Guerrilla warfare is the past -- and the future. Foreign professional militaries will always be especially vulnerable to attacks from motivated local armed opposition.

    "Myanmar
A rebel offensive that routed the army from tracts of Myanmar’s north east and fighting elsewhere pose the biggest threat yet to the junta that seized power nearly three years ago.
Over the course of 2023, a grim pattern had set in. Resistance forces – disparate militias that grew out of post-coup protests crushed by the junta – launched ambushes across a swathe of the country. The Myanmar military used airstrikes, artillery and mobile units to put down the uprising and punish civilians.

The north-eastern offensive has shaken things up. A preexisting coalition of three ethnic armed groups, the Three Brotherhood Alliance, together with some resistance forces, seized several towns, overran scores of military positions, captured tanks and heavy weapons, and severed key trade routes to China. Sensing the army’s disarray, ethnic rebels elsewhere, often joining forces with or even under the banner of resistance groups, went on the attack, taking towns, part of a state capital and border posts in diverse areas of the country. Outside the north east, the military has put up a stiffer fight, though it still appears stretched.

Europeans of any kind don’t have the right to complain, that we’ve given any military assistance that we’ve had “unofficial” Americans serving inside of that hell hole is more than fulfilling the Budapest Memorandum and quite frankly even beyond our obligations.

Whether from West to East or East to West, this is the shared war history of Europeans. Regardless of who started it, the entire European continent shares in it.

So I don’t care for what happens to Ukraine or not, that care should have existed before the crisis escalated to such a point. Equally I don’t care for the British and French risking their own lives needlessly that’s obviously their decision.

I only care that such decisions will inevitably drag us into the conflict and thus bringing the US into a third world war in 100 years.

And if we are dragged into it AGAIN, be rest assured that things will be different diplomatically. Armed security via NATO didn’t work, so whatever the next solution is will have to be so punitive that Europe gives up its ill fated military romanticism that created the crisis.

And before you ask: That obviously includes Russia as well. Siding with one or the other has promoted conflict. Perhaps equal punishment will serve as a deterrent

If we had a real president, none of this would have happened. But we have a mail ballot imbecile. Somebody in the White House needs to tell little napoleon Macron to shut his ****ing mouth as well as David Cameron and the rest of the bozos in the UK. They are flirting with nuclear war, which means they are ****ing with my life.

Oi! Kakoi uzhas! What a loss that would be to the world and the forum.

This being cowed by Napoleon Putler's nuclear rhetoric needs to stop. He's not going to get himself vaporized and what remains of his run-down empire taken out over French or British troops helping to stop his war of aggression in Ukraine. Some people clearly need to step away from the propaganda feeds on their computers and phones and touch grass.

There is the same attitude in Europe, especially in Germany, why should we care about Ukraine. And if that was a normal regional conflict you could ask that. The point is, Russia is increasing its military spending and plans to recruit about 200 K soldier each year in the coming years. Its up to you to make assumptions if they want to come to 1.5 million active soldiers again, to overpower Moldova with 5 thousand soldiers or to confront NATO. I consider it as a matter of time until Russia takes on a NATO state.

Good advice D, you ought to take it. Lay off the bovine excrement/ukie pravda/denys/propaganda feed and see how the grass is growing. Is it tall enough to mow yet? Lots of lib delusion in cold weather areas....maybe global warming will help with it :)

Again, that is the problem of the European Union. Don’t make it our problem because if people like myself come to power I’ll personally see to it that the political violence of Europe becomes a dormant volcano.

I am tired of sending generations of American citizens to their deaths for nothing of interest. NATO was supposed to prevent this from happening. It has not, not even close

The absence of US leadership is stunning. You’ve got these EU countries trying to cash a check they ain’t got. And we know they don’t have it because if they did, they wouldn’t be begging for our military resources.

All of this is to distract from the political failures in both the UK and France. The conservatives of both countries are domestically collapsing and need a war to distract their populace

You're tired of something that in no way affects you? How does that work?

People like you tried to keep us out of such conflicts a generation ago and it got us Pearl Harbor. The weaker and more internally divided we appear, the more likely angry little men like Putler are to threaten and attack us, not to mention our friends and allies around the world. And you better believe it affects us when our top security and economic partners are drawn into armed conflict.

Since you bring up Pearl Harbor D, Japan hit after the US embargoed oil, steel, froze Japanese assets in the US and sanctioned Japan. Sound familiar????

I just don't understand how people can get duped into this bovine excrement time and time again by government actors.

Yeah, it sounds like we better not be so complacent this time around.

It sounds like you would have preferred that we continue selling the Japanese the materials they needed to mass-murder people in Manchuria? You do seem to have an affinity for mass murdering would-be empires that invade their neighbors and kill people en masse.

Japan had Imperial ambitions regardless of what this article states....whether any sanctions, or seizures of assets, were realized. After Pearl Harbor, the Japs would've set their sights on the West Coast of the US....California,Oregon,Washington states. "Bill" would probably applaud this.

Poor ukies can't swim/don't have life jackets.....or are shot if discovered going for a swim in the river.
Better to drown trying to escape the sausage grinder than to be used as human shields for azov boys.

Six more Ukrainians drown trying to flee abroad – media

Dozens have lost their lives in the treacherous mountain river waters while attempting to evade the draft

Then there's the dressing up like old babushkas route.

    1. People like you dont come to power.
    2. Of course you can outright break treaties just like Putin does, but it will influence your credibility in negotiations not only with the partners you betrayed.
    3. You seem to overlook that the outcome of the two World Wars was that the US became the dominating power first in the West, in the end all over the world. The US was the main war profiteer of both World Wars, which is by the way why it wasnt dragged into it, but actively joined to protect its interest. You wanna turn back and leave the world order to China, thats up to you. I bet the majority of US-Americans would cry already in a world with the Yuan anchor currency if they had to pay 30 Cents more per gallon adjusted to purchase power, not to talk about the real deal of consequences which awits you in that scenario. Which is the reason for the 1st point.

The word is that RuZzian General Lapins (the dude who f***ed up at Lyman in Sept 2022), son was killed in a HIMARS strike back on May 4....while stationed somewhere in Donetsk.

That sucks bigly....not., poetic Justice what can one say. I hope he feels it was worth it?

    :lonely:

Soo..being a General, I guess that moves him up the ladder in terms of getting a white Lada quicker?....or seeing as how he's top brass he gets to pick the color?:-D
