First- without meritocracy, America would never have become a world leader. You can't win first prize with last-place complacency. You can't even survive in business or any kind of competitive activity that way.

You think I'm disconnected- because you are disconnected. I'm old- and went into business the first time in 1967. Never worked for anyone else since. Founded nine companies so far, presently run and am the CEO of two- one a manufacturing business with clients in over 100 nations, the other a national non-profit for improving our nation. I'm also a successful investor and a consultant for some special techniques in managing. Just could be that I learned something you have missed along the way.

Jobs- are a means where a company buys services, that will help it make money and operate successfully. This IS NOT a welfare process, it is strictly obtaining one of the things needed to make the business work. When you buy something, I'm willing to bet you want the best buy for your money, you want the thing you buy to fill the purpose you bought it for, and you want to be able to may that choice completely on your own judgement. and you have the right to buy what you like, reject what you like- BECAUSE IT IS YOUR MONEY. That is not only reasonable, istis totally logical and your right.
You have never bought something below par or paid more than you had to- because you felt sorry for it.

It is also the best thing for the potential job seekers; it shows that you have to have something of value to offer if you are going to try to sell yourself. If you don't- why bother to acquire it

The only place of trade where that natural and logical process isn't followed- is Employment. There, the voters (who are mostly employees) decided that selling their services is different than the services when they are buyers, and as the majority dictates the trend of government, the rules should be upside down.

Finding what works IS the key element for business hiring. Not color or any other factor- but performance and benefit to the objective of the company. In public service- same thing. The right person is one who can do the job very well, maintain the right attitude in themselves and any function they administrate, and stick to the rules.

That is how you make things successful. It has nothing to do with social equality, charity, welfare or anything- other than a buyer looking for product or services to fill a need.
IF every black person a company hired was an exceptional performer- the company would be actively seeking black employees. Not because they were black, but because it seemed to be an indicator of good performance. As far as I'm concerned, an employee is in business for themselves, selling their personal services for an agreed-upon price- and the same rules you follow as a buyer should be fair for me when I am the buyer.

As for proof- that is perspective. IF you are qualified and understand how something works, all you have to do is look out the window. If you are not so qualified, you can look- and never see it; and will assume that what you think you see is all there is. Intelligence isn't the difference between these two- knowledge, experience and understanding is.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO SELL- YOU NEED TO STEP BACK AND ACQUIRE THE SKILLS THAT ARE VALUABLE TO EMPLOYERS.

The most important qualification to get a job is ATTITUDE. Then INTEGRITY, being able to keep you commitments. Then- skills. but those can be acquired on the job- IF YOU ARE MOTIVATED.
If you don't know crap but have that and are willing to learn- there are jobs available. IF you can't bring good attitude to the table, you are not worth hiring.
ALL good business managers know this. Certainly, all experienced business owners know this. If they didn't- their business would not exist.

In government- the public has the power to control management. They don't know this, and they vote for crackpots and people who tell them what they want to hear, instead of people capable of actually doing the job well. That is why we are in the mess we are in today- as generations forgot where they came from and started thinking the quality of the person had nothing to do with the quality of the nation, we began giving power to adult children....... and putting totally unfit people in offices of power.

Weak people do not like strong leadership, anywhere. They want slack, so they don't have to actually be worth what they are paid. Employers can't point that out publicly, it would offend their employees and make matters worse. So they often point to the good job their employees do.... but they damn sure know this is true, and they know the difficulty and importance of finding good people. The really good people thrive, and do well. The plodders- just plod, and complain about how unfair life is.

Starting in March Trump was calling to end the shutdowns and people get back to work and the left ATTACKED him.

Remarks by President Trump, Vice President Pence, and Members of the Coronavirus Task Force in Press Briefing
    HEALTHCARE

    Issued on: March 30, 2020

Q Thank you, Mr. President. I wanted to ask you about the extension of these CDC guidelines you’ve announced today —

    THE PRESIDENT: Yeah.

Q — through the end of next month. And, of course, you know that there have been shelter-in-place orders that have been have been imposed by governors and mayors all throughout the country. And when you take that all into account, it sounds like — and it seems like you’ve acknowledged — that America, essentially, will be shut down for the next few weeks, maybe even the next two months; you mentioned June 1st as a date in which you’d like America to —

THE PRESIDENT: No, we think it’s going to really start to open up. We think that that’s going to be the bottom of the hill. That’s where we’re looking at — June 1st. Maybe even a little bit sooner than that.

Are you really going to try and deny Trump and Fauci were at loggerheads over the matter?

You don't strike me as dumb or dishonest. So why would you associate yourself with such a dumb and dishonest article?

First let's get this straight: the poll is about approval rating on the 39th month of each president. So, yes, on the 39th month of his presidency, Biden polls unfavourable compared to all other presidents in approval rating. This is just a snapshot of right now. Obviously as a democrat, I am concerned, but in no way shape or form was this a poll for "the worst president in history". You do realise that if these quarterly polls were to see who "the worst president in history was" that Trump would almost always be at the very bottom of the heap? And on aggregate (averaging every quarter). Trump is the undisputed "worst president in history" clocking in at an aggregate 41 percent approval rating. Unbeatable. So you sure you want to go with this metric for "worst president" ?
Or let's put this another way, you could post Trump "worst president in history" for about two years of Trump's term and YOUR numbers would bear that out.

I really didn't have you pegged for a Newsmax dupe.

According to them: Presidents & Executive Politics Section of the American Political Science Association.

Why I'm Leaving the Political Science Association

...There are, of course, special sections controlled by conservative or classical liberal groups at the APSA conference. But as for the sections that are open to all submissions, they essentially fall into two groups: strictly empirical work or normatively left-wing ideas. Am I the only one scratching my head?

I have worked with political scientists of an overwhelmingly left-wing bent for all of my career, so I know that there is nothing nefarious in this. Indeed, this is a key finding of Dunn’s Passing on the Right. Sometimes, conservative commentators on the academy write as if there is a vast conspiracy operating on campus. There is not. Most of my left-wing colleagues in political science are reasonable and rational people who are aware of the importance of bringing a variety of political viewpoints into the classroom. When I asked the section organizer why our panel was rejected, she genuinely seemed not to remember – not indicative of an intentional censoring of non-left-wing issues – and added: “I agree it’s an important topic.”

So why the lack of balance? Despite the lip-service to the importance of viewpoint diversity, asking an APSA organizer committed to the advance of left-wing viewpoints to take one for the right is like asking a glutton to forego ice cream. There are no practical means to translate theory into practice. The eyes roll tiredly over proposals concerning viewpoint diversity but perk up excitedly at the sight of one, to cite another of the offerings at this year’s conference, “Disavowing Violence: Imperial Entitlements, From Burke to Trump (**** That Guy).”...

Nesmax didn't do the poll- they only reported that Gallup, the highly respected and trusted, polling entity that with70 years experience did. Those who are deeply addicted to political hogwash would question a report that the sun rose if it didn't come from their favorite source.

The article is a report of a poll- not an editorial or opinion of the news service. The poll was done by Gallup. With 70 years in the business, polling presidential approval ratings since Eisenhower- they are considered to be the most legitimate. Who reports it doesn't affect that. And if you would buy CNN and their kind- you probably don't care about legitimacy anyway.

Sadly, much of the media has become politically biased or even propaganda mills, with some far more biased than others. Regardless of what you think of their personal position- That doesn't apply here at all

And it appears you can not deliver any historian anywhere who doesn’t have Trump ranked in the bottom three of US Presidents

NewsMax framed the poll, easy to do, it frames everything, why it is currently scheduled for a 1.6 billion dollar lawsuit trial in September, unlike Murdoch, they weren’t offered a settlement

Well bless your heart. So you have a problem with "Table 2: Presidential Greatness Rankings by Party and Ideology" as well? Is there a conspiracy among conservatives to place the orange sociopath at the bottom?

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?
First of all, you could have posted the original Gallup article. it really would not have been that hard. "who reports it doesn't affect that" just isn't true when you consider that the headline alone is a bold face mischaracterisation of the poll.
IS NOT THE SAME THING AS
So please stop pretending that Newsmax was just relaying a poll by an esteemed pollster. that just isn't true. Note also, that many subsequent posts in this thread took on that phrase at face value. Shows you how intnetionnaly misleading it is. By the way Gallup has a feature where you can compare approval ratings of various presidents. https://news.gallup.com/poll/116677...ings-gallup-historical-statistics-trends.aspx
Since you and Newsmax clearly think that approval rating at any point in time is equivalent of being the worst president in polling history, if you play with the features, you will clearly see that Trump is the worst president in history if you look at average approval, and amount of quarters at the bottom of the list.

For you to have the nerve to try to claim that this Newsmax story is not politically biased or a propaganda mill is just laughable.

Biden asserted his power to prevent Trump from campaigning. Genocide Joe can’t campaign anywhere without being yelled at by anti-Israeli protestors. Karma.

That's ridiculous- like saying the same thing printed on two different colors of paper don't say the same thing.
(Google will find you many reports, quickly, but I'll do it for you. You probably didn't know that. Learn something new everyday! )

But, if you think that way- which I consider a serious limitation- here's a few more sites reporting the story.
Pick one that makes you feel better about Biden being the dregs at the bottom of the political punchbowl.

Before being a smartass, I would recommend that you double check your work, as several of your links are to old polls.
I said at the very get go, that this latest Gallup poll which compares previous presidents on the day of the 13th quarter of their presidency is not a good number for Biden. I also object to an "alleged" news site COMPLETELY mischaracterising someone else's work. But if you insist that Newsmax is not mischarectierizing these polls, then I want to hear you say it:
"Trump is the worst president in history". Since Trump has the worst approval rating average since these polls began (41).

No he was headed in one direction beginning in March of 2020 and you not shown otherwise. If you are going to post a statement of fact back it up.

Do tell me were you supporting his calls to open things back up and go against what Faucie was pushing? Did you vote against Biden who was pledging to stick with Fauci and the teachers unions to keep things shutdown?
