How obscene. Some of these guys are making TWO MILLION DOLLARS PER MONTH. And for what? Playing a game? Are they curing cancer? Promoting world peace? Developing lifesaving medicines? WHAT IS THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY???? And now they don't even have the decency to stand for the National Anthem?

Back during the bad old days of bailouts in the banking and mortgage industry, President Obama capped executive pay at $500,000. Well heck, that's PLENTY of money for most folks. I propose any team that plays in a publicly-subsidized stadium should be subject to new federal rules that cap player salaries at $500,000. The team owner can also take up to $500,000 of the team's profits, with the rest of it going to the government agency that owns or subsidizes the stadium. That will give them a little money to "spread the wealth around a little" as President Obama was so fond of recommending.

I agree. The Top 1% in America should be allowed no more than a million dollars a year. The rest of their money should be subject to a 100% tax.

A million? Why let them have so much? Really the average family of four can get by on $80,000/ yr. Who needs 12x that much???

The fans are about to cap their salaries for them if they don't figure this thing out.

People with maids and lawn care companies and such. Besides, they still have property tax and state taxes to take out of that million.

If you all didn't want your team to win so bad they wouldn't get paid so much.

Wow, I'll simply state that I oppose all price fixing measures taken by government.

It is profit fixing, not price fixing. You can sell a million $1 things or one $1M thing.

They can clean their own houses and mow their own lawns. If they can't afford their property taxes, the government can repurpose those properties for them.

These players don't need $2m per month. That's too much... and they can't even be bothered to stand for the country that permits them to own all those Range Rovers?

The cap is too high. No player should make over $500,000 if they can't stand for the anthem.

Well a handful make that much. Most make much less.

The average NFL career length is 3.3 years. The average American worker has a career much longer than that. So you can't compare the relatively high salaries without looking at how long they actually are able to earn that money.

Also, they are trading their health for your entertainment, which is I suppose their contribution to society. Entertainment is vital for society.

Funny, you don't like what they have to say about something and so your solution is command their labor market? That's rich. I don't think any city should subsidize a stadium unless they have ultimate control over the venue, but that said, what you are proposing is beyond socialist or Marxist, it's just down right vengeful.

After taxes and all their agency cuts, they are probably barely scrapping by on $500K a month out of that

Then start your own professional football league and you can pay your players whatever you want. Check with President Trump on how it's done. Ask him about the USFL. One of his finer failures in a long history of failed business enterprises.

Canyou believe it. a conservative calling for salary caps and suggesting the government needs to fix it?

Next thing you know he'll be demanding unions be protected, more regulations about really important issues like this need to be issued, and taxes should be increased on the rich.
