In case you missed it, Louisiana is underwater and currently experiencing the worst natural disaster since Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Before Sandy, the worst natural disaster was Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Thirteen people in Louisiana are dead, thousands are displaced and nearly 90,000 people have registered for federal disaster aid. From the Red Cross:

The devastating flooding in Louisiana has forced thousands of people from their homes with just the few things they could take with them. The American Red Cross is there, providing food, shelter and relief supplies to those affected by the largest natural disaster to hit the United States since Superstorm Sandy. Early estimates predict the relief effort could cost at least $30 million, a number which could grow as more is learned about the scope and magnitude of the devastation.

Despite these facts, mainstream media oxygen for days has been soaked up by lying swimmers, the Olympics and the ongoing presidential race.

Who else is paying little attention to the flooding in Louisiana? President Obama. Where is he? On a golf course in Martha's Vineyard as the state drowns in destruction, damage and devastation.

In 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit, President George W. Bush was accused of "not caring about black people" because he failed to visit New Orleans. He avoided a visit in an effort to prevent distraction from relief efforts. When he did a flyover of the area after leaving vacation early, he was roundly criticized for being out of touch. President Obama? He gets a free pass.

    Over to The Advocate: [http://www.theadvocate.com/baton_ro...le_f1ce22ee-64b4-11e6-b11a-a393ff25161d.html]

Sometimes, presidential visits can get in the way of emergency response, doing more harm than good. But we don’t see that as a factor now that flood waters are subsiding, even if at an agonizing pace. It’s past time for the president to pay a personal visit, showing his solidarity with suffering Americans.

Like his predecessors, Obama has no doubt discovered that crises keep their own calendar, even when commanders-in-chief are trying to take some time off the clock. It’s an inconvenience of the presidency, but it’s what chief executives sign up for when they take the oath of office.

And if the president can interrupt his vacation for a swanky fundraiser for fellow Democrat Hillary Clinton, as he did on Monday, then surely he can make time to show up for a catastrophe that’s displaced thousands.

The optics of Obama golfing while Louisiana residents languished in flood waters was striking. It evoked the precedent of the passive federal response to the state’s agony in 2005, a chapter of history no one should ever repeat.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco "bungled" their response. They did nothing. Mississippi was hit just as hard but they had a governor who knew how to do his job. And, I would expect Obama to do something more than continue his vacation. Obama declared Louisiana a disaster area days ago and eligible for federal assistance. FEMA is on the ground in the disaster areas. He did what he needed to do. Assistance is what they need not a photo op from Obama. Bush did the same thing during Katrina, but the media pilloried him. Bush flew over the disaster area after he had already declared it a disaster area. Was it Brown leading FEMA that fouled up? No it was Governor Blanco not allowing the National Guard to do their job and Mayor Ray Nagin that did not evacuate the thousands he abandoned there. The number of school buses abandoned and flooded attested to that fact. As it happened more than 33,000 rescues were accomplished by National and Coast Guard helicopters. At the time, Mississippi was hit just as hard but they had a governor who knew how to do his job. And, I would expect Obama to do something more than continue his vacation.

So, today on CNN they are showing a photo op of trump visiting flood damaged Louisiana & trump handing out food packages ----Great
Now, I would have loved to see trump roll up his sleeves & get just a little dirt under his fingernails for me to even have an inkling that this wasn't just a photo op,maybe jeans instead of a business suit---
Now, I sure do hope trump doesn't use this to bash OBAMA,but,my guess is trump won't be able to pass up what he thinks is a golden opportunity----However----
The Governor of Louisiana,Bell Edwards was on Rachel Maddow last night,Rachel asked the Governor about a newspaper article criticizing OBAMA for not cutting short his vacation to come there, here is what in part the Governor said, " I have spoken to President OBAMA,he has signed the disaster relief I asked for, fima was here right away,Jay Johnson is here, the federal Government is doing their job,the President is welcome to come, any time he wants, however I would ask the President to wait a week or so,as I need all my resources for rescue effort right now & if the President came now I would have to pull my resources for the mandatory security"
So, trump, showing no respect & a distraction from the recovery efforts for a cheap photo op opposed to OBAMA respecting the Governors request but doing his job as POTUS & sending help-----

    Who cares?

LA is going to milk FEMA dry.

Big deal. LA will get their Federal money

This whole "Obama didn't visit" narrative is just more swamp water for the RWNJ echo chamber.

Every once in a while we see the rich and famice show up at disasters, does it really count when they have never done it before they are running for something?

    - What goes around ... comes around. -
Seems the Freshman Senator { Obama } wasted little time in his
specific criticism of President Bush over the apparent Bush Fly-over the
Katrina aftermath. As ... Only if Obama was president.
Well ... Obama IS President now. Like the BP oil spill,Obama is
    curiously Absent from duty.

I understand Obama hates Putin. And he is not the only leader he hates. He also hates Netanyahu.

My question is why do you hate Pu tin?

This is my take on Putin.

And it does not show i really like the guy. I have zero view on his being liked. Most important to him is that he is liked by his people.

Obama is disliked by millions of Americans. I believe Putin does not suffer that same problem in Russia.

I can't see why Obama hates that man's guts either. You don't lay sanctions on your friends.

We have done far more to Russia than they have done to this country. It is not even close.

Personally I'm not a golfer. Tried golf in my early days, just couldn't get my head around chasing a ball hill and vale. So if you say Obama is all you say, I believe you.

I tried to find the video of Obama excoriating Bush. Seems the original video has gone into the memory hole.

Oh, that's why righties want him there. I forgot that all righties think of Obama as some kind of messiah, and literally believe he has magical powers.

Normal people, however, understand that Obama doesn't have magical powers, and that he'd just get in the way right now, like Trump did. That's why most of whole nation is so disgusted with Trump over his publicity stunt.

Obama, he did exactly what a president should do. He made FEMA work, he gave them what they needed, he stayed out of the way. That's what Bush failed so hard at, and why Bush rightfully gets criticized.

Yeah, after his vacation is over...neither flood, fire, terrorist attack, hurricane or anything else will deter Obama from his appointed golf round...but he does have his hands full with Malia. She played beer pong at Brown, smoked weed at some concert and now was at a party on Martha's Vineyard that was raided by the police.

So, can you tell us of the sacrifices you made for the people there?

    Why aren't you down there?

Hypocrite. Get off your computer and go help, right this instant. You know, exactly what you demand of others.

Don't ask what others have one. What have you done to justify your self righteous attitude. While we are at it, no conservative has ever believe or thought that Obama is a messiah. Obama has made those statements by claiming he would calm the waters a lower the seas. A false messiah that only the useful idiots of the Socialist Marxist Left would only believe.

There was little in the way of Videos 10 years ago. This is a current phenomena.
Just like the way there is Little if no history behind Obama's upbringing.
Unless you trust in the media narrative that Stanley Ann Dunham was Barack
    Obama's Mother.Not one shred of resemblance.Nor his " supposed " father
Barack Obama Sr. Could a DNA match prove positive.
No wonder Stanley Ann Dunham is not around.Nor Obama's " supposed "
Grandmother. Who died just before his election.
How convenient that yet another blood relative is no longer around to be
    interviewed. Madelyn Payne Dunham.
