It is not necessary to go to church do you agree it is not written in the bible not going to church is not a big sin
"Don’t be deceived, bad company corrupts good character." The Church is the body of Christ. 'A church' is a group of people claiming to be part of the body of Christ, and by their fruits you shall know them. If a congregation claiming to be the church makes you feel you belong and helps you grow in good character, then you should consider going there.
It certainly is not necessary to go to a church, mosque, temple, sacred grove, or what have you. God, and all of creation, is within us. That being said, there is nothing wrong with gathering with like-minded individuals for inspiration, an exchange of ideas, and support. But that certainly is not mandatory. It is religious dogma to control the masses that forces such things.
Some maybe. Many others go to feel closer to god, or find camaraderie with fellow Christians. I don’t think there is a one size fits all here. in most places people are not forced into church at gunpoint, though there may be social or political reasons to go. For others it may be purely spiritual. I don’t think we should use blanket statements when it comes to spirituality. Everyone is at a different point, whether it is Christian, Muslim, Hindu, etc, or just spiritual.
That depends on the person. Many christians are not remotely spiritual. Many are. Spirituality and truth can be found in every religion. Spirituality can be found in a temple, or on the ocean, or in a forest, or on the face of Mars. It has more to do what is going on within us, than around us. The bible holds many truths when approached from a perspective discarding the dogma that has been attached. Much of the teachings of Jesus have been removed or distorted to support a hierarchical power structure, but truth is still there regardless. You just have to be aware to separate the junk from the truth. It is nothing a little meditation can't sort out.
Not really. They choose to go or not. Some people prefer TV or youtube preachers. Some will go very infrequently for other reasons like wedding/funerals/high holidays. There are some ministries that will go to people's homes. My neighbor's church doesn't have a building. They just gather at the home of whoever will be hosting that week.
It seems to me that says more to just help, encourage, and share ideas with each other. That can occur anywhere, at any time. The main problem I have with church is that it sets up a hierarchy, and tends to be a one way conversation. The priest/preacher tells the message, and everyone is expected to have the same views on everything. But that is not how spirituality works. Different people are at different stages, and may be incarnated in this life to learn lessons totally different from the others in church. That is why I think a looser structure of equals is the way to go, so that people can freely seek the lessons they need from different people present, rather than have a single person with a single message. Not to mention the hierarchies that churches adopt have lead to massive abuses of power in both the past and the present. So, yeah, I think Hebrews 10:24-25 is a great message, but I don't think it is necessarily talking about a church.
From my experience what comes out of the media, however ridiculous, is believed, while what is said in church is often forgotten.
I've had many discussions with church leaders over Biblical interpretation and we didn't always agree. Some things are set in stone and many others are debatable.
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. The church leadership of the Episcopal Church is deceived - blaming the Russian Federation, a latecomer to the war in Ukraine, for starting it. If the church is deceived is there any point in going to church? As I see it there are three parts to church: the worship, the sermon, and the gathering afterward. The worship, and the gathering are valid even if the sermon isn't, but the sermon might be of local value or personal value even if the church is really off the rails on a bunch of things. But it might be preferable to find a church that isn't off the rails.
If a church has gone bad then beware, you do not need to feel obliged to go to it. “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men."
I've seen cake, and ice cream, I can't remember ice cream being mentioned in the Bible. Oh, my Bible is 1978, it's a bit out of date.
In Mississauga, Ontario I know of a Sikh temple that has free food for everyone all the time, and it's better than my food at home. You have a point here.
