I don’t think most states cut off ballot arrival on Election Day. I know California doesn’t, it all depends on the postmark. The post office being slow shouldn’t mean my vote doesn’t count.

 

He also won’t run again. He knows an incumbent has a huge advantage. It wouldn’t surprise me if he resigns after 2.5 or 3 years, giving the country time to see she can be president. Then she can be elected for a further two terms. That would be his legacy.
If he steps away before 2 years she could only serve one further term.

Congratulations America on removing this vile man from office. Outside a handful of dictators and right wing nutters the world is breathing a collective sigh of relief. We can now start working ot heal alliances and undo the damage done.

There have been few people so manifestly unsuited for the Presidency and perhaps none who have so degraded the office - something he continues to do even after defeat. The road ahead will be difficult, but you have now given yourselves an opportunity to heal your nation and its institutions. This will not be an easy or quick task. best of luck.

Trump lost share of rich white elites. He gained share with blacks. He gained share with Hispanics. He gained share with Muslims. He gained share with the working-class voter. Which of those "sycophantic" groups will history not be kind to?

 

I tend to agree that he won't run again, but I don't think he will resign short of ill health. I think that just handing Harris the Presidency would be a mistake - I think it would actually give her a legitimacy problem.

My bet is that he will give her a higher profile & more reponsibility than any Vice President has had for a good long while. She will be given the opportunity to establish a profile and a record of working in government and thus the inside track for the 2024 nomination. That won't guarantee her anything, especially if she makes a hash of it, but it will guarantee her a rare opportunity. If she is capable

 

I love it when people spend years supporting Trump and then get upset because people don't use a particular tone when talking to them. The cognitive dissonance there is off the charts. it is also a reminder that the thing most dear to Trump supporters is their sense of victimhood.
