My daughter is in her 7th year as a teacher. This is the first school year she's been among the armed teachers/staff on her campus.

This policy should lower the chances of a staged event like Sandy Hook happening in Tennessee.

 

That was fast. Sounds like the teachers were very eager to get some protection.

 

How long before some deranged kid jumps an armed teacher, gets control of the gun and starts targeting classmates?

 

How long before some deranged and senile career politician is installed in the White House and starts targeting US citizens by way of lawfare?

 

I don’t fundamentally have a problem with teachers being armed in lieu of a better solution, and can appreciate the hidden nature of this versus a clear and obvious security personnel armed and geared walking around.

That said, I hope rigorous training and securing of the weapons, including limitations on ammo(like no more than 2 clips per gun and just 1 gun per teacher) with regular inspections, are implemented

Make sure the teachers are trained by IDF in Israel. That way we will be assured that violent and disproportionate responses will be seen in the Tennessee school system. Israeli training will assure the teachers will become brutes.

 

Will they increase teachers salaries because now they performing a task not subjected to the contract.
One year salary for any educator that matches senior police officer would be required.
This above and beyond their regular salary of teaching!

 

So what I’m seeing here is just more or rightwinglandia still not understanding the issues at hand.

We are doing this in my state (IA) and the only training required is a “HOW TO SHOOT COURSE”……..but what about WHEN to shoot. I guarantee in the next 1-2 years there will be more than one shooting where a student either gets a teachers gun, or where someone comes into the school with a firearm and is not taken out by a teacher because teachers aren’t psychologically trained as the WHEN, WHERE, and WHY to shoot

You want to protect students, hire TRAINED armed guards. This “bring your gun to work every day” BS for TEACHERS is beyond a bad idea.

 

How long before a teacher shoots a student or colleague?

 

How long before a teacher, most likely having no training in handling a gun or in tactical situations, reacts to something like a firecracker going off and accidentally shoots themselves or someone else?

The odds of that happening are far greater than stopping a school shooting.
