https://www.realclearinvestigations...spoiler_alert_it_wasnt_democracy_1027411.html This is a long and excellent review article detailing US interference in Ukrainian politics and support for US clients in their government. It also describes our foreign policy moves to cripple any EU initiatives to defuse the situation. About half of the article is about how the Democratic Party and Ukrainian figures have interacted with US politics to favor Obama, Clinton and Biden, while attacking Trump.
the Trump quid pro quo made Ukraine look weak, thus encouraging Putin to attack sure after Trump got his hand caught in the cookie jar, he was bitter towards Ukraine, probably even mentioned it to his buddy Putin
I don't know why you or the author you quote would think that we should impose democracy on Ukraine. It's the Ukrainian people's decision what type of government they want to have. OUR priority is to stop expansionists dictators. Because anybody with the most basic knowledge of history understands that they always end up targeting our interests, our allies and US.
What 10 Years of U.S. Meddling in Ukraine Have Wrought (Spoiler Alert: Not Democracy) What an invasion of Ukraine by Russia has wrought (Not democracy.)
I don't think that Yanukovych was an "expansionist dictator". He was elected in a reasonably fair and free election. His policies were to continue a more or less neutral stance with good relationships in politics and trade with both the EU and with Russia. There was no good reason for the US to participate in the coup of 2014. I think that the reference to democracy is due to the funding of many activities in Ukraine by USAID and various NGOs under the guise of "promoting democracy".
