It's so weird that there's no willingness to answer my questions regarding this well thought out and logical outrage surrounding gender justice.

Who knew that it would be difficult to resolve the dissonance created by demanding segregation for the purpose of inclusivity & equality?

On the one hand, individuals want to be recognized & celebrated for their unique individual traits. On the other, they want to blend in with the rest of the herd. These two ideals are exclusive of each other.

I think the problem here is that the paradox doesn't have an answer. The moebus strip argument that women and men should be fine in bathrooms together in support of an attempt to allow transgender women to segregate themselves into women only bathrooms is profoundly illogical. If cisgendered people have no right to be segregated by biological sex, then neither do transgender people. Free from that right, there can be no battle over who goes where no matter what someone's feelings are.

Laws that say they don't have any rights...like the ones recently being passed to make religious nuts feel good about being homophobes.

And they were heterosexual guys not transgirls. Gay boys who are attracted to guys have been using the boys locker room always. Why are you OK with that?

Former Republican House Speaker Dennis Hastert is a homo who spent his career as a phys ed teacher and wrestling coach molesting and ogling boys. Of course he should have been castrated but is he was coaching girls he probably would not have molested them.

It sounds to me like you are ok with boys who are attracted to boys using the boys locker room. Then you would be comfortable with a male checking you out because that has been going on since we had locker rooms. Are you bisexual or something?

There is something called commonsense and something called semantics and theory. A transgirl would be more comfortable using the girls locker room or woman's restroom and cis girls would be more comfortable if a transboy used the boys locker room.

Boys and men would not be uncomfortable it a girl or woman was in their locker room it happens all the time with female reporters. Cis male reporters should not be going into women's locker rooms. It's COMMONSENSE!

Some corporations like Target are good corporate citizens. This would not work at Walmart though. Target has a much classier, smarter and better smelling customer base.

All the laws NC and other wise states say is that men are men and need to be with men and females are females and need to be with females.

There is no such thing as a "trans -" A male is a male, a female is a female. This whole conversation and attempt by a few thousand mentally challenged individuals who claim to feel they are a sex other than the one they are is stupid. Trannies need mental help, not new bathrooms.

    - - - Updated - - -

Yeah, so we can forget all about that "rape culture" nonsense on college campii, right? Its OK for men to wiggle their willies in front of naked little girls, right? Obama said so. Call off the SJWs

No, all the Trannie rights group is doing is making it legally permissible to a pervert to use the "I am a tranny" defense when caught waving his willie in the girls shower.

The trannie rights people are telling us that we probably had peed next to one of these mental cases before and never knew it. Then why did they feel the need to change the law to force normal people into accepting them in the first place. The laws or regs passed to guarantee tranny rights is what resulted in the backlash to protect normal people from perverts.

The interesting thing here is, just who is going to check and confirm gender of these people? If a woman dressed as a man walks in to the men's room and uses a stall who's going to know unless they are physically checked; likewise a man dressed as a woman walks into the women's room and use's a stall, who's going to know either way? Most people are getting all worked up over nothing in my opinion.

There's also something called justice and something called law. In order for be an equality in their application, both somethings require semantics and what you call theory (I would call reason), not common sense and subjective opinion.

Thank God for the enlightenment and the principle of due process. We do not afford the government power over our individual lives in order to protect the common sense. We do it to protect individual liberty. So we'll go back to my original question.

Why are gender segregated bathrooms necessary? Woolley seems to think they are not necessary for cisgender folk, while simultaneously believing in a need for gender specific ones for the non cisgender crowd. Does that seem like equal application of the law to you?

Oh brother...look up the reason why NC passed this idiotic law into being, it was solely against the actions of Charlotte, NC whose only aim was to make sure discrimination was illegal in that town. As soon as they passed it, the religious homophobes got into gear to make sure they could discriminate at will because of Jesus. Give me a break.

Is there a reason you refuse to resolve the dissonance between your dismissal for the need for gender specific bathrooms while simultaneously demanding the right to segregate into them?

Is there a reason you are focusing on a non-existent problem that just so happens to allow you cover for your homophobia under the disguise of worrying about bathroom pedophilia?

That's what I said. The NC state law was aimed at protecting normal people from the predations of perverts and the intrusion into the privacy of normal women and men by mentally defective individuals who fantasize themselves to be something they are not after the idiots in Charlotte tried to give legal cover to the perverts and crazy men who imagine themselves to be women. Charlotte tried to force perverts onto normal people. The state protects the vast, vast, vast majority of its citizens from crazy people.

Nothing to do with religion. Nobody at the state said this was in the name of Jesus - that's a typical non-sequitur argument used by those trying to push trannies on normal people. This is normal human beings protected by their government from aberrant behavior and sick individuals.

I haven't said a word about pedophilia, nor homosexuals. Are you projecting?

I simply want you to resolve the problem you have with your argument.

Is there a reason bathrooms should be segregated, or is there no reason bathrooms should be segregated?

One of the many problems with HB2 is that it did a lot more than just revoke local ordinances concerning bathrooms. It essentially took away various labor rights and the autonomy of local governments.

Local areas can't set minimum wages in NC now. The law makes it considerably harder for people to pursue discrimination lawsuits, especially if they are gay or transgender. In effect, you can fire someone just because they are gay or transgender in NC now.

So, if anything, the law is a tool for bigots.

Most telling, however, is the fact that it completely goes against the idea of decentralized authority -- the thing that "small government" advocates always talk about.

In truth, a lot of Republicans are more than willing to act as tyrants when running states. They only want small federal government, not necessarily small state government.

There is no problem with segregated bathrooms, they have worked fairly well for a long time. So why is it that all of a sudden, bathrooms became the central sexual fantasy of homophobes? If you listen to their arguments in favor of this absurd law, it boils down to fear of knowing that a trannie wearing a dress might go into the womans toilet and take a dump next to their sweet little darling in the other stall. Of course, trannies have been taking leaks and dumps in women's bathrooms for eons but now all of a sudden, their protected status from homophobes who want to do a penis check is sacrilege to those wonderful religious nuts who brought us so many hilarious moments. You think you are clever, but clever rhetorical tricks cannot mask the intent here. It is a backlash against progress and acceptance of gays, lesbians and trans-sexual people. All the rest is pure hogwash.

You're welcome to answer the same question. Is there a legitimate reason for gender segregated bathrooms?

If there is your argument re: big government tyranny fades away.

If someone truly believes that they are not of the gender they were physically born with, let them go to a credible expert for evaluation and proof that such is the case. Once their physical malady has been extensively documented and proven, then they may use the facilities with which they identify. Simply claiming gender identity should not be enough under any standard.

Well pal I wasn't attempting to play then Islamic card, your slice of life vignette reminded me of the Der Spiegel article I'd read a few days ago. Its focus was on combating sexual abuse of women and children in German refugee quarters. One of the solutions considered necessary by the officials involved, separate restroom and bathing facilities. I thought it both on point with the thread and connected in a congenial way to your live story. It's the way civil conversations evolve and flow.

    Cheers

You still haven't answered the question. My problem certainly isn't with the bathrooms. It's with your argument. I want you to use your rational mind to find that problem. To do that you need to define for yourself the reason bathrooms are segregated. You said that "they have worked fairly well" What have they worked well to do?

Your problem is that you're trying to equate the use of them to a right that is being denied to a specific group of people as you simultaneously tear down that same right as a system of fear, wacky religion, and unenlightened Americanism. It's not a very well thought out argument if you ask me.

You were doing so great when you identified the problem with letting men in dresses going into the women's bathroom, and then you jumped the tracks by thinking this has anything to do with gays, lesbians, and other assorted confused individuals.

In logic, this is called a non-sequitur.
