In April, U.S.-Mexico border detentions reached a 21-year monthly high when over 178,000 migrants illegally crossed the border. A number of these unaccompanied minors and families who cross the U.S.-Mexico border come from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras.

Giammattei argues that the region’s climate and economy aren’t the prime culprits for the unprecedented rise in illegal U.S.-Mexico border crossings, but that the Biden administration’s immigration policies are to blame.

The Guatemalan president said he and Harris “are not on the same side of the coin” on migration.


“We asked the United States government to send more of a clear message to prevent more people from leaving,” Giammattei said.


When Biden took office, “The message changed too: ‘We’re going to reunite families, we’re going to reunite children,’” he said. “The very next day, the coyotes were here organizing groups of children to take them to the United States.”

You will hear the same out of the leaders from El Salvador and Mexico. They know they are losing key parts of their population because Democrats and Joe Biden have put out the welcome mat to Mexicans and Central Americans.

 

It’s still criminal that Mexico freely allows these people to cross through their country knowing their goals. The fact we even allow them into our country is a joke. They should be handed right to the Mexican police to return them back where they came from.

 

Remember when there were migrants on the Mexican side of the border kidnapping small children when it was announced that migrants with children would get preferential treatment in the United States.
Democrats in Congress were saying that refugee families with children should be released from detention and let in to the US.
Even though many of them would just simply "disappear" before their asylum claims had been processed.

 

Sounds like the same message to me:
Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday sought to deter migrants from trying to cross into the U.S., issuing her warning during a bilateral meeting with President Alejandro Giammattei in Guatemala.

“Do not come. Do not come,” Harris said during her first major address abroad, which she delivered in English. “The United States will continue to enforce our laws and secure our border.”

 

I remember just a few shorts months ago when the other guy was POTUS and we were told that what the rest of the world thought about us did not matter.

My how times change quickly.

 

I watched it a couple hours ago. She basically said the only people that benefit from all this are the coyotes.

I have a friend who is a staunch Trump supporter. She basically thinks that Harris "disobeyed a direct order from Biden to go to the border.". I don't know if she isn't clear on Harris' role or not but Harris knows this is a political hot potato. She can't afford to get down in the trenches if she's eyeing First Chair at some point.

 

Yes, some of the coyotes use it as an opportunity to sexually abuse the women and girls they are smuggling.

It's actually very common.

 

I wonder how many wingers on here know we don't actually share a border with Guatemala??

Biden's internal polling must have told them their pro illegal alien message doesn't sit well with American. Remember, she supported giving illegals free health care.

I dont give a **** what Guatemala thinks about us or our immigration policies. That isn't the point.

The point is Bidens words and actions have consequences, and those are increased immigrants attempting to enter the country.
