The point is you don’t know if an animal should be kept alive or not. It’s not black and white. You can’t put all horses out to graze that can’t be ridden. Pretty soon there would be no grass for your steak to eat.

She doesn't state that the goat used to butt her children. She just states that it smelled and chased her children. Are you saying that the journalist is making up the quote?

Who said she was breeding the goat?
She said it was a family pet.
    One more time:
    The pointS.

Yes, castration is a common practice for goats, and can be beneficial for a number of reasons:

      • Working goats: Castrated male goats, or wethers, are often used as working goats.
      • Meat production: Castration can improve meat quality.
      • Manageability: Castration can make animals more manageable.
      • Unwanted pregnancies: Castration can prevent unwanted pregnancies.
      • Docility: Castration can make goats less aggressive and more docile, which can be useful for pets, pack animals, or fiber harvesting.
      • Smell: Castration can eliminate the strong odor that comes from intact male goats urinating on themselves.
      • Herd health: Only one buck is needed to breed many does.
      • Breeding season: Bucks can be hard to handle, especially during breeding season, and can be

No strawman fallacy when talking about Noem's/politician's lack of compassion and human decency.

this governor should be impeached for stupidity.

why is she bragging about shooting a helpless dog?? and making it public?? in 2024??

yes, she is from south dakota ..and maybe in the 1800's this would have been good for a campaign in the wild west

but again...this is 2024...the world has changed , even in south dakota this is unacceptable behavior

being a meat consumer, hunter and fisherman, former small farm owner and owner of many dogs over the course of my life

I will withhold judgment of Noem for shooting her own dog..it was her property and she can do what she wants with it...I am NOT an animal rights activist.... most of the groups that claim to be helping animals are just big business's where the leaders are knocking down 7 figure salaries all the while grifting the public out of their money by pulling at the heartstrings of good honest Americans...NOBODY wants to see animals suffer ...animal lovers are easy targets for grifters like PETA and the ASPCA

    with that said..

on more than one occasion, I have had veterinarians assist me in making difficult decisions regarding my livestock/pets ...
and when the prognosis is tragic, the veterinarian does the job.. NOT me

every veterinarian is trained to euthanize livestock/pets in a humane manner ..shooting a dog is not humane

my judgment of her is that she decided to make this public and put it in a book about her life

her bragging about shooting a young healthy dog may be the most disgusting thing I have seen of a politician

south dakota or not...her actions before and after are disgusting to say the least

why does she claim shooting her own dog is an act of courage??...

her bragging about doing such a thing is just as disgusting as the act itself

some situations are worse than death..and no animal should be made to suffer ..

death begins at fertilization. all animals big and small will at some point go over the bridge

but in todays world...if a life is ended with a bullet , it should not be considered a badge of honor

You are welcome to your opinion. I don’t particularly care for Noem or any politician so have no dog in that fight. I’m fine with women whacking their little bastards if they see them as a danger to themselves and others. I’m fine with a woman whacking a goat that’s harming her children, too.

She wrote that the goat would chase her kids and knock them down.
The kids also could have fallen running away, we'll never know, eh?

    Gravel Pit Kristi:

"Cricket had the time of her life"

Ummm. Lots of people breed family pets. I’m not sure what that has to do with anything. I have cows and goats and all kinds of other animals around that are bred for profit but are still “pets” to me. By strict definition of law a goat is a farm animal and not a pet. I don’t see it that way, but….

Of course castration is a good animal husbandry practice. We castrate the vast majority of our buck kids. I don’t see how this is relevant to the subject.

Let me get this straight. She grew up on a farm and she had to kill a fairly vicious dog. OK. Got it.

In most states they are still understood to be either property or pets and as such any dog at large which is damaging property or pets or persons, can be dealt with in the appropriate matter

Yes there are complaints from other neighbors. The neighbor next to me said that they also would not let him get out of his truck one day for however many minutes it took the dogs to get bored and wander off.

They also recently put up a fence and they told me it was because of them and that when his girlfriend had been coming outside to walk the baby she had been keeping her pistol on her person.

Went to go to animal control just a minute ago but of course they're closed today.

I have a text message on my phone from my girlfriend that morning I got home about the two loose dogs on our property which at that point were already familiar to me because they were loitering outside of my vehicle.

Evidently minutes before I got home she went to open the door to go on the porch and one of them was on our porch growling at her.

And animal control has been over there once before for a cyclist sustaining a minor scratch or something from one of them. And then once again for evident concern about the husbandry of the animals

Naturally every Pitbull owner in the world swears that their dog is a sweetheart and would never hurt a flea..... It could be sitting there chewing your leg off and they would say, oh he's just playing....

These are two purebred fully grown intact male pitbulls. They would have torn my dog in half if I hadn't have been out there to put a stop to it.

Pretty sad world when you have to sit on your own porch watching your dog with a weapon handy.

I don't even know what thought process goes through people's brains when they think they should own a whole damn pack of pit bulls, especially considering they don't have a real house to stay in since the hurricane destroyed their mobile home 2 years ago and they live in a tiny camper

Gravel Pit Kristi's political analogy was in telling everyone about the cruel, horrific actions of hers in her campaigning for VP book it makes her overly qualified for Trump's VP.
Cricket and the poor goat were a hell of a lot smarter then this dumb arrogant bitch.

"She includes her story about the ill-fated Cricket,(and goat) she says, to illustrate her willingness, in politics as well as in South Dakota life, to do anything “difficult, messy and ugly” if it simply needs to be done."

    What do you guys think?

GPK gave Kimmel/Colbert enough material for them to run with it?

Keep digging in that gravel pit Kristi.

"As Noem explained in a follow-up tweet, “people are looking for leaders who are authentic, willing to learn from the past, and don’t shy away from tough challenges,” adding: “Whether running the ranch or in politics, I have never passed on my responsibilities to anyone else to handle. Even if it’s hard and painful.”

They hate her because she's on Trump's Veep list. That's all.

If she was a Democrat, she could kill the dog, then butt **** the carcass. They wouldn't care.

    Yea, that's it. :roflol:

You conveniently forgot..again, that many of us here blamed the Biden's for their shepherd's biting people, not the dogs who never should have been in that environment.
You failed with your same old same old lines.

    Where's the Prima Donnie?
Has he come out yet and defended his puppy-goat killer?
Maybe GPKs just a footnote to him now cause he has Meatballs campaigning and raising money for him?

Did her kids already know before now that she shot their pet puppy and pet goat?
Have any of them been on Fox/Newsmax defending Mommy Dearest ?

"At first blush, the accusations sounded like scurrilous accusations floated by a former aide who was determined to destroy her political career.
But that's not what happened: Rather, it was Noem herself who wrote a memoir in which she described, among other things, killing her 14-month-old dog named Cricket.

Why in the world would Kristi Noem admit to shooting her dog?
