This bill is active and ready to be passed this month. Forcing gender quotas on corporations is a huge intrusion into the affairs of businesses in CA. I suspect companies will either leave or bring aboard token women just to meet the quota. I also suspect, if this becomes law, that it won't last long once the companies take this issue to court. For this law to go in effect it must pass the assembly by the end of August and Moonbeam has to sign it.
I do wonder though whether a man who 'identifies as a woman' will qualify as a woman for the purpose of these quotas... In California they'd have to be very sensitive to that. You can't do anything to insinuate that a transexual woman may be anything other than a woman...
Just another example of the tyranny of the left. In their mind, the company doesn't decide who sits on their corporate board, the state decides. This is the type of sexist tyranny that must be eradicated from our midst, the sexism of a tyrannical state. We need a real DOJ to prosecute actions like this, not the missing-in-action DOJ we have now.
Forced "equality" isn't equality. All they're doing here is virtue signalling, and giving the impression that they're doing something meaningful about something which isn't even a problem in the first place.
I can only agree that this is a bad idea. Quota systems like this do not get the most qualified people into a position. It gets people shoved in who may not even want the job and likely aren't the best qualified. The only thing I could agree with is what they undoubtedly alread had laws for - preventing discrimination based on sex and other such factors that should not influence whether a person gets a certain position.
I like how America's leftists accuse other people of being fascists. it's as if these giant brains don't understand that fascism is an economic system... an economic system that basically bridges the gap between private ownership of means of production and state ownership of means of production. an economic system that totally controls means of production, but is generous enough to let business owners have their names on the deed. Professional leftists have embraced fascism because they know they will be slaughtered in the streets if they actually tried to follow through on Maxine Waters' threat... (also why they so desperately want to ban and confiscate semiautomatic rifles)
