This lady literally told this reporter when asked about teaching more US history which would include Native American genocide and African American slavery "well, no, no, we don't need to teach everything".

But claimed that the Chinese know more US history than we do. So why does she only want parts of US history taught?

Are we supposed to portray America as free and equal since day 1? **** here.

You have shown this slide before. Individuals claiming proof is never presented are clearly wrong and anyone who has been a member of PF for any length of time knows they are wrong.

It is proof enough for me. It proves my point that the label, CRT, has been misappropriated for political reasons. From the first linked article:

" ... Despite the existence of all this literature explicitly recommending that CRT tenets be taught in the classroom, when CRT educators speak to the public, they seem to choose to obscure the connection between CRT and classroom teaching—perhaps precisely because of their expressed commitment to their political goals. For example, when Gloria Ladson-Billings was asked in a 2021 National Public Radio interview whether CRT applies to the classroom, her answer was equivocal and evasive: “I don’t know that it does apply to the classroom. But from an educational policy standpoint, it applies to things like suspension rates, assignment to special education, testing and assessment, curricular access – you know, who gets into honours and AP [Advanced Placement courses], who doesn’t.” An attentive listener might have wondered how CRT could possibly apply to these areas—all related to classroom practice—without also “applying to the classroom.”
First of all, if it's a theory that is intended to promote critical thinking about race, then the idea of teaching tenets is pretty much limited to tenets of critical thinking. Yet the author seems to be suggesting that CRT is promoting the opposite--that students are being instructed to think about diversity without including the critical thinking part.

The person interviewed by NPR said she doesn't know how "teaching" CRT applies to the classroom and points out it deals with suspension rates, special ed., testing, and curricular access to higher level classes. If CRT is part of education, that likely would not be for students, but for staff. Should we take the time to think critically and question why there is a problem, or should we just rely on our biases and assumptions?

The evidence I'm seeing suggests that it is diversity, not CRT that's being taught. We really need to be more accurate as far as labelling this stuff because if we can't get the labels right, what else are we getting wrong? I see a highly politically motivated effort in this.

I actually consider it a huge win that we finally have people willing to admit CRT actually exists, as - up to this point - it was a struggle to get people it was out there at all.

The fear factor of an idea should already let one know the irrational thoughts humans use to hide a subject.

100% accurate in my experience. I myself have breezed through a variety of college courses simply by appealing to the benefits of racial diversity without ever thinking critically. The instructors love to see it.

Why teach this garbage at all? It is nothing but lies.

This left wing crap should not be tolerated. This is what happens when lefties get their way. You give them an inch and they take a mile. Folks just tolerate this nonsense to placate liberals but the tolerance leads to worse and worse outcomes. The answer is to resist this garbage from the start.

In your example provided for the Alpine district...why is that such a problem? Students will have to research the subject and make their own conclusions. Only one side was provided, but there are plenty of arguments for the opposing side if they choose to look. Since when are we supporting the spoon feeding of students? This example suggested to me that they are forced to actually research the subject, think about it, and decide which side they want to support.

I think with many of these articles, we are finding that students are being given assignments that will force them to think. And then research. I'm all for that - no matter the side they choose.

They are being spoon fed. They’re being spoon fed an indoctrination of a one sided source. If they wanted them to do their own research then why give them any side of the argument at all? This is indoctrination not teaching

You can see it as you choose. I see them being given one view and asked to write an essay about it. They weren't told that they needed to support or refute it. If they were told they had to support it and could only use the one source, I'd agree with you. But that wasn't the case in Alpine.

The problem is having curriculum change so that all teachers preach a dictated politically sided agenda. Because, regular Teachers have always pushed their personal agenda. I recall when as an 8 year old my teacher bringing in peanuts and throwing them to kids and having some local politician come in and speak about how great Jimmy Carter was when he was going against Reagan. As a kid, I was impressionable and impressed with the speach in front of the class. I went home and asked my father if he was voting for Carter, and he tore into me for believing that crap.
