 15 kids, and would trade them in a minute, my...blah , blah blah.."""""

...I can only hope since you can't answer questions is to bore you as much as you bored me with an equally fictitious, equally unasked for, off topic account of my life...

The Supreme Court has said that death is the absence of brainwaves.

Conversely then, life must be the presence of brainwaves.

The right to life begins when the fetus becomes a sentient being, as evidenced by the presence of brainwaves in the cerebral cortex.

I can't imagine how miserable you will be as you age based on your cynicism in youth.

You can reference science but the topic is so emotionally charged approaching it from a logical/scientific angle just doesn't resonate.
The emotional component is huge in this topic and elsewhere.
People who oppose abortion because the are prolife demonizing harvesting the organs and tissue that could save lives. Is that inconsistent? Logical? We can donate blood to the red cross but we can't bank our own.
A female can sell her eggs, but not her unwanted baby to the highest bidder. Galileo is locked away for his sun centered scientific model of the universe because it may disturb the faithful.
We don't always make sense. There is much more to us than logic. But how easy is it to recognize...when we are being ruled by head or heart?

Another off topic reply and still can't answer simple questions.

I have no idea how you got "cynicism" out of what I wrote.....it's stupid to believe personal stories one finds on the internet.....you call it cynicism, I call it smart....

Being smart, and not gullible, has never made me miserable......it fends off misery...

Please don't respond if all you have is more of your off topic autobiography.......my preference in fiction is murder mysteries....

There are plenty of already born people in the world who can't survive on their own. Are they not alive?

There's social dependency (born people) and biological dependency (the fetus).....they're all alive...

In the active sense, morality is doing the right thing in the face of temptation. If you're looking for a rule set, the closest anybody can get to that is the two Great Commandments (Matthew 22:37&39).

And you find that compelling in the present context because...?

If you don't find it compelling......you think brain dead patients should be kept alive forever?

Still no difference. The argument is bogus.

You better try to find a reason for your concern that the argument might be bogus.

It seems perfectly rational to me to consider viability as an important point in fetal development.

The GOP direction of declaring the woman's life as irrelevant is what is totally bogus if anything is.

The guardian of a born child is responsible for its life. The mother is this guardian before birth. Someone has to care for an innocent dependent human. Not respecting this life is immoral.

Yes, the morality argument. I do respect your opinion on that, but I don't accept the notion that your opinion should be imposed on all women. It's far from being justifiable as an absolute. It ignores rape, incest, disease/disability (both as seen in the woman and in the fetus), etc., let alone the valid differences in opinion on morality of early termination.

Trying to derive your idea from responsibility for a child is too much of a stretch, as the health and well being of the mother becomes a separable issue after birth, but is not a separate issue before birth. The GOP has attempted to deny this with abortion law that made the mother's very life irrelevant. That, too, is just not acceptable.
