What if the Virus NEVER went away until the Vaccine was invented? Could the USA actually live like this for 18 More Months? I am of the opinion that if this current "New Normal" lasts longer than a couple of months, then it may not go away for a really long time. How long can the USA last under this "New Normal"? Thoughts?
Don't downplay the strength of the American people. My mom lived through the depression. We can do 18 months standing on our heads if we have too.
True. But, it won't be easy. The Depression was a completely different time and place. No comparison to the Modern (Plugged in) Society. But, the livelihoods of so many people are going to destroyed. No Sports. No Music Concerts. No Broadway. No Disneyland. Are people going to stop going to the Movies?
as more people, particularly healthy ones get a milder form of the virus the population as a whole may begin to develop an immunity and it may slow the spread.
We should probably be talking with the Chinese and Korean companies to see if we can't do something with that 18 months or it's gonna be a nasty flu season.
Very true. The thing of it is: That, many citizens think this is just a "temporary thing", the might be over in a couple of months. But, IF this does become "indefinite", the economic ramifications are going to be unfathomable. Then again: Trump is a big fan of bloviated hyperbole and he loves that phrase "like we've never seen".
An article in the LA Times is saying that quite a few people in China who have been released from hospital as cured are retesting positive after a few days after releases, Japan and South Korea have also seen this in a few cases.
Only palliative treatment is available in any country afaik. If a patient beats coronavirus on palliative treatment by building up natural immunity, the thing won't have much effect on them the second time around. It's the same as having had the immunization if there was one. The immunization really doesn't help you; it only causes your own immune system to help you.
They're saying we may need to be living this way for the next 2 to 3 years, just to slow the infection rate so that it does not exceed our capacity to treat those who become infected. Of course, what does that mean to our economy being on hold for that time? Thanks Trump!
Wow, Bro'. Scary Scenario if that actually happened. Hopefully it doesn't. The implications-- of waiting for the development of a safe effective vaccine (maybe 18 months at the earliest) being the earliest date that things could go "back to normal"-- are unfathomable. Nightmare scenario.
Personally, if you tell me 80% of people infected with coronavirus have no symptoms or very mild symptoms and most of the other 20% have pre-existing health conditions, I will have little concern. I am more concerned with the annual flu. When I get the flu I am very ill for a week or two, and I hate being sick! COVID-19 is not worth shutting down the country, we only need to provide better protection for the most at risk population.
It won't be that long the US company with one can charge whatever they want and it will be paid $100 a shot, $1000 a shot or $10000 a shot or more. The government can't do much to stop that under our free market system. It likely will slow or stall in Summer so we have time it still a virus that causes common colds so the normal weaknesses should apply. A vaccine with luck will be ready by winter by someone.
Well, just practice the safety steps to try and prevent infection. Wash your hands a lot, use hand sanitizer if you cannot wash. Cough into a tissue, and throw it away. Stay away from people coughing. Keep your hands and fingers out of your face. Limit your exposure to others, avoid crowds and common areas. Who knows, by following these safety steps we may actually save a lot of lives which usually are lost to the common flu.
Reimbursing the development costs to create a vaccine is part of what that $8.3 billion is for, so we will not have to pay so much out of pocket for a vaccine.
They can do both take government funds then charge a butt ton of money by the vial only first responders vulnerable people must get it for everyone else the odds are they'll blow it off as a common cold since its the same type of virus. Anti-Vaxxers will also want to opt out. The money still could be amazing considering the global market.
There are also other treatments being worked on--one is an anti-viral drug developed for Ebola, that has been shown to work on MERS and SARS. https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news-releases/nih-clinical-trial-remdesivir-treat-covid-19-begins
A vaccine could not be created for sars or mers . like the common cold that is also a corona virus. No vaccine for the common cold corona virus. Covid19 is a corona virus. Logically the data says no Covid19 vaccine is possible or will work. Unlike sars and mers this one is more contagious plus you can infect others while not yet feeling sick. Perhaps those that live will develop enough immunity so eventually it is like the flu with lower kill rates.
Relax folks. The whole thing is a hoax. (And no, it's not an Obama/Democrat-created hoax like Trump thinks.) You're in no greater or lesser danger than before all this "pandemic" nonsense. It's just flu. Just be sure never to take ANY medication if you get a flu or cold. This is always dangerous due to flu + drug interaction. For example a lady once told me she became diabetic after coming down with the flu. I was suspicious, so I asked her if she took medication during her flu. She said yes, both OTC & prescription. This reaction is something I've been observing over the years. People's kidneys will even shut down...so who knows what can happen depending on the person & reaction. Plus, many, like the elders are already on medication so they're particularly in danger. And with children, parents often get scared or wish to relieve their child's discomfort and give them medication when they get a cold or flu. So they're taking a big risk as well. So if you get the flu just bundle up and stay VERY warm and HELP the fever. I know it's very uncomfortable to be so hot in heavy blankets, but it'll make the flu pass much faster. Don't try to bring the fever down. Fever is the body's way of activating specific enzymes, facilitating waste removal, and, if necessary, weakening bacterial/fungal overgrowth. So stay warm, and drink plenty of good water. Your flu should be gone the next day (you'll know when the fever "breaks" after you wake up sweating). I don't believe the flu or cold is due to any so-called "virus"...but rather the body's way of cleansing itself. So help it along. There's a saying..."Where's there heat, there's healing." And, as always, stay clear of any vaccines now or in the future. The cocktail of toxic "adjuvants" (particularly aluminum) is shocking, and it's going directly into your bloodstream (capillaries) without first being "filtered/processed" through the digestive, filtration, and immune system. So they're very dangerous. My now deceased mom decided to take the annual flu vaccine in her later years, after which she began losing her memory quickly. I had warned her, but being very old fashioned/traditional & trusting of authority she wouldn't listen. The only thing really to worry about is panicking people...plus whatever our govt has planned with this global hoax (eg, quarantines, road blocks, martial law, forced vaccinations, etc.). And if a bunch of businesses, schools, events, airports/airlines, travel, etc. are shut down, then what will people do when money dries up? Yep...massive panic...including stores going empty of essential goods...which = MORE panic. (So much for capitalism..lol) Best thing to do is just relax. But I know we can't count on everyone doing that.
