That's basically what he said. I completely agree.

We have a vaccine, pills to treat the disease on the way, getting access to home tests. It's a long fight but we're winning it. Except for the red states that don't want to play ball because "freedom or whatever".

I have no clue the context for your conversation with DerideoT, and more likely than not, there's something more to it.

Covid 19 is going to be around for awhile. So reorient the economy taking into account things like regular shortfalls, sick employees, striking workers, etc. For example, make minimum wage higher and improve benefits to workers so they're less likely to go on strike. Though I would also be more in favor of letting them unionize.

Oh I'm neither. I'm just quoting the Sadler report which was a deep dive into labor conditions in factories in the 1830's, England. See they asked themselves, what good is freedom if you are too tired to enjoy it? How can a person enjoy their freedom of religion, if they are too tired to sing in church? All I'm doing is asking the same question. What good is your freedom to speak if you're on a ventilator? What I'm forcing you to do is to actually defend the concept of freedom as something worth having vs. say life. Look at your argument. It's chock full of "it's what America stands for" which is an appeal to the status quo. Not a strong argument because it relies on power of the status quo alone to carry it through, vs the ideas in of themselves. I mean look at how you're describing freedom:

    "
But freedom, even under the threat of death, sickness, dismemberment, torture, the death and torture of family and friends... is a much more precious gift. Freedom gives man the ability to forge his own destiny, overcome his own mistakes, battle through and beat his own obstacles and either succeed or fail no matter the consequences by his own hand."

What good is your vaunted freedom when the person that matters most to a person dies? What good was that "freedom" then? How can a person "forge his own destiny" when they're permanently disabled from covid? What kind of life are you advocating for? This is just a bad life. You need a better argument to justify why freedom is better. Because one of those "security" (I'm sorry I can't take that line seriously) loving communists is going to come in and say "hey I can make your life better by giving you free healthcare" and people will go to that message instead because they're listening to what people need. Your argument is lazy and I'm calling you out on it.

I agree, that's why I'm trying to help you sort out the problems in your argument. I'm noticing you haven't told me what should happen if we let people decide whether or not they should be vaccinated. What should happen if we let people chose for themselves?

That would explain the lack of epi-pens in the right wing stash.

The lefts arguments throughout this entire thread are entirely nonsensical. Covid is overwhelmingly a weak "pandemic" that doesn't hurt the healthy.

Its simple, if you want to be vaxxed then get vaxxed. If you dont, then dont.

    Life moves on.

Yeah, I can't allow the NYT as a source. Their stories are made up.

Therefore you can't use anyone as a source - or you can use EVERYONE as a valid source. I mean, you just argued that NewsMax is as valid as anyone else because they're all made up.

Or maybe you just reduced to absurdity your own argument. Listen to what you're saying. Either we can't trust news (which is absurd) or gutter trash is the same as the finest bit of journalism (which is also absurd). In the face of such absurdity we reject the argument.

What it means is now that Biden’s death count is higher than Trump’s even though Biden had the benefits of three vaccines and treatments, Biden will blame governors for all future deaths and he will be blameless. It’s a real scumbag move after all the things he said about Trump.

But the bicoastal secular progressive elites don’t get to control your life that way! And for them, it’s all about control!

Which in turn was responding to your claim that you can’t trust the NYT because “ Their stories are made up”. You have no grounds for dismissing the NYT because they make up stories. All sources do. That’s basic journalism. So you have to have a more stringent criteria.

Isn't that sad that basic journalism today is "making up stories"?

Wading into this interesting little philosophical mud match you both have going on. Technically, yes they all make up "stories"(that is, they are attempting to tell us something via print or oral(speaking) form.) On the other hand, what validates a story and what makes a respectable news organization is when they are able to buff up the statements of the story with independent, verifiable facts or to tell something so obvious as to be observable(ie: the sky's blue, water's wet, etc.).

Stories with verifiable or proven facts behind them are rightly called "news" and given our attention. Stories without these facts are called opinions. Unfortunately, in today's news cycle world the two have become indistinguishable due to the ever favored "sources close to the information". We cannot verify these sources, or take what they say with any veracity at all.

We are left in a game of heads you win, tails you lose. Half of the stories(far too many for a reputable paper) will end up being false, "corrected" and then buried somewhere. The other half may prove to be true, but by which point we've moved on. The media has abused our trust in them as a purveyor of neutral facts by injecting their subjective opinions into what is supposed to be empirical.

Until editors regain control of the editing room, then even if DJT were to be dead and buried we would still have mistrust of today's American Media @Kranes56

What you’re basically saying is that we can’t look at a piece just because it’s biased but we also have to take into account the form of the news itself? It’s not enough the source is biased but it also needs to have a history of being a “bad news source”. Whatever that happens to be? Bias can be just one component of why it’s a bad source.

Why not just come out and say that if it is Christian and or conservative that to you it’s a bad source. That’s how MBFC does it.

Quite the mistake. And you still fail to refute my argument- vaccines should be a choice for the individual and not mandated by the state.

I had “wise” professors too, and none of them were foolish enough to ponder: why does freedom matter. Perhaps it is because they spent time overseas in other countries studying and saw firsthand how their colleagues lived under dictatorships and authoritative regimes.

If you betray your beliefs, that’s on you and speaks to a lack of a personal moral code.

I already said why it’s a bad source. It’s because they don’t do basic fact checks.

Well yeah I can’t refute your argument because your argument is a statement. It’s a premise without an argument.

As for your wise professors? That’s… really bad because it means you didn’t have a classist education. I’m not saying I’m better but Aristotle and Plato hated democracy and I read their reasons why they preferred authoritative regimes. The inability to explain why freedom is better is why we’re in this mess we’re in right now. They didn’t teach their students why “freedom” is better. And now they can’t explain why China isn’t a bustling democracy. Simply assuming something is true without an argument why is just lazy or at worse disengenious.

CNN doesn't do basic fact checks either, nor does MSNBC

Like his statements a year ago that it WAS a federal matter and his 7 point plan federal would end COVID?

Like every other issue Biden deflects and blames someone else and shifts responsibility to someone else.

So when he campaigned against Trump claiming Trump had no federal plan but his federal plan would end COVID he was lying?

    Dude. He is quoted.

This attempt to deflect from topics because you don't like the source when it's quoted is a blatant attempt to avoid.
